During EA's press conference at Gamescom today, BioWare presented a live stage demo of the eight man version of Star Wars: The Old Republic's 'Eternity Vault' Operation.

Given that BioWare's 'crack team' only made it to an early part of the 'Eternity Vault' Operation, BioWare also showed off a new trailer giving gamers a tease of what they can expect deeper into the 'Eternity Vault.'

Check out the demo and trailer over at GameTrailers.com.

Looks cool. However, how cool is this really going to be after playing through the same senario 10,000 times?

If you play through it 10,000 times it must be really, really cool.

Who would do that without having to?

I played Battlegrounds over and over for pvp gear. I hated every second of it.

That didn't look epic at all to be honest. Even Wow instanced look better for me. But I'm a gw2 fanboy so.. =p

That part was pretty much the only interesting thing for ToR.  The rest of the press conference was very underwhelming.

I'm wondering the same things. It does look cool, but how fun is a raid going to be when it's just a raid with a Star Wars skin? Even the first time it's still the same old stuff - learn the dance, do the dance, do the dance over again until you learn the next part of the dance...and so on.

I wonder if they'll have information on their end game PvP stuff.

I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

This looked ok but I'm more inmterested int he overall storyline than raiding for gear.

Looking very nice.  Love the voice work in the raid.

Just remember what ol' Jack Burton does when the earth quakes, and the poison arrows fall from the sky, and the pillars of Heaven shake. Yeah, Jack Burton just looks that big ol' storm right square in the eye and he says, "Give me your best shot, pal. I can take it."

I don't think they'll have any information on end game PvP... if anything you'll be lucky to get videos of PvP at all.

As for the raiding,  if people want to do it over and over again,  then I don't see them doing it for many other reasons then them wanting to.  Its not like you have to wait for rolling on that awesome random loot drop,  and it isn't like you absolutely need the gear to compete at all.  Sure there will be additional rewards for hard/easy modes,  but I don't see people playing the same raids over and over again even if there could be differences here and there.

It seems like everytime I start to get a little excited about this game, something like this happens to kill it.

On the plus side, the animations and general graphics actually look pretty damn good. Not perfect, but I can't say I agree with those who complain about the graphics. Looks pretty awesome to me.

However, I was told about things like Gears of War type cover-taking mechanics and other combat related mechanics that were supposed to differentiate TOR from WoW and other run-of-the-mill MMO's, even if they didn't completely revolutionize it (which is fine with me), but all I see here is basically a WoW boss raid with literally nothing to differntiate it. Tank runs in, gathers all the trash mobs while the healer just stands back watching and replenishing health bars. DPS classes, which far outnumber other classes kill trash mobs with little effort, then a boss comes out, who proceeds to stand there while everyone just gathers around spamming 123123 to zerg DPS him down with no need for positioning or anything like that. The boss has only a few set of predictible moves that are all done in a stand still position with less overall variety or unique encounter mechanisms than your average high-level WoW boss (area effect knock back and missle swarm... that's about it).

Sigh. I hate to be a hater of TOR because I think it does have some incredible qualities, and I've tried to get hyped over this game, but Bioware just keeps making it so hard for me.

I loved the fluff talk narrator really got into. "They're building up their rage, inquisitor is numbing their pain, etc." What I saw was generic MMO #23 with a SW skin on top of it, but I gotta salute the narrator's attempt to make it sound more Dark Side-ish.

Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing.

    Ja ja!

The team is getting killed, so we are gonna call it there!

Don't worry. It can happen to the best of us.

Anyway. I like what I see. That's all i'm going to say to avoid the flames.

I'm very anxious to play the game!

I agree. I'm not enthusiastic about raiding at all. But on the positive side the graphics and animations do seem to have improved over previous videos I've seen.

Still looks like the same old boring ass raid in every other mmo...here's a bunch of really strong stuff, kill in it this order, here's some loot.

In the trailer, it looks like an agent have to hack a computer or something while the rest of the team fights. I hope it's just not for show and you actually have to do a minigame on that computer.

somewhat raises my view of tor.

yea same here.  you can see that there is somekind of match the symbols or something and i hope that the players has to actually figure it out as opposed to click the console and not get interupted for x amount of time while agent does the work.

With the loot containers and such I really wonder what's going to keep people running the same dungeons, it's more than obvious that the majority of raiders don't raid just because it's fun, it's a gear/progression thing. I hope in the end raiding is just an option, rather than the only option for PvE endgame progression. Otherwise I can see this being another game bought on sale, level up a few alts and quit.

Having participated in raids since the old days of eq1 the same old style doesn't bother me. It's a different game then wow so on so forth, I am very excited for this one and can't wait to get my hands on it! Keep up the great work Bioware!

Honestly it didn't look like anything special, glad I chose not to pre-order.  This game just seems like a "been there done that" and thats all I need to say no.  It fits the themepark mold way to perfectly, and for how many years can raiding be fun at endgame?  I've done my time in WoW and can't wait for something else.
