I have been waiting soooooooo long for this, and then they go and push it out just before Xmas? (22/12/11 in the UK).

This is a stunt, right? Who in their right mind releases a game at that sort of time? A lot of us will be working over most of Xmas and the new year, or seeing family, or both! Man, this sucks arse..

I would rather they just pushed it back to mid January.....

Just makes no commercial sense either, forgetting the above, most punters wont have much money to spare by the 22nd...pfft

Still going to buy the bugger though...

    Too many alts!!

Honestly, with nearly 500K pre-orders in the US alone...I doubt they're very worried about the 'commercial' success :D  You could 'guesstimate' that including digital and the rest of the world, pre-orders would already be over 1 million

About time. Glad to see it's still 2011. Was worried this game was gunna get pushed a little too close to some other potentially awesome time sinks.

Heck this is a great date for gaming over the holiday season. Will be a blast as Bioware don't make bad games.

Hmmm, was it yesterday I said that Bioware was free to announce the release date now that Blizz officially pushed Diablo to next year?

awesome!!!! finaly a release date. i am concerned with the timing though. i dont think they will get as many sales as they are thinking for the christmas rush due to it being right at christmas. maybe the beginning of december would have been better.

at least i know what i am doing over the holidays though

It will be the most bumpiest launch in mmo history so the best thing to do when your owner is telling you your time is up is to release within a time frame where less people will be available. You don't see many other mmos in he past 5 years release almost on Christmas day do you ?  Hell no because not many is around to play!

    Excellent!

Cant wait for this game, its going to be epic:)

Super glad I didn't bother preordering as I have much better things to do xmas week.

LFD tools are great for cramming people into content, but quality > quantity.
I am, usually on the sandbox .. more "hardcore" side of things, but I also do just want to have fun. So lighten up already :)

To this point Bw has shown they aren't following the traditions set by the mmorpg industry and considering the way we tend to speak about the industry I'd say that it is a good thing and it doesn't bother me that what you suggest is the reasoning in the least.

I'm really quite "meh" about the game now. So it has a release date. Wooo. Not really able to get excited anymore.

I absolutely love Star Wars, lightsabers and Jedi. But... I prefer fluid action (like Jedi Academy or Diablo-esque RPGs) to pressing skill keys that do preset, clunky movements strung together in a fake, static way. The game appears to lack flow and action; and it is following the same old, boring RPG conventions that bring nothing really new to the table. It's like WoW with Jedi, and that disappoints me a great deal.

Sorry to sound so negative, as I know a lot of people are looking forward to the game. But the more I've thought about it over the last few months, the more I've come to realise that what the Star Wars community lacks is a real action RPG with as much depth as SWTOR is bringing. Will I feel like a Jedi/Sith, or will I feel like a robot pressing the right buttons at the right time?

However, despite my doubts, the story may still entice me to try it out. :)

Well here is hoping they have it polished by then and a stable launch plan.

Not sure if this helps you any but one of the consistant comments from people who have tried the game at shows, etc is how smooth and fluid the combat is. It IS still MMO combat but many say it is still fun.
