I think that this whole initiative proves how bad the game is doing.

Well, that's kinda overstating it, I admit.

Let me put it this way: When a developer asks it's fanbase to defend their game on a 3rd party site, you know something's wrong.

    I mean....he's a dev, right? Or something along those lines......Gah, i don't know.

Well if it was StarVault's plan to cause even more negative replies, it sure worked.

And where's our #1 incognito MO dev today? I only see his drunken raging alt account..

Hmmm I am thinking someone did not listen to the bottom paragraph.  If you want to debate let's debate.  Not flame and troll and not back up, reasoning or statments.

The "I am right and you are wrong because I say so" argument only is fun for so long.

As someone that has never tried MO and has no basis to offer an opinion on it one way or another.  The one thing that is troubling about this whole thing is the apparent lack of transparency on the MO Community Manager's part.

If he feels that his game is being given a raw deal in commentary here....there is nothing wrong for him to ask fans to come here and give thier own impressions of the game.

What IS very clearly wrong, IMO, is his initial (apparently failed) attempted to get the MMORPG Community Manager to moderate negative posts that did not violate the terms of service. Attempts to silence criticism simply because it happens to present a view that you disagree with is anthetical to the sort of free and healthy debate that forums like this should be about. If you disagree with a particular viewpoint, state your own position...don't try to silence the opposition.

If he truly feels MO is being given a raw deal here. He should make a post here where he discloses who he is, and what his relation to MO is (transparency is critical in these sorts of situations) and calmy state what impressions of MO he feels are being misrepresented and why he feels that way....and idealy offer evidence or citations to back up his position.

That is, IMO, the proper way to handle things. Lurking in the shadows and trying to get a 3rd party site moderated is not....and just comes off as rather creepy.

If StarVault was looking for communication, we would still be posting in the official forums on their website. ;)

It is obvious they want a mature world that is dark, twisted, and quite sexual. In my opinion if they go the full nine yards, well in my case it would be a lot smaller than that, but if they go the full nine yards then their world will represent the dark feeling of a lawless land.

Who cares about being politically correct with violence, gore, and sexual themes (excluding real life allusions)? If that is the problem these days with adult titles with gore, violence and sexual themes being politically correct, then what is the point of making a mature game with what seems to be nothing more than gimicks.

There should be gambling, wenches, bar fights, bloody quests, gore, the horror, etc with the occasional sunshine as something to be appreciate every once in a while. Just having an open world does not cut it, it just leaves it out to the community to create the game for ourselves, and that does not seem to be the winning formula at the moment.

I will wait patiently for confirmation of the sweater puffs gone bonkers. Till then it should be implemented or no dice.

This is a great post. I really enjoyed it. Seeing that  Mortal Onlines' CM is monitoring this thread, maybe your suggestions will be discussed with the devs and implemented.  This could be the post that saves Mortal Online :)

Hrmmm. I don't know, I just know there was no slider for my character's junk, which will make RP difficult.

    back to OP,

Asking people to be constructive just doesn't seem that bad to me.

"Never met a pack of humans that were any different. Look at the idiots that get elected every couple of years. You really consider those guys more mature than us? The only difference between us and them is, when they gank some noobs and take their stuff, the noobs actually die." - Madimorga

I am amazed at how hard it is for SV folks to accept that not everyone likes their game for the simple reason of it being bad. They will resort to all kind of excuses such as calling users of this forum trolls, haters etc etc, but ignoring simple fact: you can't please everyone. This forum is full of veterans of the mmo genre, and there is a reason for majority not liking the game, it is simply bad, get over it.

If they would stop being biased towards whole community just because of one games subforum, and take a look at The Pub forum for example, they would find many civil and in-depth discussions going on, to prove that the community is mature and civil, and the issue with some people disliking MO lies within the game, not the community. Sure, there are some people who have sort of crusade against MO despite not playing it. But even there, SV is at fault for either cheating them (many have a story with SV), or simply letting down with all the promises. There is such a simple concept as revenge, which applies to forums as well.

Not to mention, that officially asking fans to post positive stuff about a game on a forum shows how desperate they are.. :/

TLDR; Some people don't like your game, get over it.

I'd have to say that it's a pretty major logistical mistake, for a company suffering from bad public image, to move the arguments over to forums that are beyond your control.  You could try to spin it as bravery I suppose, "We are showing that we have the guts to stand up against our detractors"--but spin or not, it is not a good idea.

Hire some public relations person(s) to talk you out of making bad decisions of this magnitude.

Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.

This thread has gone too far off-topic and there is too much baiting going on here. Please follow the RoC when posting in the future.
