One patch and Vanguard is suddenly healthy population wise?
I don't think so.
200 people on a server during peak times isnt a healthy population, you know it and I know it.
I get that you guys like this game but seriously a handful of new players and a few returned vets wanting to see a bug fix patch doesnt make the game suddenly alive and kicking...
This is like me jumping up and down over ryzom getting a patch and suddenly seeing ten dudes in the starting area...
Honestly... Right this moment, as I type this.. I am tempted to re-up my account and start playing again.
I love Vanguard.
However... I don't trust SOE/Smedley.
Anything they do, they do because they see $$$$$ at the end of it. They don't things "for the players", they do it for their own wallets. They'll screw over their loyal players in a heartbeat if they think it'll make them more money.
That's not me "bashing on SOE". It's me stating a fact of history with that company. They've set that precedent.
So, in my mind.. I see them basically giving the game more attention, getting people interested and seeing how it pans out. Then, when they get enough people that it might actually stand on its own as a full sub-based MMO, they announce that VG is going F2P with a cash shop.
This sudden "interest in VG" they're displaying, after treating it like a red-headed stepchild for so long - seems a bit too conveniently timed with the announcement of SWG going offline.
They've got something up their sleeves. Smed's got $$$$ in his eyes with VG, and that's all they're looking at. Guaranteed.
That's the only thing keeping me from re-subbing. I don't want to invest my time into a game, just to have the rug pulled out and have it placed in a cash shop.
That said... I'd sincerely love to be proven wrong.
I got news for ya, ALL companies do it for this reason, it's why they exist. I'm not picking up for SOE, we all know their past, but I sincerely doubt there are companies doing it for the Lulz.
Game update 2 is in the books as of this morning. The population booms that everyone are so enamored with usually fade just as quickly. I will be very happy with a slight population increase that we can maintain month after month.
I think it is because SOE said that they actually are working on a new patch, that was a few weeks ago but it did give some people hope.
My SOE account is still screwed (no payment required and I can play all games for free), and after the SOE-hack incident I swore never to play a SOE game again. But if VG might be 'under construction' I might as well consider to make my return there. That is if Goddess of Destruction won't keep my interrest

It ultimately means nothing.
I see people all over the starter area. I see people in quest hubs. I joined an active guild that consistently has 20-40 people on in the evening. I know that Vanguard has a small population but considering how other games push you into solo quest grinding to max level anyway, my experience here has not really been much different. So I can play a game that encourages grouping with a small population or I can play a game that essentially discourages grouping with a huge population. The results are really very similar in the end.
I am just not seeing the advantage to playing a game with a "healthy" population, if the game design tends to isolate you anyway.
I'm loving the $19.99 Station Pass. I'm finding that the only games I still enjoy are EQ and VG. And I'm also finding that Pirates of the Burning Sea is something quite different and interesting.
you just mentioned the three best games on the pass IMHO as well
RIP Ribbitribbitt you are missed, kid.

QFT.
It is funny that for some of us including me playing all the new releases they all lack something and in many situations, it is lack of content ( especially concerning RIFT which i did like quite a bit ). Not sure why but many game these days are all about gear grind and they even shorten leveling to get you to that hampster wheel. I do not have a max character in vg, i have many highest being 48 and there is so much content I never even gave it a thought.
I have only seen probably 50% of the game ( adventuring areas ) thus far and I have come back go vg often. I expect to be gone for TOR for a while of course, only to retun again to the only game with enough content to warrant a return.
Wise move. It might pick up some of the SWG people.
Especially the SWG Customers with Staion Pass...They should try Vanguard out now before they decide to cancel...Even though I don't play it anymore, it is a great Game...And I would recommend it to anyone...

I'll keep an eye on the VG site for sure now!
