GW2: would be optimistic if it weren't for some crucial aspects / lack of aspects I realy dislike (teleporting rather than natural means of transportation / no pvp servers to have pvp in the main game world), Skeptical about Anet's instant gratification and conflict avoidance philosophies.
Having gates in the game is true to GW1, soI am willing to let that slide, though I would have liked mounts as well.. small matter for me though in the big picture, especially looking at what else is being delivered.
But the PvP in the main world thing... The Mists don't appeal to you? Personally I think, as a concept, they are so far ahead of the standard broken open world PvP system that other games employ it makes me smile. Self balancing skill over level/ gear 3 faction PvP against meaningful enemies for meaningful rewards? Yes please...
You don't even have to do the PvE part of the game if you don't want to, no one will mind
Also, 'instant gratification'? Whats this based on? I didn't see much of it in GW tbh...
And.... 'Conflict avoidance'... How are they doing this to your mind? By offering a purely PvE section to the game?
Not really overwhelmed at all, more like anxious and thinking, "about time!". Plus, they are coming out a bit staggered so you have plenty of time to play each game and see if you like it before the next one pops out. Personally, I buy and play just about every MMO there is, I'm a junky when it comes to this genre. Heck, I even redownload F2Ps I thought were crap just to see if they got better or my tastes have changed. So far, I've found only like 3 F2Ps that made me go, "huh, this really isn't a bad game".
I'm looking forward to GW2, the Secret World and ArcheAge mostly in 2012, but I'm also looking forward to F2P Star Trek Online, Tera, Age of Wulin, Diablo 3, WoW's expansion, EQ2s expansion and so on. Gotta say, alot of these games going F2P sure takes a load off my back and wallet as I can just hop in for a quick jaunt when the urge hits me to see what's happening in each virtual reality.
Because most of the MMOs I was looking forward to play in 2012 got prosponed to 2013, then 2014, add another year...
And then there are the MMOs from Korea who are are still in CBT, but like elocke mentioned, the future does look bright for F2P MMOs, and this is usually a good sign for MMOs in general. Changers are a comin', but it takes time, perhaps more than we can bother with but FINAL FANTASY XIV is a perfect example of why prosponing is better than finalizing an unfinished product. Of course, we don't want another Huxley on our hands either, but there's a time and place for everything. Until then, enjoy playing the waiting game.
Played WOW for 7 years and besides wow just fifa here and there, hopefully ill be playing SWTOR for another 7 years can´t wait
Glory to the Empire
I agree. I think Bioware will crank out the content to keep us busy. I have a feeling that they would like to be the new MMO King...which = a win for us.

I'm finding it rather easy to decide.
I'm not interested in GW2, at all, it just doesn't seem very interesting to me and I don't know why but I don't like the photoshop art-style.
I was interested in Tera, but I really don't like that our version is going to be censored or something I read.
I am interested in ArcheAge mostly.
So basically I just have 1 game I like atm lol.

Further explanation required please
I've been fairly undewhelmed by most of the games launched in the last 2 years so I agree with this statement.
6 pages full of speculation which 2012 games will fail
If the games fail at least we can be proud of ourselves, we were the ones who jinxed them!
Beware our black hole of doom and gloom, we will suck you in if you're not careful!
^-^

Keep your eyes on The Secret World and Guild Wars 2, the sandbox genre can't prosper in this day and age, people aren't patient enough.
Both TSW and GW2 are pushing for innovation and freshness, if any games are worth keeping your eyes on it's those two.
I found this great MMO called Skyrim...but the players in the game aren't really that talkative....
