What is also funny is that Tim Burton's Batman startedt he darkening of the character at least in film. So those familiar with the darker graphic novels which came out in the 80s felt like 'finally - the real batman, not Adam West'.
And now, when I re-watch that series of Batman movies....well, I just can't- the camp I see in it now makes me want to vomit and makes me appreciate Adam West a whole lot more.
But I think the article hits the nail on the head, but I think it isn't so much that I'm 'sick' of comic book movies, but rather, I'm becoming 'sickened' by the fact that the recent ones, (the most recent batman's excluded) are straying so far from the source.
But then again, how many comic nerds does it take to change a light bulb? One to change it and the rest to say 'worst light bulb changing, ever.'
I have always found people that like comics to be a bit ... well you know ... weird. Something about portraying the world in a definative style that is not there own. Calling cartoons art ...
As for the films well I suppose they are great if you are a young teenager. If you like them whilst being an adult then ... I guess you are abit like I described above.
I'm pretty sure hollywood is totally out of ideas. As someone who has never cared about comic books or comic book movies I've never understood the fascination people have with them.
The official death knell of Hollywoods creativity, the absolute nadir was Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull.
We get a few cool things (Super) and some awesome thrill rides from the AGR /FX guys. But originality or faithful storytelling? Not so much.
Well, the scary part is that he seems rather serious about the burn-part....
The sylvari ordered Rice n chicken in a bar. The waiter asked him: "exploded or intact?" He angrily answered: "Intact of course! Do you take me for a fool?"
Can't say I am sick of comic book movies yet... Even the bad ones are better than the majority of movies in other genres we see hitting theaters now.
To me, the upcoming Spiderman movie has about the same artistic weight as The Daughter of Dracula. Whether it's good or not, it won't be Raimi's Original.
There are aspects of the upcoming comic book movies that do concern me though.
Mark Ruffalo playing Bruce Banner/Hulk. Of all the characters in the Marvel Universe, few are as widely recognizable and as easy to mess up as this one is. Most of us can still actively envision the Bixby/Ferrigno version and seeing something to far removed from that is jarring.
Ang Lee's version is a great example.
As much as I hate to say it, Norton did a solid job with the character and they should have probably stuck with him. If for no other reason than recognition.
Joss Whedon is an incredible writer and great in managing ensemble casts, wonder if his brand of humor will translate well in the setting of the Avengers though.
Kind of sick of superheroes in general. But like other posters here its bad comic book movies that really piss in the punchbowl. It doesn't help that comic books do not lend themselves well to light entertainment. Its impossible to attempt to cram years worth of story line, character development, growth, allies and enemies into one two hour film, without dissapointing both the comic book fans and movie fans.
It doesn't help that Hollywood seems to think they need to change things around because "fans don't want to just see the comic on the big screen." Yeah well you know what Hollywood jackasses? We do. We don't need to see the entire history of the character rehased on film, but at least don't make retarded changes that make the characters nearly unrecognisable. We fans know the story, let's see some new adventures of our favorite characters.
Or worse film makers waste everyones time by starting with the origin of the character. These are iconic heroes for the most part, even people who have never cracked a comic book will get the gist of it, just get on with the *bleeping* KERPOW BANG KERSPLATTING already.(Hulk movies I'm looking at you.)
Oh well, while the film industry still doesn't seem to understand nor care about the IPs they are adapting to film, at least in some ways the movies are getting better. (Look up some of the comic book films of the 70s and 80s if you think we have it bad now) And once an awhile there is even a rare gem. Since Comic books are one of the current fads in Hollywood and look to continue to be for some time, all we true fans can really do is sit by the steaming river of celluloid diarrhea and pan for the rare nuggets of gold.

I am fine with the superhero movies we have been getting (except maybe Ang Lee's Hulk) right up until the point they decided to reboot franchises premateurely...
Reboot Spiderman ? um its been what a few years ? I wasnt a huge fan of the Toby Macguire films but even so, reboot ? no thanks.
Reboot or try to prequel the xmen films ? yeah nice try but you managed to screw it up with xmen first class & wolverine origins....
Marvel Studios seems to be doing these films right (Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, the incredible Hulk) so i guess it takes the IP holder to finally push things in the right direction instead of licencing it out.

They shouldn't stop making comic book movies.
They should stop making $hitty comic book movies.

Hopefully this will change with The Hobbit.

Those were his last words.

I really hope it does.

Yep can never have enough. i loved Thor and waiting for third installment of batman
i'm not sick of superhero movies, i'm sick of the damn writers and directors not following the actual lore. so far their "visions" are pathetic.
