I'm honestly shocked it's taken WoW this long, and even more shocked Bioware is even debating NOT having this feature in TOR.
It's 2011, appearance tabs should be a staple in every MMO like mailboxes and auction houses.
Honestly, its not. One of the things that drives a gear grind is the physical manifestation of displaying that gear on your character.
WoW is doing it now because the gear grind is losing its appeal and they are bleeding customers, and they are more likely to retain customers through a collection sort of gameplay that cosmetic items facilitate.
They have delayed implementing an appearance tab on purpose.
