I really tried to get into this game. I gave up, went back, gave up, and went back again...but ultimately, MO doesn't do it for me. In a sandbox, I want more simulation and less full loot pvp retardation.
This is just my opinion, but maybe the reason this PvP-centric formula of sandbox isn't successful, is that fans of sandbox games want to create, rather than destroy.
Spoken like a person who truly understans whythe most recent crop of sandbox games aren't doing it for most mmo players. I remember walking around SWG with my rebel toon totally oblivious to the storm trooper around the corner ready to pull out his AT-ST to pwn me and only realizing what happened when it was time for me to head to the cloning facility as I looked up at that gigantic mass of steel. And even though I'm not a pvp player this was something I was always willing to accept because it was a small part of what I was able to do in the game.
Fast forward to games like DF,MO, and FE and it seems like a runaway train much of the criticism heaped on these games early was met with declarations of "go back to wow this isn't the game for you" and I recall so many times over telling people "think what you want to but the lion doesn't hate the buffalo" in fact it's the opposite he needs him because without him there is no meat to eat.
Maybe the next crops of games will come to understand this and know that exclusion is not a good practice when dealing with a medium that has what amounts to a limited pool of people to serve to begin with.
Dude, None of that is because MO is a saandbox. MO is failing because of direction.
Mortal Online had some 50,000 people interested in it, but those hardcore oldschool fans, ran as fast as they could away from Mortal Online when players started getting into the game, only to find out that nothing works. Swimmiung, Running, etc..
Swimming & running 2 years later still doesn't work.. nobody knows the basic fomulas and your character's speed (vs others) can change day by day, depending on what SV deems right for that Race. Perfect illustration of how StarVault is wholly ignorant & keeps focusing on things, that ony a child would care about... when there are so many fundmental things wrong with basics.
Basic problem, such as faster Dex doesn't equate to better agility in game... yet, we get horse husbantry..?
^ That alone shows you that Henrik is incompetent. What CEO would be focused on something so inconsequential to gameplay, then spend tons of resources on it, talk about it and release it and have it not work.. when he could've been spnding the last 10 month on character skills.

Here is a prime example of how ignorant Henrik is. I did a 2 week study on MO's economy, running simulation @ my firm. Something of this nature would cost tens of thousands of dollars, but I was a fan, so I dedicated my companies resources to help with the release of this game. I found the flow of money and simulated all aspects of money sinks, trnasaction, etc. (economy)
Presenting my finding to Henril in a personal email.. letting him know how (& what) he had set up was not based on supply-side economics. I gave him all he needed to know to turn the economy around and functioning within a day. He didn't even respond.
SOE payed me over $100k for the same heauristic mining of their online economy many years back. Not only did Henrik not take this gift & professional advice.. he dismissed it! He is, (in essence) is a total retard.

Personally I ran to MO in beta because I wanted a harcore sandbox. I ONLY play sandboxes. If you go to the official forums I was once a fanboi. I told people all the classic fanboi excuses "it is beta let them work, the game will be good, it is a small team, etc, etc," But then the game released and months later my horse is still exploding when it gets close to water, I die over and over to invisible people to losing connection when someone crashes a node switching weapons. My favorite was when some patch came out and if you were targeting someone and they dismounted you lost connection. I lost con and died 10 times in about 20 mins. Losing 10 sets of gear and in MO it is hard to replace (even harder now with ZERO people playing)
Then my posts started changing and being critical to the point of even harrasing Henrik when he was in IRC. I was mad! Very mad that I felt I was decieved. Every time Henrik spoke rainbows and puppys dogs came out of his mouth and he would promise "we really tested this time there will be better patches" LIES!
I am still waiting on the other half of fishing Henrik swore to me PERSONALLY in IRC that would be like UO and it would be coming out in 2 weeks.. Since we are talking wasn't Dawn 4 months ago?? Where is that breeding system? Or the notice boards. or the books you can write in that were supposed to be in Dawn??
Back on subject. Henrik had only 2 years of schooling and no formal business training yet he is trying to run a global business and develop a game that would be hard for very exprienced devs to do. Lets not be fools we know how SV was made rich daddy did it. If Henrik was any other person with no schooling he would still be doing what he was doing before MO modding the UE with buds in his room.

The number one mistake of SV, graphics way too over gameplay. I mean, why the hell would you want to make an mmo like that with the unreal engine? Why everything have to be so realistic? The game would had been better if it was like an other fps instead since the engine fit perfectly in a lobby type of game.

Back to "It's the engines fault." again. I like to think it's the dipsticks working on the game rather than the engine. Do people who say these things really believe that others can't see the obvious? It could be open for debate as to whether they should of used it. However it's never been the engines fault rather the crappy little company called Star Vault. The engine works and has a track record to prove it. Star Vault has? Right......
They ripped people off and it will be a good day for those people when whoever is propping this company up pulls the plug. If someone likes the game fine but don't try and blow smoke up peoples rear-ends when it's so obvious what the problem is.

I loled when I realized that is 2 pennies US$.
Think about this: Someone spent 200$ on that 10k shares. They moved the price from .13 to .15 - that is a 15% gain!
