    Oh Yeah?

Wait until you see the price of a collectors edition on Ebay.

    Then make that statement.

No.  The collector's edition will still be sold after the game goes live so selling it on eBay would in fact cause you to LOOSE money.  The only way the prices would skyrocket there was if they stopped selling the CE and there has been no inclinatios of that wither in this game or any other game that offered a CE.

Can you get a Collectors Edition  Right now? Right this minute ?

It came with a limited edition Statue. Do you think they just have a few hundred thousand more of those lying around?

Collectors edition are SOLD OUT! They may have a watered down brick and mortar store CE but, I wouldn't hold my breath.

If I see one, I'm gonna snatch it up quick.

Have a sense of humor, no need to get ALL MODDY ! :) A Simpson's quote shouldn't be worth a warning. You are lucky anyone is bothering to read this rag.

    From the above official website;

We’re pleased to announce that Star Wars: The Old Republic is available now for pre-order, while supplies last.

BioWare has always had a history of delivering high quality experiences for our customers and we are dedicated to making sure that track record continues with Star Wars: The Old Republic. Our focus is on not only delivering a high quality game, but also in developing a thriving online environment. In order to ensure a great user experience we have decided to limit initial launch supply. Further supplies will be released post-launch.

There will always be the digital purchases. Those are never limited.

Trust me You are wrong they are limited as well when Bioware gets to that magic number and we have no idea what that number is SALES WILL BE CUT OFF.

Maybe, but like I mentioned about two  or  three posts above yours, is that EA is the publisher and they fit the bill for Bioware. EA is one of those that wants there money as soon as they can grab it. But we will see. I already got my preorder  and registered.

BW/EA will make my investment of physical CE's i have for sale soon, much more valuable then they currently are.If all goes well i should make some pretty good bank on the extras boxes.

I don't think bioware will limit sales, if they have 700.000 units for retail and 1 million people want the game then they have lost out on a massive amount of money, so limiting sales is a stupid idea.

My concern is I don't want players reading this stuff thinking that they have time to order and can wait until the last min they don't. The release date is the 20th of Dec and it's going to be a rolling early access start I would bet the early access will be more than a few days maybe a week or 2. Once we get within a month or so of release good luck getting a copy of the game. Bioware has said more than once they will not let a flood of players into the game and ruin everyone first impressions by causing long queues and lag. You have been warned.

You want a smooth rollout for your MMO. This makes a huge difference in longevity. Because if pure economics was driving this, you want a pre Thanksgiving release. Black Friday is a huge, huge sales day.

I can't wait to hear all the wailing and screaming from people who can't get a copy or have to wait on a waiting list.

Got my DDE day1 and registered within 12 hours of sales opening. (I had to wait til after work.)

Now , I think I'm going to go find a nice new adult guild to play with. (I usually join a new guild in a new game.)

Nice scare tactics man. if there is no copies left that EA's loss not mine, im sure i can spend my money on one of a number of games coming out around christmas.

This "scare tactics" line of thinking on a GAME is pretty strange. Now, if it were bread lines forced because of a broken communist dictatorship like in Russia several decades ago.....maybe they might have something. But for a game?

IM not buying the game period so no loss for me, I never buy EA games its a mather of principles. Im European though and dont think the game will be that big over here...

This           EA is only known for overpublicized cash-cow games with no gameplay depth or replay value, an EA logo on a box to me is the proverbial grain of salt, buyers beware kind of thing.

If I wasnt a fan of Star Wars or some of Bioware's earlier work I wouldnt give this game a second thought. Still I wont preorder and gonna wait the standard 1month post release to see how this MMO fares.

MMO's are like turtle hatchlings, most dont make it to the water and I wouldnt bet on one before it hatches, guess what I'm saying is MMO's either die or get better after launch so just like you've waited years for a game to be developed it pays to wait an extra month or so to see if it passes or fails. Dont be fooled by hype or sales tactics, only time will tell the truth in this case I certainly wouldnt trust EA to do it.

    Just my 2 cents.

Warhammer Online Pre-Orders broke EA's pre-order record for any title previously released.

Huge pre-order numbers only mean EA is doing a great job of making people dig into their wallets so they can mindlessly toss money at a game they know little about. :/

That's not what I heard. Could you elaberate on this a bit? I'll give you some background on the issues I had with it:

PvP for melee classes involved running into a huge crowd and getting stunned endlessly due to the lack of sensible diminishing returns and the lack of other people playing melee classes. Knockbacks were also thrown around a bunch.

Healers were impossible to kill and never ran out of resources.

There was hardly any synergy to my abilities, and most of it felt like random button mashing of basic strike type abilities until I could use my renown, which was fairly disappointing for the effort required.

Renown levels were an enormous grind which separated players far too much. Fighting people with higher renown pretty much meant death.

    Win trading.

Those were my main issues. I'm fairly doubtful that they've been fixed up enough to be worth a subscription. :/

In the UK it's down from #3 to #4 on the bestselling pc games behind Skyrim #3, football manager 2012 #2 and BF 3 #1.

Obviously it's not going to STAY on the top spot once most people who are going to pre-order have already done so... Also console games and single player games in general usually sell a lot more copies than MMOGs. The slowdown in pre-orders indicates exactly that and nothing more...

    Hi,

Welcome to the forums. It's this amazing place where everyone can post topics about whatever they want, as long as it's within the forum rules. I could, for example, make a topic about the lack of pink sparkly space dragons in SWToR (or any other game really... There's a disturbing lack of pink sparkly space dragons in MMOs....) and it'd be totally fine!

Because these are just forums and not actual news stories by professional news-websites (which I know can be confusing with shared terms such as "topics" and the ability to comment on them for newcomers). But they're really quite different and serve vasty different purposes. One has the purpose of informing it's audience of noteworthy changes and developments while the other has the purpose of allowing it's audience to share whatever they feel is worthwhile sharing (whether you find it wortwhile is irrelevant, unless it's an elephant in which case it's irrelephant).

I'll let you figure out which one is which.

Your avatar is too much lol.  I didn't know you could produce that look at me lip pucker in a game avatar but you managed to do that perfectly.  Kudos.

Not suprising, imo SW is not that crazy popular IP in EU as in US, add to the fact that game itself doesnt realy impress ppl who are not crazy about SW.

why is it when I look that it is #10 in best sellers. Behind things like sonly playstation network card (lol?), NBA 2k12, and xbox live 1600 points.

anyways hope the game does well regardless, been 7 years since we've have a good and polished mmo released.

Nah.  I just enjoy getting under the skin of your typical hater.  It sure does bring you out of the woodwork practically frothing at the mouth.  You even had to throw in the capital letters for effect.  It's as though any positive reviews or through the roof sales is like a slap in the face to you fools.  I wonder what you'll do with yourselves when this game turns into a sustained, massive hit.
