Damn that was insane!!!!!! It seems dodging works very well and close range melee players have a a way to boost towards ranged players. The destructable objects in the level is great and the fact that you can scale almost any object is freakin kool.
Looked like fun. Lots of action and options and things to do. Relieved that melee has ways to close with range. Interesting to see that necro 'downed state' attack.
Hey, was that warrior/guardian about to do a Finish Him! move? Looked like he was jumping in the air for some might two-handed smackdown but then it got aborted for some reason (trebuchet?).
great video, the combat seems smooth and balanced, though i find it strange that a rogue decided to use a gun....
someone said that it reminded them of WOW. and actually i agree! its a basic e-sport to capture objectives, but then again many other games do this. i do think that the way guildwars2 is doing it looks amazing, but let us remember that this a capture the objective e-sport, so its been done countless times.
other than that, i cant wait to get my hands on this game so that i could get owned by a gun weilding bunny. thx op, great vid
Everything looks ok. But that stuttering in the video... Same thing whats happening with GW1 when you lag abit... And when you consider they should be using fast connection or even set the server in the same place? And they get this kind of stutters? Anyyway it looks frustrating...
I wasn't looking forward to GW2 at all, until I saw this vid.
That looks insanely fun. Thanks for posting the vid OP, much appreciated
I was actually hoping for a grittier experience than that. I didn't like the character animations at all: it seemed rather cartoonish. But that isn't a game breaker if the gameplay is strong...

Looked Okay, but that House Elf was really cute. I kept expecting to see him saying "Leave Harry Potter Alone!" On top of that falling from a third story platform should do more than just cause damage, it should disable in some way similar to what LOTRO does. Oh and running accros the very most top tip of trees?
This game has potential, but I am still skeptical about spending money on it. At least it won't have a subscription.
"If half of what you tell me is a lie, how can I believe any of it?"
Looks very fast paced, skill will definitely be a major factor, animations are great, action looks smooth, level design looks fairly thought out, though it's hard to accurately judge...
Only thing that's going to be a hurdle is balance - but hopefully their level scaling system(s) will make it easier to balance things out as they won't have to worry as much about balance across the entire range of levels.
Limiting to 8 skill slots and weapon versus player skills etc. also helps a lot in this aspect.
Looking good. If the World vs. World vs. World can remain this smooth and playable/fun looking with 1000 v 1000 v 1000 battles going on... could very well be one of the most amazing MMO releases in the past decade.

Ha, I had a similar reaction. I was thinking more along the lines of Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach. I know it is only skin deep, but I have a hard time playing any "cutsie" games. I like a grittier more evil styling...
Actually now that I think about it it might remind me of Fable's animation style.

Charr will be VERY popular, dark, evil ,forboding homeland, and a mean looking race. Personally I'm going Asura. Better to see the nerd rage from the "bigger, stronger, more evil" races when they get stomped. :P
Comments
Wow, amazing!! Great post.
thanks for the post!!,been wanted to see the Asura in action,I"ll be playing a Charr though.
For the Legion,for the Charr!!.
He could owned that warrior at 8:50 if he switched weapons and blow some of utilities

Bless its little floppy ears
That looked like fun and the person playing was pretty good.
It's usually some keyboard turning clicker that never played a mmo before controlling characters at these things.
good vid.
Playing: Nothing
Looking forward to: Nothing
Very nice. I'm even more interested in the game now. From the looks of it they are using the keyboard to turn though ugh.
Nahh the keyboard is used to strafe which is normal. also i think the mouse speed is set too low so the turning isnt fast enough.
Playing: Nothing
Looking forward to: Nothing

So WoW had dodging and destructible environments?

that actually looks really good. no one was just sitting still, or running in circles. felt sorta like a third person shooter.

Loving the "looks like WoW" comments, always good for a laugh.
