Alll I took from that hard to read OP was "It's a Bioware Game."
Still not convinced that it has anything that will keep my attention past the first few story missions.
Really, after all the info he gave out, that's all you took from it?
Perhaps I under exaggerated a bit. While the OP's overall 'review' of the game was positive, nothing struck me as exciting or 'cool' that would engage my afternoons. While I applaud Bioware on making another well polished game from the sounds of it, I am quite happy to get my fix of story from other titles I am currently playing, such as Uncharted 3 and Skyrim.
Although, it could just be that I am somewhat dissapointed in EA's handling of pre-orders and their early access shenanigans because they decided those of us who live outside the US and UK can not get said early access, all under the guise of not being able to provide the customer support they would think deserving of their customers in our region.
Which can basically translated into: "You live outside our optimal range to have a stable connection to our servers, so we'd rather you didn't slow down or hinder our more valuable customers on launch day. Thanks, but, run along now."
"The problem with quotes from the Internet is that it's almost impossible to validate their authenticity." - Abraham Lincoln
Thats not true. By the way if u dont live in europe or us u can buy the game on pre order from a us store put in your code and play on said server if u want.
They dont region lock this game . They just arent releasing it in your area with servers in your area. But if u wanted to pre orrder it in us or eu and play on those servers u can u just have to put up with latency and lag.
Thatsw a choice u can make if u Want.
Just letting u know u can pre order and play this game outside those 2 areas.
As for the game its a very well made game the story matters alot in it and choices make it seem like the quests and stuff u do matter. Ill say this i found myself totally immersed in this game and playing my character diffrent then ive every played in another mmo.
i actually made decision based on who my character was not based on my opinion of what was more fun. I was suprised my smuggler ended up a good guy. i was even more shocked my jedi was a dark jedil .
i juust made choices that felt right for the guy i was playing. this game has similar mechanics that in wow and others work great. I lvoe the combat as fighting 3 or more people made it feel heroic. its mmo combat so its nto fps combat lets get that straight but combat was fun and enjoyable.
I loved force leaping at my opponents as a jedi knight hidding as a smuggler and hittin them with a grendade from cover , i lvoed blasting my enemies with force lightnign and shocking them and eloctrocuting them.
There is alot to like about this game but if u dont like themepars or bioware games u might not like tor. U might like it anyways but its a themepark game with bioware story so those are big things to keep in mind.
The game is alot of fun though and im really loking forward to playing all 8 classes to max level.
I STILL felt like, in this game, that my story and my struggles and choices were unique and mine and only mine.
Even though I was the chosen one and this special hero, just like every other SI was the choosen one etc.
So you know you're basically constantly lying to yourself, but it still works for you, ok great game.
How is that lying to myself?
*snip*
Well your emotions are telling you you are special, while rationally you know that you're no more special than every single SI that was the chosen one.
If the game can make you feel special, even when you know you're not, then they're doing a good job of sucking you in emotionally. If they can do that for the vast majority of players trying it out, it'll be a huge hit.
Persistent world...24/7 faction vs faction conflict is why I will ,or won't play this game.Right now I haven't gotten enough information on its implementation to make me buy this game. And so I continue to look and listen.

Not sure if this is going to be "enough" information but i will link a section of the illum description and outlaws den

Certain control points engage/deploy walkers that can and need to be take down by special shoulder-mounted rocket launchers, and perhaps other means. It takes a good 10 seconds to fire one of these rockets - Ask A Jedi
The status is persistent, no timers for the game to artificially start or “reset” – it’s always on - Ask A Jedi
Zone can hold hundreds of players - Ask A Jedi
There is a cap on the number of players on Ilum but doubtful it would be hit. - Darth Hater

It’s well-marked so players shouldn’t be surprised if they stroll into the area - AskAJedi
and here is a short video of outlaws den (theres noone in it other then the player but it's a nice run through, just imagine if there were a whole bunch of other people fighting in that area)
Please don't take this the wrong way BadSpock, but I'm a bit apprehensive when an individual gives such a glowing review.
I mean I really can't find anything in your review that was at all negative or disappointing to you. You seemed to enjoy everything you talked about. Come' on man, not one thing was bothered you? Or you thought needed a bit more improvement? If so you need to elaborate on that. After all it benifits everyone when you give pluses and negatives.
Hey if you totally enjoyed the game, well great, but try and be a little more unbias in a review. Just saying is all.
If you took the time to read on.....
People respond to posts as they read them, especially when reading through a thread chronologically.
Expecting folks to "take the time to read on...." before responding is plain unreasonable, especially in a thread that goes for several pages.
Typically, people will include the +'s and -'s in the same post, not provide them afterward several posts later so there's nothing wrong with Sterling posting the response he did after reading the OP.

-Graphics look and feel great - not like BF3 amazing or Skyrim OMG crazy look and feel, but VERY Star Wars, very Bioware, VERY KOTOR especially. Animations are great, add SO much to see the game moving and playing.
This is where i stopped reading its obvious that you never watched or played any SW game or movie coz artstyle and gfx in this game are more like WoW than KOTOR, actually KOTOR is visually completely different than TOR.
Seems to me you are just too big ''fan'' of this game.
I love KOTOR! My first impressions were "it feels like KOTOR," even with your companions.
Not for me, but purely because im taking a break to freshen up before some next gen type GW2/Arch comes out. Now if it as good as you say, and it does seem like comments fit with a consistent picture that is forming, then interesting times for WOW - couple million move over, maybe much much more, then the gold farmers follow, interesting
I can see a draw for WoW players, making a move to SW:TOR.
You can choose to just work on the story quests and warzones to progress. You can just do story and flashpoints. You can just do story and heroic daily quests each day. Hell, you could do just story quests and the daily space missions. I would say through all those you could get some nice variety for leveling.
^ This part sounds just like any other MMO. When I played I noticed that it's nothing special. Just voice overs in the quest and if you're not into watching cut scenes it's really a pain to pass them by spamming your space bar and then you're forced to make decisions on the cut scene you didn't watch!
In the lower levels it's definately a lot of instancing. It's great in the sense that nobody can steal your mob for your quest, but it's also lonely if you're not grouped.
As for the space ship. All you can do is store stuff in it? I would rather see the ability to decorate or something a little more personal then just a closet to put your junk in.
Edit: Also how fun is it to watch out the window of your space ship while you jump. Really?
Please don't take this the wrong way BadSpock, but I'm a bit apprehensive when an individual gives such a glowing review.

I disagree, as this type of thing happens often if a thread is over 3-4 pages at the time it's a good chance that your question would have been asked already or replied to. To add to that I think it was smart of Badspock to do his positives and negatives the way in which he did, he avoided creating a wall of text.
