There is no DF2. Get it? How hard is it to go to the DF site and r-e-a-d?
EDIT: Blatant name-calling removed. I'm still thinking it, however.

All our resources are dedicated to the development and future of Darkfall1 (that's what I'll call it for the purposes of this post to avoid any confusion).
We're currently working on a major expansion to Darkfall1.
We haven't diverted resources to a Darkfall2 game.
Even if we had, it would take years to complete and we would not stop full development of Darkfall1
We have no plans of replacing Darkfall1 with a Darkfall2
If you asked us what's after Darkfall we'd include Darkfall2 in our answer because we think that Darkfall has a future, it's the logical progression of things and this is basically what I was referring to when I spoke at the HGDC.
I mentioned Darkfall2 at HGDC after I talked about all our current activities, and then closing I briefly mentioned what's in the future for Aventurine, long-term plans and thoughts. It was a brief mention, I didn't make an announcement, even though it was presented as such.
Our development works in such a way that all assets made today are reusable and upgradable for future generations of Darkfall, so yes we're keeping the future of Darkfall in mind while we work on this version of the game. It doesn't mean that we're working on a new game.
Expansion / Relaunch doesn't mean a server wipe but it may give fresh options to new and existing players.
I'll repeat that we're not going to wipe the servers in case that's still unclear.

Do we have to repeat all the thread just for you, because you are inept to put a date and context next to a dev quote, all this is explained in this thread. This was from the last year, now is an other year... Do you understand the basic of history, each day is a new day, and what belong to the past isn't valid anymore, especially if it is contradicted today? DO you understand this?

No, but I understand that what he said back in October has not changed one bit. He hasn't said anything different from what he stated then. It's not a new version, AV is simply re-releasing the client with enhancements. {mod edit}

Darkfall does not a severe revamp. The game design choices were so flawed from the beginning. At least they are recognizing it and trying to solve the problem.
If a full 3rd person perspective, exclusion of mouse/UI mode, skill/stat caps, and a server wipe are being introduced... that's the only way I would pick it up again.
I wish I could do magic.. I'd combine the world sim ideas of UO with the modern graphics and UI/GUI of Rift... Blamo..instant success.

pity, i think what the game needs most of all is some game mechanics like skill caps and skill restrictions combined with a reduction in grind, better animations and a server wipe. Without those it jsut isnt appealing to me.
there are 2 types of mmo, imitators and innovaters.

The game has sold over 100k copies last I checked. Plus they always see a new influx of customers during expansions. An expansions that rewrites some of the main flaws of the game will be enough to get a good boost of players back. If they do it correctly word will spread and you will see even more return.
Darkfall is also not relying on your normal fickle crowd ne MMO jumpers. There crowd has a lot less options and will be willing to return if they can deliver 70-80% of what they promise.
All darkfall has to do is not be retarded when it comes to game design choices and they will be fine. But as we have seen before they are good at being retarded at game design choices.
Tasos language? what kind of guy are you, what the fuck do you think Tasos is? a kind of baby you need to understand his incomprehensible language?
As a matter of fact, yes. People who have actually followed his ramblings knows that Tasos has "challenges" when he communicates with customers. It's not that hard to figure it out.

Too me a lot of what DF provide was really good, but what really let the game down was the ultra simplistic combat system, the game could be so much more had it provided a system where player skill was not watered down to a repitive aim and click, if they dont change this then i dont think it will ever really be a successful MMO.

And what would you replace it with? The ever-exciting button-mashing of WoW and it's clones? Now there's skill for you!
Oh, lookee. At level 1 I'm learning the game by pressing 1, 2, 3, mob dead. Now that I'm level 50 and much more skilled, I vaporize my enemies by...uh...um...pressing 1, 2, 3, dead...wait...what?
What alternative would you offer?

Well they could go for a hybrid system like AoC, where you hit a skill then hit directionals to complete that skill in an attack ( thou the AoC system missed out an effective tier combo system and break ), or you could go for a pure combo based action based system like dragons nest, or even go to a system used in severance blade of darkeness in 2001, any of these systems are much better, and theres much more that could be done to improve them.

1) AOC's comnbat system was terribe
2) Combo systems are repetive
The only thing DFO needs is an active block system and more melee combat options/skills.

AOC system was way to convuluted. DF needs to keep it simple though, savage 2 style. easy to learn hard to master.
Directional they could go M&B style, depends on what they think their server can take and what not.

Blade of Darkness even had active block with shield breaking and it was made in 2001... xD

Now we are getting somewhere, the savage 2 system is very good, its fast gets the mind thinking, adren pumping, its not just mindless clicking, but if you add a combo system into that then it gets really interesting, give the player the ability to chain and break lock's.
well i played DF this year for over 3 months and it was a blast. I loved the crafting, pve, and pvp. The problem was that once i become decent at pvp (sword/bow) i noticed that almost everybody that rolls the rest, are fire mages. So the balance is shit, the new PK system is horrible, and on top of that most of the high vets, afk grinded most of their skills(AV knows this), due to a bad designed system.
It was fun but i left the game due horrible balance, and unpolished features and broken skills system th at was exploited by everybody...
Firemage > fireball pushes in the air, instant, land , repeat lol. Thats for average meleers, i am sure they are some vets that can handle firemages. I hope!
Well, they said "relaunch." So that means that either it's going to be a new game or everyone's going to be wiped, right?
I've never played DF but I think I might try it out as long as there's going to be a clean slate.
It's going to be like a NGE, only the a change for the better hopefully, current owners or DF don't need to buy the game again as their account will become 2.0. There will be a community debate wipes to current playerbase assets or skills etc.

This seems to be the mose likely, but i have to wonder, why would anyone play right now? You dont know if your items, skills, stats or money will be saved. Hell, all of it could be wiped. Im not going to resub until i get some more info and guessing the speed of patches we will still have these discussions in 2012-2013...

And with Germany giving 100+ BILLION Euro to Greece, do I get a free copy? That would be a nice gesture. XD
