Story lines might be different, but I wouldn't bet on the quests being all that unique. From what I've seen, every class has quests that you take from one NPC, that sends you to another NPC, that thinks the first NPC is wrong, and then you have to make a light/darkside choice. It was one of the first things I noticed from watching gameplay vids...the "quest formula". I'm guessing there are other similar scenarios for all classes, and after a while they might seem less unique.

6 months is a long time, and from my very limited experience with beta, if there isn't anything new for my class story, I'll probably be getting my butt kicked in PVP or taking a break from the game.

IN SWTOR in 6 months,  no telling,  chances are I will be on the next game,  and planning a return to SWTOR due to some new content.   There are supposed to be a lot of games right around the corner that I'll likely have the chance to play such as TSW,   Tribes Ascend CB is going on now and within that time frame would likely see a launch,  GW2 would be close to launch at that point I'd imagine,  and Firefall should be released by then too....

    And then theres SP titles...

But IN SWTOR,  if I'm still subbed which is unlikely, (primarily because I've been playing it for about 6 months already) I'd likely be fighting for territory on illum or tatooine,  queueing up when major world battles aren't going on,  and aiding my mates in crafting and selling gear.

most possibly will be palying Guild Wars 2 even though I prefer Sci Fi mmos. Guild wars 2 hasto be seen :)

After playing rift, I found that once I reached max level within 2 months, there was nothing else to keep me tthere as id seen everything. SWTOR is the same type of game and although there is promise because of 17 initial planets to explore, I dont like playing darkside in games so ill only see half the content. Also what put me off afterthe beta, was the fact it only took a few days to do tythos planet, so i worked out if it was thesame for every planet, i could see all planets within 60 odd days. Thats about thre same as rift. With rift too they said they had the mechanism in place to give out bundles of new upgrades, but in the end it turned out Rift hasnt really added much at all. I log back into rift and see my main character there, and nothing feels new so i log out.

If im not grinding alts on SWTOR, ill be in Guild wars two with a friend. .

Just to let you know you can play Empire and make light side choices. In fact, it makes it both interesting and challenging to do so.

In 6 months, assuming that GW2 is out, I will be playing both games. There is a lot more to do in SWTOR than you might realize. Even if you don't decide to play empire you have four unique storylines to play on the republic side.

I plan to really take my time leveling and will hopefully be immersed in multiple aspects of the game.  That being said, I should still be enjoying the initial content 6 months in.

  • GrahorGrahor Member Posts: 828

Them rules were "only for those who are planning to stick to the game in 6 months". Opinions of those who don't I know pretty well, thankyouverymuch.

One question to those people in particular who say "I'll still be on my first alt, playing slowly". But it's not as if you are going to get to some content that people playing faster will not. You'll just be playing less hours a day, taking more time in chatrooms, etc. Don't you feel the pressure due to the fact, that you'll be paying $135 (6 months) compared to those who pay a bit faster/more hours a day - $75 (2 months), for absolutely same game and the content in it?

I understand that for some people the difference is trivial, but, say, for me it's pretty noticeable. I wouldn't be able to justify that expense even if I would like to "take it slow".

Your one assumption is majorly flawed.

We will see major updates in the first few months.

End-game PvE, open world PvP, crafting, alts, and soaking up all the new content additions of the past 6 months is what I am going to be doing 6 months out.

This thread is beyond pointless.  How can anyone predict this?

    Garbage.

I am not interested in opinions of those who don't fall into that category.

There is one assumption I make: no _major_ content update 6 months in.

So, you've played the game for 6 months already. You are logging in. What are you going to do in the game?

P.S. This is not trolling. I am not implying there is nothing to do in SWTOR. I genuinely want to learn people's tastes, nothing more.

I will go the other direction with my crystal ball:

    Ah...

I foresee that Bioware already has 4 unannounced planets almost ready to release into the game and there are others in various dev cycles.

Anything to support it other than "they are already working on it, I just know, and it will be MAJOR"? Of course they'll be adding things after launch - gay romancing, mounts, and likely hats, lots of hats - but that's not....

Ah, whatever. I've recognized you. Perfectly logical one. Logic is strong in you, emotions you are lacking. teehee.:)

I'm not asking anyone to predict anything. I'm asking people, who saw the game, played it in beta, and decided "that's the game for me. That's where I'll spend next 6 months at least".

I don't think it's unreasonable to ask them what influenced their decision and where they see themselves in that game after 6 months.

I don't even know what I'm doing a week from now let alone 6 months from now. I will more then likely take breaks here and there to play other games like Bioshock Infinite and Mass Effect 3 when they are released. Hopefully by then the developers would have already released additional content so I will more then likely be knee deep in operations.

That's why I've _specifically_ pointed out that I'm not asking _you_. My question was very narrowly targeted. Is it too much to ask people to read question before answering?:)

Let's see. Assuming I've leveled my main to max and completed my crafting profs, I'll either be working on my first alt or obsessively running the space mini-game to get better at it.  What? It looks fun to me.

I think this goes for any game that doesn't have major content updates. I'd pretty much be working on amassing some money, doing any mini-games, finish leveling, etc.

I mean, what did we do in LOTRO without major updates? We logged in, had some fun nad logged off when we felt like it.

Lol, it is amazing how many people in this thread DID NOT SEE THIS!^^^

Another words the OP don't give a shit if you will be in GW2 or back in WOW or whatnot! Again a simple question, with simple instructions, that the mass's cannot comprehend!

On point! I know I will be playing this. The game is that good to me. My guess is, i will be playing my first alt. Or raiding/PvP'n my main JC.

Probably buying it and giving it a try.  Really thinking of holding off on playing this title for 3-6 months to let it season a bit before jumping  in.

If only I can stay strong. (probably not)

With mmos like The Secret World, Tera, Guild Wars 2, ArcheAge and Blade & Soul coming 2012/2013, i won't probably play SWTOR for more than 3-5 months.

Still, great game, but i can't ignore an AAA sandbox, it's what i have been asking for 7 years (shame on you western developers).

Considering that its a monthly payment I'm not going to stay online 24/7 just because I spent $15 and want to get the most out of my money. Seriously dude....its $15 a month...if you can't afford $15 a month for a sub then it would probably be better you don't play subscription MMOs and focus on more important things.

Past trends show that around that time I'm probably suckered into being a guild master and having my hands way too full with maintaining a website, recruiting new people and solving guild drama to even enjoy the game V_V

If I can possibly avoid that I'll be pwning players in the non-structured pvp enabled planets :>

I'm going to give the game a chance, but with the experience as I have had it in two beta sessions so far, I seriously doubt I will last past three months.  I'm just not very into MMOs that want to dictate and force feed story and gameplay on their own terms rather than getting out of my way and letting me adventure.  This one is the king of all hand-holders. I also can't imagine wanting to continue paying a monthly sub fee when GW2 will be out with no fee.

A sure sign that you are in an old, dying paradigm/mindset, is when you are scared of new ideas and new technology. Don't feel bad. The world is moving on without you, and you are welcome to yell "Get Off My Lawn!" all you want while it happens. You cannot, however, stop an idea whose time has come.
