the combat is the least boring combat of any MMORPG that I have played. It's fast, and tactical at the same time.
LOVING the fact that they don't have auto-attack.
It ought to make PvP more fun and tactical in the same stroke. DCUO weened me off auto-attack games despite my resistance but now, I wouldn't go want future mmos to have auto-attack if I had a choice.
well, IMO an auto-attack would just screw up the timing of the combat. That and for characters who have both ranged and melee abilities, it just doesn't make sense.
I click an ability at the precise moment that I need it to happen. This allows me to perform what are basically combos, almost like a fighting game. I don't like down time, and so I try to never need to heal, or rest. With timing and strategy, I can clear a room taking very little damage.
I sure as Hell don't miss the days of clicking "attack", and firing off a special every few seconds when they light up.
Each build has lasted roughly a month, with about a 2 week span between builds when the servers were down for deployment (pure agony.....I cannot express it). Most closed beta testers were re-invited from build to build.
This is true. Pretty much once you got into a test build, you kept getting reinvited to the subsequent builds.
Not me, my squadron got one invite, that's it. The game has improved a ton since spring '11, having now played in the beta weekends.

Not true. I have been in testing since last year. It all depends on what group you were invited to test.
