This is the first expac I won't be purchasing. I knew Cataclysm was going to be a half ass expansion when I read the early descirpitons. This sounds 100x worse.
I have no problems with them ading pandas as a race, just don't center an expansion around them. How about taking us to the Burning Legions home, giving us ten levels andserious improvements and innovations?
Expansions rarely do that. They usually just add more content that is build on the foundation of what is already established. And when they don't they sometimes screw up a lot of things(UO:T.....)
True.
But I now have SW:TOR, GW2 and Diablo 3 to look forward to. WoW can't keep going on the same uninspired formula in my opinion. They have the cash and the talent to take WOW to the next level.
it might be within the lore and all but i find the race to easily compared to kunfu panda. the video i watched didnt help the matter either. after a min describing all the glorious victories in WOW, you just see a line of panda clones training. the whole project looked and felt halfhearted.
I don't care about Pandarens either and would prefer playable Nagas, but I'm not going to stay away from a game just because pandas are in it...I honestly think people that quit or refuse to play WoW just because of that are probably boring and immature, so WoW will be better without you.
Actually I think its WOW that has become immature and boring but to each their own.
I think it has grown boring too. Immature though, I don't see how it became more, it has always been an unrealistic non-serious game.
Agreed 100%
I also think that people are too sensitive about what is mature. Why even care about this? When I choose not watch teletubbies it's not because its not mature. its because its dumb as a sack of crap.
my opinion is that it's mostly immature people who care about mature/immature, and that's the ironic thing about this whole debate. a wise individual would not be so vain to care about this.
if your a 40 year old man who enjoys cartoons and building legos.. go for it. but dont be a little immature man who surpresses what he wants because he is too afraid to stand behind what he really likes. i know lots of people who wouldnt buy awesome family games like lego star wars or something because it would be too embarrasing.
the only embarrasing thing, is them and their lack of self esteme.

Yes Warcraft has always had a humorous slant to it, but the main storylines have always generally been pretty serious and dark.
Since the release of WoW the story has gradually slipped from serious undertones with some jokes and pop culture references on the side, to being more and more immature and just plain silly all around. This latest expansion is taking it to the point where it's infantile.
This is sad. I was hoping for something exciting. I played WC2 and 3 and know of the Pandarans but come on Blizz why did you implement them into WOW. They were a joke originally why put them in the next expansion are you insane? Also come on upgrade the damn models too. This is a game for little children, I am 35 I want to play something serious for once and have some fun, I'm not 12 and I do not like Pokemon (I cannot believe they are implementing vanity pet fights lol). I shake my head at Blizz I have no idea what happened to this company.
To tell you the truth I am not even interested in Diablo 3 anymore, they took away the necro, and the classes look boring, art looks way to much like WOW (glowing armor and weapons no skill tree like diablo 2 ah see ya). Personally I am looking forward to SKyrim, Guild Wars 2 (thanks to blizz they made this game look even better then ever), torchlight 2 (loved the first one, second has lan, online coop and a big world). I will most likely pick up Starcraft 2 Heart of the Swarm for the singleplayer extra online features and of course DOTA but that's it I am done with blizz.
Note: not interested in STar Wars TOR, way too similiar to WOW for my tastes and way to kiddie looking with the character designs. I like the world art and sounds are great though, voiceovers are a nice touch but it's way too similiar to WOW's gameplay. No thanks.

The same can be said for those that want to play WoW because there are going to be Pandas in it now.
It's not just the pandas. Or the fact that they are Kung Fu Pandas, or that the talent trees and game play are going to be dumbed down even further. The straw that broke the camel's back was Pokemon inspired pet battles, on top of all of the above. Even the trailer sends a clear message: "We've done some epic things with WoW, but we are out of Epic, so now we will give you Kung Fu Pandas and Pokemon battles, so you can pass your account on to the kids and find something else to play. Yes, WoW fans, it's time to grow up!"
Mature or immature, im a 31 year old male who does not wish to play with the target demographic of this expac, its no big deal really after 7 years it is indeed time to move on to something new and different, or something new and similiar. (swknotor?)
I'm totally uncool and immature, and I will prove it:
The Pokemon series was awesome.
Pandaren rock and make for a great race.
I play games I find fun regardless of what the cool high schoolers are playing.
I'd rather see a comedy than a horror flick.
Go ahead, make fun at my expense. That's what the cool kids do.
I'm not a big fan of pokémon, nor of pandas, but I actually think it's one of the more awesome races together with Worgen. Now, I've always been a fan of anthropomorphism so that probably plays in a lot. I also like chinese/asian culture, and think the new areas seem sweet (which probably is the main reasin I Might return to WoW).
Regardless, each to their own, and I have to say that my GF - who is probably more mature than me in many ways - love pokémon since it was something she was really into when she were little, so when it comes to that I think it's about When you grew up as well. Comedy rather than a horror flick, is a matter of taste and mood, and I wish Everyone would play what they wanted and not give a flying f about what others are playing.
And frankly, standing up for your opinion regardless if it's not the norm and doing it in a civil way, that's being 'cool' in my book.
I have been a huge fan of Panda race since WC3 and always thought how cool it would be if it was a playable race. We have a cow as a playable race ffs, Panda is a real step up.

I actually don't care much about Pandarens or any new race, though I can say they make for a damn good one and it's about time. I'm more interested in the lesser features, such as the pet battle system and the PvE challenges. The PvP interests me as well, but I am unwilling to force myself through another gear grind, so it just isn't going to happen. :'(
I'll likely borrow a friend's account to try out all the new features rather than buy my own, though the gear grind is the only thing standing in my way. If they were to remove that enormous speed bump, I'd still be subscribed.
What bothers me is how many posters just hop into the crowd of haters to fit in. Out of the thousand or so posts I've read about the topic, most of them have been nothing more than "pandas lol wow sux" garbage with absolutely zero substance. No reasoning, no explanation; they're just pointless posts designed for no other reason than to say, "me too!". People need to form their own opinions; this collective reality stuff just leads to stupidity.

The problem here is that some of those other *people* walked around and thought that WoW was their own personal game of thrones / adult fantasy MMO, which is silly.
People who have played Warcraft since the old games, know how lighthearted this is. If anything Pandas should have been already in burning crusade. they are a superior race to space goats and blood elfs for sure!
I don't hate pandas, I like monk classes, never really got into the whole pokemon craze (was a bit older than their target demo, though I did try it), I played WC3, I played the hell outta D2, been playing WoW for...7...8? years now....including breaks to try out other games, and I have to say....this is kinda sad. All the announcements so far just kinda reek of Blizz scrambling to keep their sub numbers up. Not a bad thing from a business standpoint, they are a business that needs to make the moola after all, and more power to em for that. I was extremely excited for Cata, the changes and directions all sounded terrific to me...kinda like communism looks good on paper, but in practice, it sux donkey spheres of reproduction. And yet...I play on.
I read today about all the WoW news from Blizzcon, new continent (that has been mysteriously unaffected by the cataclysm), the fabled and long sought after pandarins, the only race that can choose it's faction (that part sounds kinda cool, wish they would do that for all the races), the new monk class (don't you dare call it a hero class, it starts at lvl 1 after all....), complete trashing and revamp once again of the talent system (not quite sure wtf they are doin there, I have more reading to do), lvl cap raised to 90 (what happened to the 10 level jumps, I liked those), companion pet battles (wtf?), rehashing of some old school dungeons into heroics (once again), changes the mechanics of many classes (once again), the four spec capable druids finally seperating all four specs(damn op bastages ), many other class changes, new dungeons, dungeon challenges for appearance tab.....I mean uhh Transmorg gear (and braggin rights appearantly), pve scenarios (took a while to jump on that bandwagon Blizz), and many more.
All this sounds cool (kinda)....but so did cata. I am not sold on this yet, and SWTOR and GW2 and Skyrim, and (insert new game here), are all games that i have not been playing for the last decade (give or take), I do not know all the trees by name, nor where every damn nook and cranny of easter eggs happen to be. SWTOR may be "WoW in space", but unlike Azeroth, I do not know the entirety of the galaxy far far away like I do my home town. I have said to friends and guild mates that if SWTOR is half as good as I hope it will be, then Azeroth will be a distant memory. But, and even my friends will admit to doing this, we play MMO's for the social aspects as well, and if all yer friends are playing another game, no matter how old and crappy that game may be, you will most likely play that game as well.... and so most likely...I will play on....damn pandas....
(of course I can also hope that my friends and guild mates see the ship sinking as well and decide to all jump off with me )
Rehashing the same content and slapping a new level cap on it and calling it done.
It took you to Cata to figure that out lol? They have rehashed the same crap for years with the same ol level to max/grind gear garbage.
idk what games he's been playing but thats pretty much what they all do,all these people saying their gonna quit lol plz if you could you would of long ago
