There is a small core of people that still play the game that look past all the bugs. Which there are a lot of. There is a free 2 week trial. Do the before you buy.
how is it i saw some videos looks fun but also buggy. Worth paying for?
Honest opinion would be its not worth paying for, and certainly not 15€/month. MO is a good concept a good idea, but a terrible dev studio handling it, with endless bugs, and not just small glitches, we're talking game breaking bugs which haven't been fixed in over a year, we're talking about broken core-code and use of a game engine that wasn't meant to be used the way its being used.
Apart from bugs, the game has extremely limited content and you will quickly find yourself running out of ideas for stuff to do ingame. there are only 2 dungeons and 1 only real raid target, there are no loots (meaning everything you will use has to be achieved thru crafting or buying to vendors) and you will have maxed out you char stats+equipement in a matter of 2 weeks.
If you want to play something similar that's worth paying, try DarkFall Online, at least its got rich PvE content, its finished and polished and the world is huge.
As of right now MO is nothing more than a paying Alpha/Beta version of a game.
To give you an idea, most of the fans admit paying to support the idea and keep funding the game developement, and thus accept to pay even when they're not playing for entire months.

Errr... let's not confuse the capability of the engine with the capability of the people using it.
Unreal Engine 3 is quite capable of supporting MMORPGs. It was rec-coded from the ground up to support massive streaming worlds and many characters on-screen at once, in part for that purpose. Epic saw how many developers were using their 2 and 2.5 generation engine for that genre and likely saw an opportunity there.
There are several other MMOs in development and/or launched that use UE3; TERA, Huxley, Blade & Soul and Continent of The Ninth to name a handful.

If it were $3-$5 a month I would pay for it. But in the state it is in now no way.
Also do not blame UE, SV does that enough. Do not blame the tools blame the worker. We all know what experrince the dev team has.
They weren't well experienced to start, but many of them now have 4 or 5 years worth of experience working specifically with these tools.
The game has its problems, and its bugs, but it's not nearly as bad as some try really hard to make it seem, at least not in my opinion. And, most people will agree that it has been slowly but steadily improving.
Give it a shot, OP. Your personal experience will probably be a lot more valuable than reading posts on the internet.

I can't agree more, once I get my new PC built I will for sure be giving MO a play, and see how well it is performing compared to the negative opinion shown in many MO threads.
I hope Henrik is able to develop a great game, but from the knowledge i have so far - it seems either incredibly slow progress, or a massive problem, this will be found out once I give the game a try.

They were not well experienced to start out but now they are?? Ok so if you keep making the same mistake over and over and there is no one there to guide you how do you now it was a mistake. These guys need to go back to school. And as far as most people agreeing it is steadily going up... Which ones are those the few still playing or the thousands that have quit the game?
It has been 15 months since release and one thing also everyone can agree with is there has never been a patch that was good.. And every major patch fucks the game up for weeks.
well one things for certain once you paly it its unforgetable if you liek it or not, its one of those games you will liekyl have memories of throughout your gaming life. Hell look even on this forum and you will see many players here who havent subscribed to the game in a year and are regular posters. Some dedicate alot of time posting in this forum who dislike the game because they simply cant forget it and those who liek it wont paly anything else. So give the trial a go what harm can it do
also moreplex there were 2 patches to my memory that wrre good without bugs, im sure 1 or 2 but nothing memorable.
there are 2 types of mmo, imitators and innovaters.
I have played MO since launch, enjoyed it a lot but I have also taken some long breaks due to frustration and boredom.
The game is a unique experience, that's for sure. Whether you can stomach the unpolished state it's in is up to you, but just to give you some hints:
You will probably not like MO if you
* are a themepark enthusiast who feels lost without quests, maps, in-game gps and preset class systems
* expect a smooth, finished and well-running game
* can't stand getting killed by some random dude who takes all you hard-earned loot, or getting your pockets picked while banking your stuff
On the other hand, if you like a challenge, enjoy interacting with others to gain information, don't bother doing some research on your own and have some patience with technical unstabilities, you'll probably enjoy the game - at least for a while.
For me as a long time player, the major problem is a lack of fun stuff to do once you've leveled all yout toons up. The AI sucks, there is no PvE except mat grinding, guild warfare is purposeless and there are no functioning empire building tools. Most guilds just sit around in their empty and useless houses/keeps, grind some more mats, go on some random PvP sprees, or troll the forums to keep the "political scene" (usually just a lot of e-peening and trashtalk) alive.
If SV manages to implement working and meaningful territory control, good AI and some basic sandbox tools - like being able to enter your guild's palisade without waiting for another player to open the gates for you - MO with be a totally awesome game. Given their track record however, I doubt they'll be able to ever pull it off.

Well luckily it does not cost 15 €/month. Its only 11.40 €/month
Sure, if you take 6 month of sub, which isn't a good idea when trying a game which is known for being buggy and not very good. If you want to experience it, you don't take 6 month sub, nobody does that.
I can't believe you resorted to trying to be a smartass with that kind of answer, as it doesn't even change my point, since 11,40 is still way too expensive.

Not if you are EU based, then it's 14.25 eur. I think majority of AAA titles cost less, and considered the amount of content and polish you get there..

Largely true with one additional caveat. The random killings and thefts will remain prevalent and the support staff will pretty much ignore all rules and guidelines in favor of maximizing that state of affairs for some time to come. SV staff seemingly loved Ultima Online enough so that they are recreating and trying to enhance what they loved--Player Killing (PK). They just don't want you to know that and may not even believe that about themselves.
Unless he gets a much larger player base Henrik is starting to look like Ozymandias.

What are you talking about? The game features full loot, free-for-all PvP, and also thievery. Why would the support staff do anything about that, as long as there is no hacking or simliar illegal activities going on?
Besides, it's no secret that Henrik himself played a red in UO, and that the idea behind the game is to create a world of risk vs reward, of constant danger. MO is a harsh and unforgiving game when it comes to PvP and that has been clear from the start. If you missed that and expected a safe game I'm sorry, but it's your own fault.

Features these things, yes but as far as "no hacking or simliar illegal activities" goes there is a perverse double standard applied.
Let the reds be threatened by blue counterstrike and the staff will outright interfere on behalf of the reds in some massive fashion: Risar invasion at the siege site, "please don't attack this weekend because we planned to move the red palisade", turning off asset destruction just as the attack was starting, etc.
Not to mention the gm/counselor one-sided decisions about what things are exploits and under what conditions but one standard applies to the reds and a different one applies to the blues. Let the reds do it and they get a slap on the wrist....maybe.
It has happened too often to be chance or bad luck.
Worse, there is a significant issue about what 'PvP' means. Its very clear at this point that Henrik includes griefing and cheap shot PKing within the world of PvP. It makes him one with the other high-school bullies he and his staff defend.
Now these things too are perfectly clear. This isn't "a world of risk vs reward" and It isn't 'PvP'; its the essence of bullying in a virtual setting. By all means enjoy it; better there than out iin the real world.
My friends list there is long. If I'm lucky, one will now be on when I am. We've left in droves so you guys are going to have to play with yourselves soon enough.
One thing is certain. Henrik and SV generally have finally received a massive "no confidence" vote from a significant portion of the player base. Trust thus betrayed will be hard to win back.

please kaidline, jsut stop. you dont pvp you only mine, you have no valid opinions in this department. You even made a complaint when a guy kileld your miner in cavecamp and a thread on it. MO simply isnt for you, if you arent prepared to get killed in a full loot pvp game then you shouldnt play it. Also no there isnt any red favoritism by gms, the asset destruction was turned off due to the failed bug it had nothing to do with red players, the trial accounts were allowed to hold boulders during your attack on aq keep when aq specifically complained about it we were told its allowed. Once we used them on wessex keep and ely keep you all started raging and it was quickly changed in the recent patch.
there was no betrayal, full loot full pvp and asset destruction was in from day one, what did you think would happen when you attack a pvp focused guilds assets?

I think nortoni has some valid points. I love the game and the concept but the delivery not so much. The game is bugged to hell , pvp is sluggish and the dev team seem to be in holiday mode. Now what I mean on the devs is that they are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Dont have enough money to hire more devs and the only way to fix the game (imo) is to hire more people and get work done faster, people simply will not wait.
Fair enough deathshroud stick up for the game you love but that last reply seems as if you go on your own tangent and I was wondering how the reply tied in with the quoted comments.
I find it funny that you say his (nortoni) opinion does not count when the game is lossing players right and left. What I mean by this is there must be something wrong otherwise people would not be leaving in droves.
Now on the support staff- I think they cop alot of bad press in some cases maybe it is warrented. But should we be blaiming them or the devs. Its the devs that make the rules and the gm's just enforce them. So is there a strict policy that the gm's follow? Having a guess I would say there is but it would be left to Interpretation. Are there corrupt mods of course there are and has the gm team been biased on occasions yes it has.
Now what I dont get is people arguing over what the game is (the essence of the game) , not what is broken, not working as intended (lol name one system that is? I will wait - sorry cheap joke) and what can be done to get the game to a point of being viable.
Because the way I see it if they dont get there rear into gear , the end maybe near (im avaliable for parties if needed)

Its about me
please kaidline, jsut stop. you dont pvp you only mine, you have no valid opinions in this department. Once we used them on wessex keep and ely keep you all started raging and it was quickly changed in the recent patch.

there was no betrayal, full loot full pvp and asset destruction was in from day one, what did you think would happen when you attack a pvp focused guilds assets?
there are 2 types of mmo, imitators and innovaters.
