After putting in 100+ hours my game has become pretty unstable with many random CTD's. In the Steam forums there's a big thread with people having the same issue.

Yep, I was expecting a little bit more out of the patch.  But hey, it's Bethesda, they have same damn bugs in almost every game; it's pretty obvious they can't  or don't care about fixing them.  I CTD in Fallout 3 all the time still to this day, well when I play it.  I am also guessing that most of this work for this patch had already been 95% done before the game released, however they had to keep their release date.  I get the feeling that a lot of the people that worked on this game are on a nice vacation at the moment.

I actually have not patched the game yet, not even 1.1.  I still run the game from the .exe....which also means that I have not started Steam in quite a while, because I don't want it to patch.  For some reason or another, my game crashed every 30 minutes with Steam running, however running from the .exe crashes are a lot more rare.

I love this game, I really do.  However after many hours the technical issues are starting to wear on me.  I have a lot of texture problems, purple dragons and armor, missing sections of walls, floor, etc and of course I still CTD every now and then, with no warning and I cannot for the life of me rerpoduce it.

I've played around 200 hours now, and I still go to work every day,  cook dinner for my wife,  keep my workout schedule and I went shopping all last weekend starting thursday night until sunday afternoon.  Just because we spend people spend their time playing games instead of watching TV or rubbing their face on random peoples velvet jackets doesn't mean they have no life.

Hah no shit.  I have got quite a bit of hours into Skyrim and I still work 50 hour a week.  I had five days off total for Thanksgiving so that helped.  But really it's just creative time usage :D...oh and little lack of sleep...

Well. After spending hours scouring the web, I still have not found a fix for my issue. It seems that whenever Skyrim needs to save (entering/exiting zones) or I attempt a manual save, it CTD's. Only started doing this today. That 1.2 patch really...really made the game unplayable, from the looks of it, for a lot of people. I am giving up until either someone can tell me how in the hell to fix it, or Bethsada/Steam fixes it themselves. There is a reason why QA is part of the development process.

I wonder what the cause is ultimately... I've easily put as much time in as that other poster and havent had the game crash or glitch once.  Literally not a single time.

When people are having the issue, of course it is hugely frustrating and seems like a top priority.  Then you check the net and of course it always seems like "EVERYONE!" is having the issue, but annecdotally, i can honestly say that people who *dont* have issues very rarely post.  I know most of my friends who are playing havent had a single crash, but they avoid forums like the plague.  They dont even begin to think about going on a forum.

If 90% of players are fine, even that 10% having issues will look like a TON when they are vocal on the web, but I can understand why Bethesda wouldnt be *rushing* to "fix" it.  At this stage they might still be trying to get their arms around whether or not something is even wrong.

After 20 years in technology as a tech professional I can honestly say that the vast majority of times there *is* a local configuration issue when a user has a problem and 100% of the time they are *sure* there is not.

Not saying thats the case with Skyrim, but I do understand why they need to do a lot of investigation and regression testing before they start putting work effort into a problem that is potentially a ghost.

So far I guess I'm one of the lucky ones as I've had none of the issues some are reporting with this patch. Actually it's improved my game quite a bit. I still randomly CTD every once in a while but no more than before and not enough to be annoying. I have noticed however that now my mouse is just as responsive in all directions as before it was kinda sluggish when looking up or down. Also the UI responsiveness has greatly improved. When I hover over an option or item in the menus or dialog it highlights properly now. I just played for a couple of hours and didn't have the mouse click on the wrong thing once... this was constantly happening before. Overall this patch for me at least fixed some of the most annoying bugs in the game as the UI was really making me die a little inside everytime I opened the tab menu or interacted with a NPC.

Oh and also I haven't had any texture issues like I was having before. When I played for an hour or more before the patch some textures weren't loading properly and I would have to restart the game to fix it. So far this patch seems to have fixed that as well.

I haven't had any serious issues besides the weird keymapping thing, but I have seen many games this year and last have had unacceptable problems with optimisation, CTDs, keymapping, bugs, problems that actually prevent progress, and other atrocious nonsense. I think developers as a rule might be getting more lax with QA.

    WTF? No subscription fee?

A pretty good write up on what Bethesda's patching plan is with Skyrim and when we can expect the Creation Kit as well. Seems they plan on being a little more proactive with this one than they have been in the past. Good news for all of us fans. Oh... and the bit about the PC getting patches first is good news for the PC crowd as well.

Well, i have to say the patch is somewhat disapointing.
Having had no problem but the clunky UI it is now less stable, sometimes keys dont work for whatever reason, right done voice overs have now misplaced with sentences from different questions/answers etc.
I am not happy with this patching!

Still the game is nearly as great as Ultima VII ;)

From what I was reading they broke magic resistance for pc, xbox 360, and PS3.  Now you can damage a flame atronach with fire, before this they were immune.  basically one of the programmers mispelled actor:;:resistance() with actor::resistence().

I made my TESV.exe large address aware using CFF Explorer. That fixed all my CTD problems. Been playing many hours with no crashes anymore. This is on PC.

I think getting Shahvee to marry you is bugged for some, was hoping it would have been included in this patch but from the looks of how much is fixed is this patch we got quite a few more to come.
