3 hour downtime and counting with no info. I guess they still have not learned you need 24 hour support in an mmorpg.

Do you even play? Why do you spend so much time here making hate-threads that are severely twisted and/or completely wrong...?
Anyways, the downtime was a bit weird. Discord came on and fixed as soon as he found out. And if someone like you plays (who seems to spend a lot of time watching - and maybe player? - the game), they could probably use the break. It's a bit unhealthy the way you're acting.
I have to agree that normally 3 hours of downtime is no big deal...But coming from a company who refuses to work weekends, takes vacations after patches/release and have had such a huge ABNORMAL amount of downtime, bugs, shady buisness practices and VIRAL MARKETING TACTICS spreading lies about how great this game works- This is totally a valid thread.
I mean, look at some of the posts by a certain person who supposidly does not work for SV. Things like "Bug tracker back up" and "players having fun"...
You are aware that it is against the law in the country that they work in for them to work Weekends, right? And that they are required to take a certain amount of vacation time, as well. There are no viral marketing tactis either.... Where did you pull that one from? And yeah, the game has bugs, but they're getting bashed quite frequently for the size of the team.
Nope, wasnt aware of that. So no Police, fire or places to eat are open on weekends? Hmmmmmm.
Last I checked, a restuarant is quite different than an office-job. Also, since when are game developers payed government employees that save lives?
Then why do bugs from beta still remain?
Pretty poor turn around time, don't you think? You can't honestly tell me with a straight face that you think SV has done a good job fixing bugs, even the most jaded MO posters that come here have no problem admitting that the game has more bugs than a block of swiss has holes - and has since launch.
Let me highlight the part that is important with what I said. Unfortunately, SV isn't a big company. They can't do what the big developer teams backed by big companies can do. If you've ever taken part in game development, and have ever made (or tried) to make a game, you will understand that they are doing something amazing with the resources that they have.
Right now, what they have is worth money to some people, to others it's not. Some people want to spend their money on it, and cannot due to being banned for hacking and/or exploiting (basically the only ways to get banned in the game. You're free to say and do whatever you want as long as it's not exploiting a bug or using a hack).
The problem here is that I (and probably you) know damn well that there are no "laws" against working weekends there. People still pump gas, serve food and save lives. The whole Country does not shut down on Fri after 5PM... SV cannot FORCE people to work overtime on weekends but could easily have staff on hand to reset the server and such WITHOUT breaking a law.
This is more spin fed by the SV propaganda dept .
If it were true (its not) then why would they host a server in a country where you cannot work weekends but thats when your playerbase is at its peak?
There are laws. And yes, AV usually does have someone on staff to reset the server whenever it goes down. It is rare for them not to be able to reset the server as soon as a problem arises. GM Discord is usually around to do it, or someone else.
I know there are laws. I read up on them after they told us they "couldnt work weekends" when the server was down all weekend (it was their excuse)...I found that they were teling half truths. As you just said, Discord (or someone) is now staffed to reset the server on weekends. I did not know they finally were doing this.
The problem is, they were either lying then (when they claimed nobody could work weekends) or are breaking the law now.
-Either way....
For being "rare" it happens quite often.
Most of those who have actually played the game for any length of time will also attest that the game has improved significantly over time - it's nowhere near what it was at launch. While it still has bugs, the game is not nearly as bad as some people try to make it appear.
Downtime has also been reduced dramatically. Such instances are actually very rare.
Hell hath no fury like an MMORPG player scorned.
Haha, this is so funny. I'm sorry, but to the guy still trying to defend this company...you are really making my morning so much better. Thank you for bringing me so much laughter and joy. Bug persist from beta and you say it's because the team is small as if that were even remotely a usable excuse. Haha, so funny! You say they can't work weekends, and actually find that acceptable for a company that developed an MMO knowing that they need 24 hour support for it. That's so hilarious! Now if I were a company knowing the scope of a project that I'm undertaking will need my team to be around on holidays, weekends and times when others are taking vacation..I would find it logical to move my headquarters to a location that didn't put all those restrictions on my team. This truly is a master work of comedy that you've created my friend..lol..I thank you so much for setting aside all logic and reasoning to make me laugh.
Kudos, +1, epic post!
If it is not that bad then why do more people quit the game due to bugs/ui/pve/exploits.no content than people who play/ What I mean is over 20k people bought the box but the subs hover around 2-3k maybe.
Or what I mean is if the game is so good why don't more people play? If the game is good there would be a thriving playerbase and less complaints.
Can you explain to me how me posting that there is a over 3 hour downtime twisted and or wrong??

Not just twisted....But... SEVERLEY TWISTED. lol.
dont you know Pockets that anything that shows MO in a bad light is "twisted and wrong"- Facts be damned. The pop is growing, game working great and Henrick is the bestest CEO ever. In happy land we havnt a care. All is well. Game is better than UO. Go back to sleep.
Why even bother posting about this game at all? I hear nothing but negative comments on how bad the development is, the GM and ingame support staff are.
Corrupted management!
Why would anyone bothers to post anything about this? If the game really is that terrible just let it die! If you love it so much that you must continue playing no matter how bad it is, stop complaining!
OMG that is just too funny. As far as I know there is no country on earth that has outlawed work on weekends, but if in fact Sweden is such a country please link me your source. I mean, just think of your logic here. If it were illegal to work on weekends there would be no shopping, no dining, nothing happening on the weekends. What a horrible sounding place to live.
This claim has absolutely ZERO credibility. ZERO.
So yeah.. to quote you back "Where did you pull that one from?"

Maybe Talwin told him that it is against the law to work on the weekends. I mean he took him at his word about population. SV has been very bad about support during their off hours and there is no excuse for it small team or not. If you can not run an MMORPG because you can not afford to man it 24/7 then don't do it. Last time I checked MMORPGs are supposed to run 24/7
The funny thing is Slapshot, he isnt just "making it up"- SV have really stated that. I remember when I was first playing (a non trial acct) at launch, there was a weekend the server went down on Friday evening and never got fixed. SV literally stated that it was against the law to work weekends in their country. I dug up the actual law and posted it (about sweedish workers rights) on the thread where everyone was mad. They deleted my post.
You know, I've done some Googling on this subject and can't find anything about the Swedish not being allowed to work weekends.
Any links?
not off hand (sorry) but from what I found when I searched before was a strange law regarding forced overtime on a weekend. The way I understood it if I remember correctly was that overtime cou;dnt be forced if it fell on a weekend. It could be worked volentary or forced if if the person was under the overtime (which I believe is les than 40 hours)
It was over a year ago when I found the law and it took a bit of digging but was immediatly deleted off the MOFO when I posted a link.
picklebeast that is the case in alot of european countries.
there are 2 types of mmo, imitators and innovaters.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Workweek_and_weekend#Sweden
Sweden
In Sweden, the standard workweek is Monday through Friday, both for offices and industry workers. The standard workday is eight hours, although it may vary greatly between different fields and businesses. Most office-workers have flexible working hours, and can largely decide themselves on how to divide these over the week. The workweek is regulated by Arbetstidslagen (Work time law) to a maximum of 40 hours per week.[4] The 40-hour-week is however easily bypassed by overtime. The law allows a maximum of 200 hours overtime per year.[5] There is however no overseeing government agency, and the law is often cited as toothless.
Shops are almost always open on Saturdays and often on Sundays, supermarkets and shopping centres, so that employees there have to work. Traditionally, restaurants were closed on Mondays if they were opened during the weekend, but this has in later years largely fallen out of practice. Many museums do however still remain closed on Mondays.
No law against working weekends. Work week is 40 hours, anything after that must be treated as overtime. Employees often have a choice in when they put in their 40 hours, including on weekends if that is their desire.
I did see a claim that 5 weeks of vacation every year are mandatory, but absolutely nothing restricting work on weekends.
