I have no idea how many people here have changed their minds one way or another, but someone posted a poll on the beta forums yesterday asking if, after playing in beta, they were going to buy the game. As of the time of this post over 3500 people had voted, and nearly 94% voted "Yes", they would be buying it.
While there are a lot of very vocal hater in these forums, who are desperately trying to convince everyone else how bad it is, the vast majority of people who have played the game, like the game and will be buying it. No, it is nothing revolutionary in MMORPG gaming, but it is fun, it is different, and it is Star Wars. And, for a lot of people, that is enough.
It's not that were haters or we trying to convince others not to play. If you want to put yourself through that torture that's your business and I hope you enjoy it. But for me and a lot of others the game is lacking.
1. Doesn't have that drive to make you want to login like all other mmos the past 15 years. Could you really see yourself playing this game for years to come??? If so , more power to you.
2. The character doesn't feel like an mmo char you want to build on. Felt more like a single player RPG with chat functions.
3. The wsad movement was there but whats up with the horrible camera turning. You would think they would have spent more time fixing this.
4. The running and fighting animations are terrible. Heck, have you played lineage 2? That game is 10+ years old and has more fluid combat and movement than SWOTR.
5. Finally I could see if the game was buy once and play free forever like GW2 , but at the current state I don't think it's worth to pay 15 dollars a month for.
If you love the game and can put yourself through that torture than have fun and Good luck with that!!!
You claim to not be a hater trying to convince others not to play, but you say things like "If you want to put yourself through that torture", trying to undermine the game. There is no torture. It is much like most other MMORPG's. It is no more like a single player game than WoW is. You can solo your way through most content, with missions and instances that require a group. And the loot you get in the group content is better than loot you get in regular content. Solo content is pretty much required in any MMORPG game these days. Why is SWTOR supposed to be different?
There is nothing wrong with the animations, and there is nothing at all wrong with the camera turning. Whatever the problem you were having was likely on your end. It is just as smooth as any other game.
And, of course, you had to get in a plug for GW2, which may be the motivation behind it all. Maybe GW2 will be good, but let's wait till it's out, rather than just hype, before we decide that other games should be like it.
The point of my post is that while people, like yourself, try to make it sound as if people who like the game are delusional, and in the minority, the poll in the beta forums suggests the opposite. It now has over 4000 votes, all by people who have played the game. Nearly 94% say they WILL be buying the game. Seriously, if the game was anywhere near as bad as you try to make it out to be, that number would be a whole lot lower. And that is based off of over 4000 votes tied to player accounts, not a couple of hundred.
I honestly don't care if people like it or don't, but there has been so much negative stuff being said that simply isn't true. The game is certainly not perfect, but it has a lot to offer.
