Insiders close to me have stated that Blizzard is going to make the Avatar mmorpg but have to wait for the sequal Movie to be release before any info about the game can surface...

From what i understand Titan (Avatar mmo) will be a Full on Sandbox mmo with migrating mobs like in Ryzom.

Yeah, Riiight. You're just repeating the rumours already posted in articles on various sites and even a thread here the other day.

I will ask it very straight:
Who the fuck needs an Avatar-IP based MMO ???

http://games.ign.com/articles/119/1196331p1.html    This makes perfect sence now avatar will be releasing in 2014 this interview link that I just posted shows that they are making a Avatar MMO straight from Cameron mouth and titan will release in 2014 Im thinking a Avatar MMO for sure.

What are your thoughts on turning Avatar into an MMO video game experience?

I think Avatar is a perfect IP for an MMO. It's a very, very big world and based on the first film, you might not sense that, but we're talking about an entire planet, an entire alter world, and in fact a universe that has other planetary bodies, as well, and other cultures, other life forms. Eventually people will see enough scope to be able to see how the MMO will work, but that's going to have to be launched…the timing of that is going to have to be carefully orchestrated with the release of the second and third film because we don't want to be giving away elements before the fact. And also I think one of the cool things about an MMORPG is that you have to have a lot more possibilities for characters than what you see in the film. The film is really just a leaping off point, so we've got to create a rich and diverse world that lives well beyond the films.

I don't see how that would affect anything. If they announced Titan, would people decide to skip out on SWTOR and just sit around for the next 3-4 years while they wait?

It's actually the total oposite. They rather wait till the hype around SW:TOR and GW2 is settled down and those games being released.

Next year at Blizz:con both SW:TOR and GW2 will have been released and have some good solid months under their belly.

Then Blizzard will start their Marketing engines and will slam Titan into the Public Domain in full force!

    You can bet on that.

I recall Blizzard saying in various interviews that Diablo or Starcraft wont become mmorpgs at least in any near future or as any current projects.

D3, SC Expansion and WoW Expansion to talk about. Why water it all down with Titan?

    /end topic.

  • IllyssiaIllyssia Member UncommonPosts: 1,507

It just means that Titan will be anounced next year. Blizzard have to juggle Diablo3 and a WoW expansion against GW2 release next year. Blizzard really need to deflect the possibility that their Battle.net RPG fans head over to the GW2 camp. It could really happen since it is next gen and lacks a sub and would apeal to rpg gamer crowd.

So....what is the point of going to or reading ANYTHING about this year's Blizzcon?  Seriously, I hope Blizzard starts to choke on it's own success and pathetically long development times on current games and upcoming ones.

LOL.  I dont know if  this is the case or not but with all the previous "wow killers" released in the last 5 years or so I doubt  Blizz is in panic mode.  I think the fans of the next two "wow killers" and Blizz fans are the ones worried.

Really? This game sucks and Im not having fun? Im going to unsub right now. Thanks for the tip.

They already said Titan won't be in competition with Wow, so cool down guys.

Im fine. I really dont have a dog in this fight. I no longer play WOW but I enjoyed the time I played it and in no way pray for a "wow killer". And im not buying into any hype about either of the next two "wow killers."  Been there done that. Im just waiting to see whats what after the the " big 2" launch and then will decide it I want to bother with either one of them.

I wish.  Id actually probably play that.  Even if they charged a monthly fee.  Heck, I could even get my wife on board for that one.  She'd play that in a hot minute and she doesnt even really play games.

I really hope its not based on Avatar (cameron version).  That just sounds kind of lame too me.  Blizzard doing a movie based game?  Really?  Im really hoping thats just a rumor.

As far as them keeping a lid on it, I wish more developers did this.  We've seen countless posts of people who say they're getting really tired of waiting for Swtor.  Well thats because they've been waiting for years, and they know too much about the game.  Now that a release date has finally been given I imagine peoples impatience has been lifted.  Regardless I hope they do keep a lid on it.  Its good PR.

I personally prefer to hear all the details about a game sooner to release than years away.  Kind of like Skyrim.  About a year and a half or so ago I decided to scour the net for details about another Elder Scrolls game and I couldnt find anything.  Absolutely nothing.  Just rumors and barely that.   Then I hear about the game and when I do they already have a release date set.  No real waiting.  Good stuff.

Blizzard pulled it's "A" Team off WoW (thus contributing to it's percieved downfall) to work on ... whatever this is.  It's a bit disconcerting that we don't know what Blizz felt was worthy of neglecting WoW for.

The only thing that really matters right now is can we strip down female chars to full nudity? and do their boobs jiggle?

This added with some intresting emotes could make this game a huge succes!

  • DerWotanDerWotan Member Posts: 1,012

well they haven't finished their rip off plans and dumb down features yet, so they refuse showing the game . Personally I think it will be a walk in the park lobby game played in a scifi universe so Activision can add some ingame-advertising to it...

We need a MMORPG Cataclysm asap, finish the dark age of MMORPGS now!

Look back at all the other IPs they created, and besides a few titles during their early years that were meh.{I think some of them we're just ports or only published by}.  Not a one of their main franchises have sucked, at least to me they've all been excellent...

I'm rather confident in believing Blizzard will create another amazing IP!
