Some peoples tolerance is different then others when it comes to things like this. As one of he reply said, "I play with 3 close friends so it hasnt goton to that point yet", it sorta comes down to if your in the right gaming genre or not if you are feeling this way.
I am so glad I did the beta and got this game out of my system in a weekend. Tried all the classes, found only the agent mildly fun to play, took it to level 30ish and decided it was crap.
This isn't flaming as I love SW and really enjoyed this game at first, but now the game is boring the hell out of me now, I don't know if it's just Nar Shadar but there is no variety in quests. They're all go here and kill this. Tiresome.
That's not my experience. I hope you find something else to play that you enjoy.

This is a big reason I've not bought the game yet. Yes there's your personal story stuff, but the other 80% (?) of the quests are your basic WoW, Rift, EQ2 etc type.
I dont know about any one else, but you cant sit on the sidelines all the time cause something doesnt suit you fully 100%. Besides this isnt some B grade mmo were talking about, Its Biowares Blood, sweat and tears over the past years defieing what no other company can do, tell people to STFU and just play the damn game cause literally defending any game against the rabbid onset of haterz that cant either afford the game or are to lazy to play it give the only reasonable exlaination they can and that is to dismiss the game and take everyone down with them untill something that suits them more comes along there way. Thats how I feel about this.
This game isnt ment to please everyone, its a massive game to help out the mmo genre, there is no need to dumbdown showers of dislike and resentment, its not even a game you need to constantly give your opionion over cause there are 5 million others with just as good of one as yours, its a game that you simply dont play and thats that if you dont like it, no need to bring down the rest.
The excitement is dimished by the fact that the game isnt grounbreaking, unlike when wow came out eveyone thought it was the greatest thing in the world with no bad opinions of it what so ever, so taking on the WoW crowd is doubly hard on SWTOR.

I hear ya - the idea of having to do some of this content again when rolling alts puts a bad taste in my mouth. I think I'll be rolling much less than I thought I would.

Yeah theres really no reason to have 2 of the same faction, storywise.

Little bit tangent there don't you think? I mean the OP was having a feeling about the game and gave an example why.
Im not really quoting the poster, its just my feelings on these constant threads about peoples perspectives on the game. I think the poster is very resonable in his post but I think myn is more reasonable.

Ok the second is not related to this xD
To be fair, SWTOR is really polished and well done for what it is. People either like it or they don't. Some people have their expectations shattered. Others have their expectations exceeded. I think comparing any game to FFIV is sort of unfair. That was in a class of bad all by itself. ;-)
Just like every other game ever made.
Someone else pointed out that people playing new MMOs, get so into it, they play way too much. I played a lot for me (put on like 8 hours yesterday, which for me is a ton of time these days). It happened with WoW. Hell, it happened with EQ1. Its definitely happening with SWTOR.
SWTOR is not for everyone, that's for sure. But I like it, and that, frankly, is good enough for me. ;-)
Every mmo has grind. It's almost impossible to make an mmo without grind. Even a free form skill system sandbox mmo would have grind ala skill grinding.
As for the the quests being monotonous. Hey, at least TOR gives them to you fully VO'd and actually gives you a legit class storyline throughout your journey to 50. No other mmo can claim that.
WoW does NOT have greater replayability. Neither does Rift. I played WoW for a year and a half and my main was an 85 rogue and I never leveled a second character because the thought of grinding an alt up over the course of a month or 2 was intolerable to me. At least in TOR I will have a class storyline to look forward to on an alt.
To all you Gw2 fans I think you are going to be SEVERELY disappointed if you honestly think it's going to be the second coming of mmo's.
Eycel tht's a cool looking laptop, what is it called? Like it has similarities to the Alienware which I plan on getting after graduating highschool, but that one you have could be cheaper yet better specs(hopefully).
Lol and if it's called an eycel that's very ironic ha ha.

ROFLMAO.......talk about a bunch of fools making up excuses for SWTOR. Face it the game blows should of listened to the few of us out here that know what we are talking about and warned you FTARDs.
Well that's uncalled for. Just beacause some people like something you don't, doesn't make them "FTARDs". Sure some people will like it and some will not. How is that any different from any other game?
BW createed what they said they would, so either play it or don't. I'm sure the world will keep going either way.
Im tired of the we want innovation crowd actling like rpg fans cause they arent., The truth is when u want a game to have fps or fighter mechanics in your rpg it ceases to be an rpg,
Don't you think this is a bit hypocritical. THe guy that was quoted by the guy you quoted (the original quotor idk wat this is called lol), well... to put it nicely, acting like a bit of a douche. BUT, saying this is basically the same thing. Acting superior just because you like somethign different.
And no, combat mechanics having nothing to do with a rpg. Skyrim is a rpg. Darkfall is a rpg, mortal online, borderlands, ect ect. Having innovative features doesn't stop the game from being an rpg. And these regurgitated combat/quest mechanics in themeparks have zero effect on the role playing aspects of a game.
You may like tab targeting and run around kill x quest, and that's perfectly fine, everyone likes different things. But lets not get carried away.

Thanks, I'm gonna try and persevere until GW2.
And are you sure that GW2 is not the same? That it mostly has kill quests?
Because from what I've seen, it's all combat.
Perhaps you could tell us (if you haven't already) which mmo you are currently playing that has a variety of quests. Because I can't really think of any of the newer games that have a huge variety of quest types.
Now, in the interest of full disclosure, I too prefer a vareity of quests. I do like combat so it's not really an issue for me. But I haven't really seen many mmo's that have a huge variety of quest types.
The problem with puzzles is that once someone has solved them they post the info and that negates that.
Perhaps you can tell us what current mmo's you are playing and which quests they use that you liked?
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
Just a flaw of the themepart genre tbh, it would take a lot of effort to make each and every quest different and interesting. Player created content is the way forward.
It's also good that I wasn't the only one who thought this when playing in OB.
Nope...you aren't alone. I found this game to be highly disappointing myself. From the class design to the questing to how ridiculous the handholding is in the game. Even combat felt rather lackluster in this game although frankly least in my opinion that has never been a strong suit in any of the BW games. Least to me. Combat gameplay in their games has always felt under par in comparison to a lot of other games. Now story lines, arcs, and depth is where they always seemed to trump the competition to me.
All the more power to those that are enjoying this game, but I'll be real interested to see what the same people's outlook is on this game once the hype dies down and the novelty wears off. It isn't bad by any stretch of the imagination but really overall it isn't anytihng noteworthy either.
1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.
2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.
3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.

Sovrath, the point is that in SWTOR you do infact get told to go kill x and what not but the crazy thing is like mainly in the starter area, you see mobs standing there not actually doing what they are claimed to be doing. That's the BIG difference.
That doesn't mean SWTOR sucks or anything but that's how the questing is, and that's how it is in almost every single MMO out there that's released, I could be missing one, maybe Rift but it wasn't organized.
I might get banned for this. - Rizel Star.

It doesn't matter whether SWToR sucks or not. I'm sure in the eyes of many it does and with good reason.
But the fact is that I don't know many modern mmo's that incorporate other types of quests and many of them. The original post claims that the there is boredeom because there are mostly kill quests.
So is the issue mostly with kill quests or the issue is with how the mobs are are acting?
Because then that is a BIG difference.
