To any of you who have questions what VTM is all about. Do yourself a favor and play the game Bloodlines. It's a wonderful game and will give you an idea what to hope for or expect from WoDo.
Maybe I will save some people having to say this in threads over and over again... Probably not.
PS: Oceanside Hotel made me scream like a little girl.

Related topic, I totally LOVE the Bloodlines installment of that game series!
Deus Ex plays A LOT like it (the new one) so if you've played Deus Ex human revolution, and don't mind going back in time graphically to the early 2000's this game is seriously a "blood" relative of it.
I'm very hopeful the MMO comes somewhere close to where that game aimed for in my heart.
QFT. One of the best single player rpg's of all time. Very, very underated in my humble opinion. I have never been able to get it to run in windows 7 though.
P.S Have played through the game about 8 times, every single time I have played Oceanside Hotel I get a very bad case of the poopy pants........Too much information? Tell it to my dry cleaner!
More like Bloodlines plays like the original Deus Ex which came 4 years before it.

I got it to work on 7 recently had to run in compatability mode for XP and as an admin, had to dust off my old copy from storage hehe
Turn off UAC and you never have to mess with compatibility again. I haven't had to run even one old game in compat mode yet on 7 Ultimate x64.

Honestly having played Deus Ex, Deus Ex: Invisable War, and Blood lines, i would agree.
However, my point was not to point out how "old school" I am with game knowlege or anything I was merely pointing out if you have recently played Human Revolution, a game which is getting a lot of notice right now, that it plays a lot like bloodlines, which the OP mentions.
I don't see a need to include an entire game history in every single post that explains which game came first etc.
Edit: grammar
I keep seeing people say that they have problems running it, but I had no problems playing it on Windows 7. Are the people that are having issues on it running the 64-bit version? That's the only thing I can think of.
Didn't think of checking I was running it as admin. Quickly! To the old games storage rack!.............I can do that on my own actually thanks for the info m8:)
OT. Anybody intrested in playing this google Vampire The Masquerade ultimate bloodlines. This is a fan made updated version containing all the unoficial patches made after release by the games loyal community. The original release is buggy as a rainforest floor. The unoficial patches make it very playable.
Maybe? I'm running 32 so that would explain why it works for me.
Congrats on your 666th post there.
Bloodlines story and gameplay will quickly make you forget you are playing such an archaic game.

This is true, there are a lot of good patches out there to fix the bugs... its worse than Human Revolution or Dead Island's amount of bugs tbh lol.
We forget so quickly how buggy things USED to be!
(Game is 100% flawless with patches though)
Yeah, I have Windows 7 x64. Most of the other storys I have heard about people having trouble running the game has been for the 64 version.
I play it just fine on Windows 7 Ultimate x64, so I don't think being x64 actually has anything to do with it.

I absolutely loved that game. I understand that if you buy it off steam, there are some glitches that can be fixed by an unoffical patch. I played with the game patched and didn't have a problem. This game was light years ahead of it's time. And yes, I am pretty sure I cried myself to sleep after playing through the oceanside hotel!
i got my copy from steam and had no problems with it working.
there is also some mods at fileplanet u might want to check out.
Here's the site I use for unofficial patches (located just below the official patch, which is also hosted there): http://www.patches-scrolls.de/vampire_bloodlines.php. When you install the latest unofficial patch, you'll be given the choice to install either the normal version or the "plus" version. The normal version is essentially just bug fixes, whereas the "plus" version adds content that was in the original data files but never implemented. In some cases, that results in significant changes to game-play, so it's usually recommended to start with the normal version first.

I highly recommend you play as a Malkavian if you have any sense of humor at all.
That's going to be my determining factor for whether I play the MMO or not. If I can't get quests by talking to a lamp post or a mailbox, it just won't be any fun.
Also, I'm still waiting to meet a real-life version of the "sisters" as I will marry her in a heartbeat.

"Aww great a bloody malkavian just what I needed!" heh. I need to find that game and the fan patches.
Being a pessimist is a win-win pattern of thinking. If you're a pessimist (I'll admit that I am!) you're either:
A. Proven right (if something bad happens)
or
B. Pleasantly surprised (if something good happens)
Either way, you can't lose! Try it out sometime!
I loved playing as Gangrel. I would be a lock picker/hacker/kinda stealthy but once I'm noticed I go beserk and kill everything. Being a werebat was baller.
You can get the game on Steam (http://store.steampowered.com/app/2600/) and the patches are linked in my earlier post in this thread. Unfortunately, you missed the daily special on it a month or two ago ($4.99), and it's a bit on the pricy side now for a game of its age ($19.99). Still, it provides quite a bit of playtime.
So weird, I actually started playing this again yesterday...

Seems to be a problem somewhere with the unofficial patch links. When you click the download links, they go to Filefront but instead of the download they just go to Filefront's main page. And searching FF manually only comes up with the 6.6 version of the unofficial patch as the highest available.
Edit: I solved it. Make sure to click on the tab "Mirror 1" and not on "Filefront".

Malkavian is a good first run. I remember also going Venture one run and creating a whore. I was completely amazed. You can get through a lot of the game without combat with a little stealth and... persuasion. Too many games it's not even an option.

Masquerade was also an incredible game for its time. Great story, high customization and the graphics were really top notch. It strayed a little from offical lore in a few respects but was pretty true for the most part.
I was fortunate enough to have picked it up while it was on sale, but after playing it, it would have been well worth $20. I was only expecting something to pass the time with, but ended up with one of the most engaging RP games I've ever played. I can't believe this gem escaped my notice back when it was released. Maybe it was concerns about the bugs. Though after installing one of the fan patches, it ran smooth as silk, even on Win7/64.
Highly recommended.
