I haven't seen anybody say SWTOR will be revolutionary. Worthless topic is worthless.
Every fanboi out there has said that the story driven part of this mmo with be revolutionary. It's supposed to be the next.. other side of the pillow. The best thing since sliced bread and so on. Worthless troll post is worthless.
That's a lie as far as I am concerned. Use of words like Every and Always or Never often lead to false statements like the one you presented. Next time, try to be accurate.

EVERY? i am a fan too but i never said that. I think you are confusing SWTOR with GW2 fans because that is where you will see majority of posts like you just mentioned
I'm not even a fan of SWTOR and even I am sick of seeing Threads and posts like the OP's senselessly bashing the game and players that are actually interested in it.
If Bethesda had their go at this IP, it would have made history and changed the way mmos are developed and played. Bioware will make a great game but it will be far from legendary. Story is great but freedom and "adventure" is even better. Being able to tell a story and give a sense of "freedom" is what Bioware lacks in all of their titles. Most of their games are very fun to play all the way through but only once. They always try to make up for their linear design by adding side quests that have multiple solutions, dialog or story, but the end content always ends up being the same. This is a big problem when you create a linear game. You can in many ways make it seem as if you have control of the direction of your path but at the end of the day it is very hard to create multiple end stories. Bethesda games have countless hours of reply value because even though there are story based objectives, the entire experience feels adventurous and gives the player a true sense that they have a little control over their destiny.
I believe Bethesda could have made a better game based upon their ability to "improve" their game design with each title. Bioware is using the same format that has seemingly worked for their linear RPGs. Tor is an mmorpg not an rpg. If you honestly believe story alone is going to provide longevity for this title, I highly disagree. Bioware needs to focus on creating a world that is engaging enough to want to play over and over again based upon unpredictable events and adventurous opportunities, not assuming their pre-determined paths will be enough to make us want to run the same scenario but with different answers or story direction.
Tor will be fun, it may even become the mmo of choice (for a while) but stop deceiving yourselves into believing that it will be revolutionary. They have your money now, feeding us mediocrity and everyone screams "hell yah" because it is Star Wars. I am very excited to see a polished Star Wars mmo being produced in our modern day, but this one has not utilized the full opportunity for greatness. Oh, well...
"If bioware made a star wars MMO, then it would be the perfect game, blah, blah, blah..."
It's very easy to say that our favourite single-player game developers would end up making the exact MMO we want, but the truth is that until they've actually made a solid MMO, it's impossible to know what to expect. The quote above is pretty much my thoughts circa 5 years ago, but the end result is nowhere near what i had hoped.
Just because BioWare made nearly every one of my favourite single-player RPGs, didn't lead to them making an amazing MMO (at least not to my taste).

Why do you say he is senselessly bashing the game? If this game had "freedom" as suggested in the OP, it would be the perfect MMO. Unfortunately BioWare could never get that part right in any game of theirs.
Especially the way you get to your ship and depart for another planet. I sometime really expected the game to say "You need to gather your party before venturing forth" :P. I am curious to see after how many days people are going to start to complain about the ship traveling. Expect to see WoW-like portals soon
SWTOR will be hugely successful, it could just have been more than it is right now.
It is senseless because Bethesda has never made a MMO before so this OP is based on assumptions and his own expectations from bethesda of what it could be. No one can be 100% certain if whatever OP said would even make into Bethesda version of SWTOR IF they had made it. He is projecting his own ideas by using bethesda as an excuse.
Interesting topic. I dont agree completely with the OP, I do think story is important. But the topic itself is good. The only game from Bethesda that I have played(and playing) is Skyrim. I haven't touched any of the older ones because I never had a good enough PC to run them. But I must say that Skyrim is amaizing, I love this game and the way they have designed it. The open world, exploring, epic scale this game has is just outstanding and I do believe any MMO could learn from this. For me it almost feels like what GW2 dynamic events should feel like, if they feel anything close to running around in Skyrim they will suceed.
Now as far as Bethesda making Tor, thats would be a completely different game. I have played many Bioware games and I must admit their storytelling and polish are top notch. So if Bethesda made Tor it would be more of a sandbox with probably many bugs, but still very very intersting. A game that would focus on exploration and letting you figure out your story rathen than having the story play like a movie for you. Its two completely different games and both good in my book.

Senseless? Dude, get a grip. Bioware never made an mmo either, this is their first time around. NO ONE can be sure of SWOTOR's success neither can anyone be certain that Bethesda can NOT do equally or better a job. This topic was made based upon my personal opionion and long observation. I have extensive experience playing the games from both developers so I'm not just blindly trying to support one side based upon the desperate desire for SWOTOR to be a huge success. I've been a BIG fan of Bioware games for years, I've encouraged countless friends and family members to buy their games. My wife became an avid fan of their games as well so do not judge my motives when you don't even know me from jump.
I've been excited for SWOTOR since I heard about it and believed years ago that no other company could do this game justice like Bioware could (for an mmorpg). I honestly believed that. Years have passed and my opinions have changed. Based upon extensive experience completing games from both companies, Bethesda stands as the victor in my opionion. This is not a bash. I hope SWOTOR does well as I and my wife will be playing it this Christmas holiday regardless of how well it does. What this thread is is simply an opionion and observation. Just because I like a game doesn't mean I would not be critical or honest about it.
If Bethesda made TOR, then I would not be playing it. It is that simple for me. The reason is pretty simple, I have not liked any of there games and I have tried them all. They just are not the types of games I like. I can't really put my finger on why exactly, but even hearing Bethesda now and I cringe thinking of the money I wasted on them and so I won't do it anymore. I do recognize that a lot of people like the games that company makes and so I am not saying it would be a "FAIL" or anything like that, only that I would not play the game.
"If half of what you tell me is a lie, how can I believe any of it?"
Going by the op's ideia, CD Projekt RED and THQ would be even better, as it is we must be more than happy that Bioware / Lucas Arts / The name that shall not be spoken are running the show and not SOE for example.
