I don't think he is talking about the quality of mods, but how it is installed into the computer itself. I'm not sure if it was my problem or what, but when I uninstall oblivion, all the DLC and mods was still installed into the computer, I had to manually uninstall them each myself. The quality of mods was amazing, but the integration of it was horrific.
I think that's a "your mileage may vary" type of thing.
My last computer had that same issue where I would uninstall and all the mods would be there. So this new computer I'm using apparently doesn't do that.
I thought I could uninstall and reinstall oblvioin without uninstalling all my mods. And I use a LOT of mods. Well, it uninstalled everything.
oh well, a clean install is always good.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
Bad graphics you say? Sweet, maybe I'll be able to play it after all. The more life I can suck out of this old hunk of shit laptop, the better.
Its maybe a console port but PC gets AA and higher resolution and prolly alot more settings to tweak the game so prolly looks alot better then console version.
Hope to build full AMD system RYZEN/VEGA/AM4!!!

I bit the bullet and just bought a Logitech F310 controller for my PC and I really couldn't be happier. When you don't need to fine tuned aiming control that a keyboard/mouse gives you, the controller is so much easier to use for long play sessions.
At the time, it really angered me that I had to do that for my PC game, but this is one of the times when giving in worked out a lot better than expected.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.
I sincerely hope it is not a console port. I am however very pleased it has 3rd person as an option. I am very bad with 1st person and I get terrible headaches in 1st person shooters. I played Oblivion but I hated the 1st person perspective and I found the graphics as far as enviroment was fine but the people were downright ugly. I know there were some mods to change that I must go get that one of these days and try to play Oblivion again and finish it. I never got very far although it was interesting and fun.
Speaking of mods, I just hope Skyrim has a better mod-support than Obvilion cause my god was Obvilion mod support attrocious!
Some how i think your joking right?
If there is one game that have one of biggest and longest mod communitys then its Elder Scrolls specially Oblivion and still every week almost new mods.
And there where some AWESOME mods for Oblivion like the total conversion to morrowind.
But don't worry Skyrim will be huge with MODS plenty on the way.
I like Elder Scroll series sinds Morrowind(My favorite btw)also becouse of mods not only game it self.
He might be talking about the Steam version of Oblivion. I had countless problems with gettings mods to stick there. You CAN apply them. The game starts with the mods. But after several minutes of play the game crashes. The Steam install constantly updates the game to vannilla standards, even if you designate the game not to update without your permission ( a longstanding Steam issue to me).
I lost long ago my original Oblivion disc, and I bought the GOTY on Steam. Had these problems, worked on it for days, but to no avail. I had to go out and buy the physical GOTY discs and finally enjoy the game and its mods properly. It's a pity I had to buy this game that many times to enjoy it. Lost the old discs? Np. But the mod support with the Steam version is quite nasty.
"I have only two out of my company and 20 out of some other company. We need support, but it is almost suicide to try to get it here as we are swept by machine gun fire and a constant barrage is on us. I have no one on my left and only a few on my right. I will hold." Console port graphical quality has never been an issue for me. My primary concern and usual disappointment from previous ports is the control scheme and ridiculous UI and menu navigation. They might save money by making hybrid games, but they usually piss off one side or even both when they refuse to put in the time and effort to make seperatue UI's and controls for both platforms. I absolutely will not play a PC game that requires a controller to be played with any sense of comfort.

The only problem I heard about from PC controls was that some players got confused that the left mouse button activated the action in the right hand, and the right mouse button activated the left hand.
So in Skyrim you can have two daggers in either hand, or a fireball in your left hand and a sword in your right. Then you can activate either (and risk a bunch of stam) block was it's own button and I think holding both gave you a block as well. Or you could just go Oblivion style and equipt a shield in your left hand (therefore right button hold shield blocks) and a sword in your right (therefore left button click) and basically.. Yeah that mess seems to be the only real PC issue. Menu navigation / world intereactions were very Fallout 3 from my understanding.
I used to play MMOs like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee.
If you judge this game only because of graphics, your not worthy enough to play this epic game.
Good graphics or not, the gameplay will be beast just like the previous TES games.
Can't agree more!
Heck, I'm even still playing Morrowind. No HD setup, only 4:3 screens. Bad interface compared to Oblivion, and graphics are very rough. But the gameplay is just AMAZING!
Also still playing Baldur's Gate at times (DX6 or 7, right?). Well, graphics are not even worth to mention (320x200 in 256 colors LOL), but by far one of the best stories told in RPG games in general...
And then Dragon Age. Looks awesome, but story..? I bought it, installed it, played it a bit and fell asleep doing so... Actually still wondering why it's still installed on my HDD
Bottom line (@OP) single-player RPG's are more about story-telling than graphics
Exactly. Who cares? 1hr playing the game and you won't be thinking about how you wish for more detailed shadows, or ambient occlusion or whatever. You'll be sucked in to your own story.
I love Witcher 2, and sure it looks amazing, but did I think about that for more than 5 mins at the start? Of course not because after that I was in the middle of a siege!

You know whats worse? I'm left handed, so its like double confusion :P
How much WoW could a WoWhater hate, if a WoWhater could hate WoW? As much WoW as a WoWhater would, if a WoWhater could hate WoW.

Actually you wanna know what's worse than that?
Unless something has changed since convention season.. You still can't put a shield in the right hand.
