The majority of the screaming, shouting and complaining now comes from people who just wanted to get into beta, so why not just let people sign up and come with a new announcement when the app was ready? I realize there would still be complaining from the ones that thought they would get into beta as soon as they signed up, but still, better than now.

As others have said earlier, creating a page for just signing up for something (just taking input text-data and storing it somewhere) isn't that hard, so I don't think the technical problems lies there, and imo that is something they could easily have done no matter what, and well, maybe should have done no matter what, to get the focus away from that...

Why would Funcom want more bad press then it is already getting.

Yeah, that is indeed a good question...

I love riddles, so they have my attention.  It seems far more of a brain game than a popularity contest so far.  Twitter and Facebook are being used to give us clues rather than to pester us to spam 500 friends for a beta invite.  So far, I approve of this process.

Funcom is just so *lol* I mean, don 't they test their stuff? Those thinking its part of the game do you really honestly believe Funcom would want more bad press?

We need a MMORPG Cataclysm asap, finish the dark age of MMORPGS now!

All I got to say is another huge X mark for funcom on messing things up, and folks wonder why I call them failcom.

Lots of fail-boat to go around for this company.

SO they had issues with the sign up event/ game big deal.

    It wasnt even the beta.

But I can understand people's fustration, the information and updates about the situation could and should have done ALOT better, the RP twists they did to the update messages ,while they are amusing, just lead to too much confusion.

And I still DO want clarity about it all. Delayed... okey.. a hour a week a month? Give us something.

That said the disapointing sign up event doesnt matter really. When actual beta does start , this will be forgotten and even if it doesnt, people will know its irrelevant. After all its the game that matters not some silly flash game event.

    Factless, baseless opinion.

I will wait to ass judgement on this or any game until I can play it.  While this set back is unfortunate, I believe realistically you have to expect issues when a game is in testing mode which Secret Wars obviously is in.

They thought they were ready.  When it was time, it didn't go as planned.  It happens.  I know it sucks for those who wanted in the beta, but lets face it.  They had a beta type problem.  Isn't that what beta is supposed to fix.

I have launched a couple of hundred websites and about a hundred web applications in my professional career. Some so complex and important if they would fail for just one hour, it would cost the company tens of thousands of dollars of dollars.

Not a single one has failed so bad it had to be taken down before it even got rolled out. Not a single one had to be delayed for even a day when a release date was announced to the client.

Failcom is just again showing how crappy and unprofessional they are. I was about to give TSW a chance, but after this disaster i will just not bother anymore until it has been released for about a year and goone F2P. Even then i probably wont bother.

Considering no one even knows what the real problem is people are sure to jump on hate bandwagon but you went even a step further and shamelessly injected 'self praise' into it. Not that i believe a word of it..but still.....

    Bravo!!

What did i expect, knee jerk reactions are common sight on these forums. The rude comments were uncalled for.

Well... the beta is a bug-testing phase right? This is the first bug of the beta, and people are whining and crying about not being able to have fun and play the game. They don't give a crap about helping funcom, or what's best for the game, they're just loudly proclaiming their selfishness and throwing a tantrum in public for all to see. Anyone who posts something negative about funcom and the beta probably never had any intentions to help funcom in the first place. So it's not completely baseless.

    edit: clarity

I bet all those who actually BELIEVE this to NOT be pre-planned, have not been following the TSW arg before.

There are numerous signs that this was preplanned.

The so called "beta delay" IS the arg start.

So I bet those who know will set their clocks to work according to their society.
