The last time I played WoW was June this year . I'd become an intermitent player for years and although I disliked many aspects of the direction the game had taken in recent years I always found some incentive to come back . However I've been quite happy in Rift for the last few months and although its a game thats not something I would want to play indefinatly its certainly something I would happily return to now and again and of course theres the prospect of StarWars TOR around the corner . Still I always thought I would still come back to WoW as I have before at some point untill I heard about the new expansion . It really does seam like rock bottom to me for this game and for me its the straw that broke the camels back . I will always have fond memorys of WoW I had some great times there but the game I enjoyed really no longer really exists anymore . I think Pandas were the line that Blizzard should never have crossed . Anyway have fun those of you still playing it and enjoying and to those of you who arn't see you in TOR in a few months .

What's wrong with pandas?
Sarcasm is not a crime!
this panda takes offense . racist remark where is my lawyer
I dont play wow but even i think panda are prretty nifty and always liked monks classes in mmo's , i mean what else are they ganna put out there .
They are fat, hairy and they have bags under the eyes.
I guess I just need to time to accept that pandas and humans can be friends too...
I don't care about Pandarens either and would prefer playable Nagas, but I'm not going to stay away from a game just because pandas are in it...I honestly think people that quit or refuse to play WoW just because of that are probably boring and immature, so WoW will be better without you.

So people who dislike a silly theme are immature? Um... what? If anything, it makes them more mature.
Personally I dislike Pandaren because I dont think they fit within the Warcraft lore. Yes they existed in a very small capacity in WC3, but it was mostly as a joke. Even then, I disliked their existence.
But you're perfectly within your rights to like Pandaren, just like myself and others are free to think that it's a poor addition to the game and an obvious play to attempt to appeal to twelve year olds. WoW has long since lost it's grimdarkness, which was the appeal for many people... Just like how they're doing the same thing to Diablo 3, which is probably not a coincidence.
Pandas aren't really much of a deal breaker. They were in WC3 and truthfully its not so bad. I just love how they went "Well you fought through vicious enemies and defeated so many evil foes, now... you get to explore and be happy dory! No new threats, just lolz"
Maybe you should re-read it I had resevations about the way WoW was going . Its more a culmative thing . When you finally give up WoW you'll also find theres a final reason you will leave . It doesn't make a person boring or immature because they finally see something is no longer of interest to them but it does make a person immature to suggest they are . As for WoW better off without me well I'm just one person but if theres large numbers of others now having similar doubts then WoW will not be better off .
Agreed theres always been plenty of tounge in cheek stuff in WoW but its always been on the sidelines and not in the spotlight . This is quite different to anything we've seen in WoW to this point and to me its and indication of where the game is going to go in the coming years and I don't like where its heading . I like Pandas well enough in context but as the central theme of an XPAC after the last three it seams unbelievably weak in it conception .
I quit WoW back in Feb because of several reasons: I became bored of Themeparks and hated the 180 degree they did with Cata, making everything harder and raiding and heroics an intense mind frack which required an organized group on vent or TS to complete some of the heroics.
Rehashing the same content and slapping a new level cap on it and calling it done.
Cataclysm felt contrieved and rushed with very little originality. Plus the dumbing down of the talent trees creating an ever greater sense of cookie cutter talents. Plus to mention I hated having the first tier of gear being blue and having to spend valor or Honor on blue gear.
With that all being said I am kinda looking forward to this new expansion, the new raid finder that makes pugging easy and rewarding. The new talent 2.0 looks promising as well, the only down side is that there is still no form of alternate advancement other then aquiring better loot, which isnt bad in and of itself except it requires you to have to run organized runs and designated times. The greatest detrement to raiding IMO is tha tyou have to be organized and in a guild setting and devote huge amounts of time and often time with little to no rewards. *hate the 7pm on the dot raid formation starts, first pull at 7:30 bullcrap that raiding entails* I want sporadic and non linear PvE advancement that doesnt entail organization but instead rewards impromtu formation. (which is why I am so greatly looking forward to GW2)

This is the first expac I won't be purchasing. I knew Cataclysm was going to be a half ass expansion when I read the early descirpitons. This sounds 100x worse.
I have no problems with them adding pandas as a race, just don't center an expansion around them. How about taking us to the Burning Legions home, giving us ten levels and serious improvements and innovations?
OP; Like I told you in the comments for the main article on this subject (and I have no idea why you feel it's important to annonce to the entire world that you're quitting/have stopped playing/enjoying rift/whatever) that there is nothing different about this addition of Pandas as opposed to much of the other nonsense.
There have always been many stories in WoW, and stuff like Dranei, and Gnomes have at various points taken centre stage. The expansion is not about the Pandas per se. They are just a new option, and lots of the new content takes place on their home continent. the expansion as a whole is about the continued war between the horde and alliance.
But I don't think Pandas are the main issue here. No. Between the way you represent your post, combined with your need to express your dismay for a game you don't play, I think you got personal motives against the game. The problem is not that it's / isn't more childish than it has always been. It's that you somehow thought it was ever dark / took it serious.
It's not the game that is the issue. It's you.
It's a story so common it can be hard to see. You expressed before that you couldn't understand why anyone would find it fun. I suspect it's because they don't take it seriously. they just go with it. They just enjoy it for what it is.
Expansions rarely do that. They usually just add more content that is build on the foundation of what is already established. And when they don't they sometimes screw up a lot of things(UO:T.....)
While I disagree with your sentiments on RIFT (I found it incredibly dull) I do agree with pretty much everything you said about WoW. This will be the first expansion that I don't buy, and my wife, who has found renewed interest in WoW when Cata launched, said the same thing. There's enough new coming out that will keep my attention.
I agree...Pandas...Pokemon...Plus yet another new talent system. All this after Cata...so much fail I have no idea why I have so many friends that still play this game. Clearly I am not their target demo. Enjoy folks that are I guess.
Well kiddies. You play in a theme park and then you whinge about the new ride o.O.
*reaches for a baseball bat*
Racist.
I used to play MMOs like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee.
Sounds like my fella
It took you to Cata to figure that out lol? They have rehashed the same crap for years with the same ol level to max/grind gear garbage.
LOL so fitting and SO true Blythega, an epic response. Its funny its like a vegetarion complaining that their order didnt contain a porterhouse steak with a side of prime rib, and bitch because their vegetarian mel was "too" vegetarian. You reap what you sow kiddies.
Themepark loving players hating on themepark content. Boys and Girls when you all decide to grow up and demand more out of your MMO that includes innovation and player driven content then start asking for epic story driven PvE (or PvP if its your thing) sandbox gaming that will keep and HOLD your attention for a long time.

Mitch.. WIN!

Actually I think its WOW that has become immature and boring but to each their own.
Really? This game sucks and Im not having fun? Im going to unsub right now. Thanks for the tip.
I think it will be a huge hit. Of all the issues I have with Blizzard and WoW, character art has never been one of them.
I think it has grown boring too. Immature though, I don't see how it became more, it has always been an unrealistic non-serious game.
