Bigpoint selling virtual goods for 1,000 euros a piece. They sold 2,000 of them in 4 days!
So? If they have the money, why should you even care? What business is it of yours? People spend $30,000 on a Rolex watch or a Gucci handbag - should we ban that?
Anyway, what has this got to do with F2P in general? I was expecting a thread saying F2P was a bad thing, yet you QQ about virtual goods instead. Get a life.
A rational species would never allow a few to purchase such ridiculous luxury items while so many starve. But we are not a rational species. Therefore, you are correct. There is no more point to banning virtual silliness than fashion silliness or any other type of silliness. Ban one, ban them all, or just shake your head at the selfish stupidity and and move on.
I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals.

Sell your car and feed a Kenyan.
There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein "Graphics are often supplied by Engines that (some) MMORPG's are built in" - Spuffyre
You have no idea about my cash flow. Whether someone can afford to pay an amount is no point at all.
Role playing games are that... you step into another world, where you are not bounded by the limitations you have in your "pathetic" life. Games make it possible for an Indian-based outcast to roleplay he is the richest in the world. And starting on equal terms he might be able to do that.
Selling this kind of commodities is against the very nature of why there are games. You don't step into a casino with an extra deck of cards because you "can afford it". You play on equal terms.
No and I don't care about your cash flow. Why do you care so much what other people do with their money? It's their money, they can spend it as they wish and it's none of your damn business.
You keep acting like you get to define what games are. You do not. If you want to define a game, fund it and make it yourself. Then you can declare what your game is and what your game is not. Otherwise, it's not your money, it's not your game, stop pretending otherwise.

whys that? because you say so? sorry bud, not good enough, in reality, if anything, a rational species would let the others of its own species that arnt able to survive on there own die, you know, because thats nature.

Why worry about how other people spend their money? Yeah its wasteful, but there's more legit concerns about the world's finances.
I find it morally repulsive to scam addicts of their hard earned cash.
imho.
I find it morally repulsive that people think they can tell anyone what to do with their money.
It is no different than someone charging the price of a house for a loaf of bread to people starving.
did you really just compare a neccesity of life to a virtual videogame item? ffs, get a grip on reality please.

I don't play this game. I posted this because I believe this to be the biggest scam in the F2P model yet.
you know what a scam is right? i take it you dont, since giving people what they want to buy for a price there willing to pay for it isnt a scam, cry more.
Apparently stating the truth in my sig is "trolling" Sig typo fixed thanks to an observant stragen001.
Companies like this are the new dope dealers. I wonder how many of the people spending the 1k on a few bytes did so with a big smile on their face.
This is exactly why "f2p" is no where near free. You need people like this so that the "freeloaders" can play their so-called free game. Intelligent decsions about what one spends their hard earned money on would point to never ever playing (or paying money in) a so-called f2p game. Every MMO that I have played that has gone this marketing gimick route I have dropped...NO EXCEPTION. I am the richer for it.
Pretty crazy stuff. I can understand someone spending a few bucks here and there in an item shop, but 1000 Euros? O_O damn !. But didn't a guy pay like US$200,000 for a space station in Entropia Universe?. Crazy world we live in lol !
entropia is something different that guy ,Jon Jacobs (aka NEVERDIE),did it as a investment he bought a virtual asteroid for $100.000. he made money from taxes and sold his club later for $635.000.
on topic, no it shouldnt. Ive never spend anything on a f2p mmo and most like will never do. If people cant control there spendings, they shouldnt play f2p games in the first place, that my opion about it.

Entropia is a bit different, same as Second Life, where money goes both ways. that dude who paid 200k for a space station is making money out of it, meaning he will be getting back his 200k (plus more) take it as virtual real estate.
second life works the same way, you buy "land" and you rent it out to tennants who do what they want with it, while the owner (if he did it right) gets money in their pockets at the end of each month. i know because i used to do it. i was getting 200$/month basically for doing nothing, granted it doesnt replace my day job, but hey who would refuse free 200$ a month?
as for the gaming items, that go one way, it is also not a problem, but like most people said before me, people are stupid.
i can take a 8.5x11 sheet of lined paper (yeah the one in a school notebook) crumple it up and put it on ebay for 20$ claiming its a rock origami, and i assure you, some idiot will place a bid on it. same thing goes for virtual items, if they put a price tag on it people will buy it.
its the mentality of "i do it because i can" and nothing more.
if you know how to control yourself, you can easely pay less than 15$/month on an FTP MMORPG and have more fun with it than a PTP MMORPG.

It's entirely free if you're willing to play the game that way. It's the people who insist on getting shortcuts or who want more than is offered for free who end up paying. I've never spent a penny in any free game. I played DDO, I've played LOTRO, I've never spent a damn penny on either. Never will either. It's not so-called free, it's entirely free. I just don't expect more than I get for free.
