First let me state that I don't play MO, too many bad reviews. However, I like to keep an eye out and see if/when its time to jump in. I think the announcement can only mean good things. I think its very hard for an indie game company to promote itself. Its been stated that its exactly what Henrik wanted and now has somehow flip floped. I don't think this at all. It seems to me that he tried the self publishing thing and came to a realization that it wasn't as easy as he thought. Not a flip flop, but an honest business decision.
A lot has been stated about Henrik being shady, dishonest, etc. I have no idea. But a 'game broker' can only help the game. More exposure internationally means more purchases/subs, which means more money, which means more development. Now how much that will mean short term (boost) v. long term (Sustainment) is something entirely different.
If the track record holds as stated by the numerous doomsayers and insiders who know the inner workings of the company and its status are correct, then it won't have any benefit at all since its about to collapse anyway.
I'll continue watching the game because I enjoy sandbox type games and maybe the wind will turn in its direction and i'll dive in. Although it will be hard to just which way the wind is blowing, because it seems to me that a vast amount of ppl are very vocal about its state and I don't think they are open to having their minds changed.
So I tried to see if I could find information on OnLegends.
Apparently they opened for business around late October of 2010 and employ about 10 people.
It doesn't seem the company did very well, and it isn't apparent they did through their facebook page. They partnered with "Moliyo", a Chinese based publisher on August 1st. Now they are partnering with StarVault.

its sad to see how little you know.
Eve online has a asian server, the reason why there will be a asian server, is because of the language barriar and laws, we won't even know it exists. eve online has a asian server, and MO will have a asian server, to meet demand of the asian market, the asian publishers will be the one who be running MO in asia, so i don't see the issue, they want the asian market to be able to have access to MO, unless of course you feel that the asian market should not have access to mo.
It just going to be some adapted version of mortal online for asian people.
the reason why there will be a asian server, is because of the language barriar.
Perhaps you can enlighten me as to this universal Asian language which is the barrier. Admitedly I don't know much, but last time I checked there wasn't such a language. India, China, Japan, China, Korea... all the major "Asian" countries all have their own language. Is is assumed that Japanese players speak Chinese because they have similar facial features?
Wow... talk about "how little you know"...
Besides.. it has nothing to do with what I know or do not know. I presented two statement by the Starvault CEO that contradicted each other. If you have a problem with the statements take it up with him.

Slapshot didn't you know there is a universal Asian language??? Wait actually there are a shit ton....
They havn't even translated all the lore from Swedish to English yet. Good luck on translating it to a "Universal Asian Dialect".
And Angel no the reason there is be an Asian server is not the language barrier. It is because they are searching for more money. But obviously Henrik does not know the demagraphic. So he will fail in Asia.

For instance Dark and Light (Huge Flop) showed 400,000 + FORUM members, yet only sold 25K copies. Starvault has been trying to spin these numbers in about every financial report released. Forum numbers are meaningless other than to feign interest or players.

Berlin/Malmö – August 8th, 2011 The Swedish developer Star Vault, veterans from DICE’s Battlefield and Hitman crews, and the world’s premier games broker will announce a global exclusive cooperation
So whos giving out the false information Starvault or Onlegends? Starvault doesnt have veterans from BF or Hitman, nor anywhere near 170000 players. Theres even a recent post here claiming only 5000 players, which even seems inflated.

Didn't they have similiar contract with some asian company? What happened to that deal?

I don't know, this seems pretty shaky itself.
Indeed, and it was similarly touted by a few diehard fans at the time (just 2 months ago): http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/317953/Mortal-online-partners-with-asian-publisher.html
Best part : "Lekool will help us establishing a publisher partnership in Asia that will help us release an Asian version of Mortal Online, which will be separate from the EU/US server we have today"
Then we have THIS:"Since we have a technology that allows us to expand the server capacity and ingame land space there is no reason to start spliting servers up." http://www.mortalonline.com/forums/65689-henrik-onlegend.html#post1193875

If that is not Henrik I do not know what is.
That hardly equates to actual players...

I win!!! LOL@U
The problem is that they explicitly use the word PLAYERS which is apparently a lie. Unless anyone actually believes they had 170,000+ players.

What??? Veterans as in playing the above games?
Henrik: "Yes we have some developers, leads coming from those companies/games."

LOL...Not according to SV financial reports. I wonder if Onlegends actually thinks these numbers are valid?
I win!!! LOL@U
There has never ever ever been 170k players in MO from alpha to now put together.
