They dont dwelve into the story lines, they rush to level.....they barely read quests, cept to see where to go or what to kill..........They dont really care about faction or reputations, they greedily gather thier gear as fast as they can < usually at the expense of others time > then sit back and complain there is nothing for them to do!..... HA i laugh out loud!

Maybe you people should give up online gaming period, its obviously not ever going to satisfy you anyway!.......I Hope you find what ever it is you are looking for but i assure you gaming hasnt, isnt now, nor never will fill the gaps you all complain are leaving you with nothing to do with your time and get bored in mmorpg'

That was a very stupid post. I LOLed too. I don't read the garbage stories made up to legitimize collecting 10 mushrooms or pelts or shiny rocks because it is a COMPLETE WASTE OF MY TIME. The writing is terrible and it is the same story over and over and over and over and over and over again. I can only care about the local townfolks needs for so long before I get fed up and blast through to the end game.

Why do people get off thinking they are better gamers because they read those dumb little side stories or that other people are burnt out because they skip that part? Does everyone have to RP? I play mmo games to smash other people in open combat, not make sure the local baker has enough flour for his cakes.

You go ahead and read those, they are only timesinks to get people to play thier game longer anyways. Have fun.

    Superdonk...

The whole situation is about what makes you have fun in playing a game. Some people have fun by stroking their epeen (being obserbably better than others); others by inmersing themselves in the stories that the writers wrote, being part of the game world if you will; others with socializing with friends, be these real life, or online; others are in it for the mechanics, that is, being presented with a challange through solo, group or raid play and conquering it. There might be a few more types, but these are the main catagories.

To me, you seem like the mechanics player. You don't really care about the story, you could care less about the collections, world events would put you off because its not really a big mechanic to overcome, and your main cup of tea would be to overcome the dungeons and raids. Once this is done, to you the game is done and over with, because there is nothing else for you to do. Your best bet is to go for a sandbox mmo. Let the players continually make content for you to overcome and stop stressing on what developers can crunch out. You will consume their content way faster than they could crank it out.

Notice that I am not saying your way of enjoying yourself is wrong. Its your prerogative what jolts your interest. However, accusing the devs for not catering to your playstyle, or telling other players their playstyles are wrong is very simpleminded of you. Let others enjoy the game the way they want to, and you do the same.

OP, your problem is similar to the prior poster. You found nothing else to do, because the game's fun came through the completion of mechanics, and not story or sociolizing or a myriad of other things that are available in it. Again, not to say you were wrong by doing what you did, however it isn't the game's fault that you had to do this, but mainly how you get your enjoyment of the game. If you continually go for themepark MMOs you are always going to run into this the moment you catch up with the output of the devs. This might take longer or shorter depending on your real life responsibilities, but it will happen eventually. A very robust Sanbox style MMO might be your cure as well.

    Happy gaming all!

You nailed it with the description of a mechanics player.  That is who I am.  I dont care about achivements, crafting, or the story.  I just want to kill players in PVP and run through the PVE content  a few times.  I dont like the typical gear grind though so I dont like running the same instance for 8 hours just to get a staff or ring that is 10% better than what I already have equiped.

Youre right about me needing a robust sandbox game - but do they even exsist?  The last sandbox game that was fun for me was swg before it was ruined.  That was over 5 years ago.

I can't say that I disagree with the OP, but I can say that I am still enjoying the game.

End Game in MMORPG's hasn't changed and I don't think Dev's really know how to change it.

There has to be a 'grind' of some kind... otherwise, why would you keep playing?

Watch videos from fan faire 2011. They plan to make Planetside 2 sandboxy at launch, and then expand on sandbox features.

Like player build structures / permament guild bases, active / offline progression and unlocks, player customised vehicles / weapons etc. And resources will be needed for everything from gear to progression, every inch of the landscape can be conquered, they want to add new landscapes and even new PLANETS after launch - looks like good stuff. Ofc at launch it's not going to be ultimate sandbox, but better this than nothing :)

I don't know. Why do people still play EvE with no endgame?

I think it's the same reason why people keep playing WoW for years, doing the same endgame dungeons: because those people like it, and different people apparently can like different things in their MMO gaming image

That can't be the same reason. There are no dungeons in EvE. All endgames don't have to be the same as was shown earlier.

However you have to think of dungeons as a tennis court .  The court is always the same and so is the game but why do people play tennis?

    Because its fun ?

It seems to me that you are looking for a virtual life inside an MMORPG , probably some sort of SANDBOX mmo is more suited to your game style.

The court is the exact opposite of a dungeon. Your oppenent(s) will play different every time, unexpected things can happen. Your opponents in dungeons always play the same, predictable way. Tennis is more like PVP.

And no, a sandbox would not be the right choice for the op. When playing EVE for example, he would propably run out of content (in his sense) right after the tutorial image
