I thought that I would put this thread out, in an attempt to get a better general veiw, then just hearing multiple posts by a few people. The whole one person one vote sort of thing,
Please try not to be overly critical or overly zealous. If there is something that you wish was there, have your score reflect that.
I am going to eliminate scores 0 to 30 as simple playability acheives that score.
If you haven't played SWTOR, please don't screw with the poll.
Out of 0 to 100, what overall score would you give SWTOR.
All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.

Gave it an somewhere between 81 and 85. I'm enjoying it for what it is even though it doesn't fit my personal wants for an MMO. That said, that's my personal view which shouldn't influence any one else's view on the game.
If you let other people's opinions of it influence your own, especially if you haven't played it to at least level 20, then you are apart of the problem, not the solution. That's not to say you have to play something a tortuous amount of hours to not like it. It IS saying that if you want to condemn it publicly in a well informed way, well, you gotta spend time using the software.
"Many nights, my friend... Many nights I've put a blade to your throat while you were sleeping. Glad I never killed you, Steve. You're alright..."

I'd give it about an 81/100. And I feel that is generous but justifiable. It is a great game, not without its flaws, quirks and very annoying bugs, but very solid, and fairly well polished for day one. How long the fun lasts has yet to be seen. Leveling questlines and cool stories are fine, but what happens when we're all lvl 50's fondling lightsabers for fun in the Fleet Station?
Where I'd review separately is Bioware / EA or any mix of the two who are responsible for the following:
Servers. While they are stable, haven't crashed or lagged to what I have seen, they are mis-managed in their population control. While some servers have 3 hour queues, others are LIGHT or STANDARD. Simply locking certain servers, or creating even the shoddy 'World Pass' type system from FF11 (which would allow established players to invite their friends to high pop servers) would have been advised. The current situation, too many idiots who got the game today seemed to roll on these already stressed servers.. Not sure why..
Customer Support (or lack of.) I won't go into detail, I know they are probably swamped, but hell, hire temps, staff a few dozen college kids or something to answer support tickets and phone calls, at least for the first month leading up to and following launch so you don't appear to be shitting on your fledgling customer base.
Those 2 issues alone would get a failing grade. And don't reply to this post about the queue issue with direct hate at me, I've sat in the 3 hour queues, I know.. I also work in IT, manage all kinds of servers on a daily basis, I understand technical limitations, believe me. But when you have a million people all trying to do the same thing at once, you design ways to accomodate the flow properly, you don't just let it all happen. Now, if every single server currently live was full and had queues, I'd have no gripe, but there are far too many that are light or moderate load that new folks should have been funneled to.
Anyhow, off the rant. I still say, good game, hopefully gets better with time. 81/100.
Hey TSW Players http://www.unfair.co/ for Mission guides, Lore Locations and stuff....
I would give it 75 maximum and I disagree strongly with the poster who said his personal opinions should not affect the score. Game reviews are always subjective and should be. It's the reviewer's opinion on the game. Sure, some aspects of a game can be reviewed objectively, but most of them can not.
I must say I'm quite disappointed with SWTOR in general. The IP and the studio had a lot of potential and all the money they needed to make this a game that would rock the MMO world. Instead they chose to create a bland carbon copy MMO, stick some voiceover and seeminly important discussion options on it and cover it with Star Wars IP and a cartoonish graphics style somewhere between a realistic style and Clone Wars style.
Gameplay-wise there is really nothing new in SWTOR. All this has been seen a lot of times, but that's not the real problem. The real problem lies in the fact that SWTOR has very few options for gameplay. It is a single-player adventure on rails that includes some MMO-like features. The economy is based on the generic gear race, which means crafting alone is not really a gameplay option. Character customization is minimal and the character creator is probably the most simplified and bland I've seen in a good while in big-budget MMOs.
All in all, it's a tested and tried formula wrapped in a Star Wars IP. For some, it might be enough. For me, it isn't.
75/100. "Ok, but nothing new. Gets boring quickly."
I voted 61-70. I agree that the votes on meta critic are silly - but it goes both ways. Anything 3 and under is ridiculous, but to me so is it when I see a bunch of 10's.
Its the best MMORPG released in a while as far as I can tell, but its not great. id give it an 80 or so.
People will say Rift is better, but SWTOR does the little things that Rift failed at so miserably, and those little things are really BIG things. My Jedi Guardian has a droid companion, T7. He has a very upbeat personality and is eager to save the world with us as a team, but its a very one sided personality (he IS a droid)
I was doing a quest and came upon a droid that had a very strong dislike for imperials. He was very pleased that I just wiped out some 'Imp scum'. I mentioned to him something about my droid and the response given was along the lines of 'The T7 is improperly equipped to understand the joys of killing imp scum.' Its a very small touch of humor, perfectly executed. And this droid has maybe 5 minutes, if that, of total game time yet he makes enough of an impact for you to have an investment in what happens to him.
As I said to a guildie, the droids in SWTOR have more personality than anything in Rift.
SWTOR has soul. Its not a slam dunk, but it at least puts the RP back in MMORPG a little. And it has quests that actually encourage/require grouping! ANd quite a bit of them.
Yes, SWTOR gives you more roleplaying options than most MMOs - in the single player content.
To me MMO roleplaying is NOT roleplaying with the AI. It's roleplaying with the other players, and that is where SWTOR fails big time. The tools for roleplaying are non-existent and the character customization is sub-par.
But I guess this is what "roleplaying" in MMOs is today. Gone are the times you could totally immerse yourself in the world with other players (UO Europa pre-AoS, I'm talking about you). They will be sorely missed.
why didn't you add the below 30 score?
You do understand that 30 is now 0, so 80 is now around 6 or 5?
{mod edit}
I give it 85-90 it really did impress me there are flaws but I am sure they will fix it and improve on it at some point.
It would get a 7.5 from me, I think the storyline content is superb for some classes but the general MMO content is average, some of it even below par, I'm having loads of fun with my Sith Inquisitor so it's definitely enough to keep me playing and having fun. Early days yet though, not sure how the game is going to pan out in higher levels and also interested to see what Bioware are going to do with their first few updates, please let the UI be amongst the first changes, not going to be happy when I have to load up my third hotbar and my screen real estate gets even more cluttered..
Best MMO released to date. with that being said there really hasnt been a good MMO yet. Most are people settling for something. the game isnt good but there isnt really anything better, know what i mean. its like asking somone who hates apples if they would rather eat the bruised apple or the clean apple. the choice is obvious, they dont really like apples but the clean one is a clean one.
so best of a genre that hasnt really reached high levels yet.
Because i can.
I'm Hopeful For Every Game, Until the Fan Boys Attack My Games. Then the Knives Come Out.
Logic every gamers worst enemy.
Going from my pure enjoyment of the game and experience as a trooper, and its STAR WARS, I'd give it an 8 (disregarding queues, those will work themselves out).
I'd bump that up to a 8.5 - 9 once they do some more bug busting, like the broken resource nodes (and I saw on the patch notes that they suposedly fixed the Taris bug). Also adding a dual spec system would be a bonus too.
If I had to try and be un biased, I would probably go more 7 - 7.5 because of the technial issues that really should have been ironed out in beta, such as people gettng stuck on Taris, people with broken chat (not me thankfully), bad lfg system, lack of guild banks. But I really just love everything about the game so I give it a boost.
I really dont factor in queues in scoring, since its a temporary issue, people rolling on the full servers because they are full. Its a no win situation for bioware, they let people roll on em, people complain about the queue, Bioware locks em, people scream that they cant play with their friends. Which is worse? I dont know, probably the latter in the long run.
The only major problem is how easy the game is. If every solo content was Using mostly silver elite mobs, the challenge leel would be spot on.

Still have some niggling bugs.
I've had 2 queues. Lastnight I experienced ZERO queue during primetime.
Storylines are fun but the quest mechanics suck for groups.. I helped someone run through their ENTIRE dungeon, and I got to the end and was locked out of it entirely. Lame.
Flashpoints are fun and interesting. I don't know how they'll wear over time or if it'll become another run like Deadmines/Van Cleef was post-Vanilla.
I say 91 to 100.
The game had a great launch. I'm not crazy about the staggered release because you can gain a lot of levels in 1 or 2 days and people are spread out in a story type game. So it wasn't a perfect launch to me, but it launched stable, lag free and without a single crash.
The art style is what it is. I've gotten used to it. Some scenes are very beautiful, but certainly not the most beautiful of any mmo. I think they achieved what they were going for though, decent graphics with long draw distance to play on most computers.
It's themepark! Judging it as a themepark (I'm a sandbox guy), I don't see anything wrong. They stick to the formula and while not innovative, it's well done.
Holy voice overs, Batman!!! Not all quests are voiced over there. You can get quests from terminals. But all the npcs are voiced over. It's great and generally the acting is decent. I wish the answers would stick closer to what I actually say though, a minor gripe. Some drawbacks....my wife talking to me so I miss dialogue, my wife playing her music so I miss dialogue, answering the phone so I miss dialogue. But in general it's pretty good.
Collectibles. Orange mod clothing/armor/weapons and mods.
Fast leveling. There's good and bad with this. I'm generally happy though.
I hope the game does well! It has a good base to grow from.
I give it a flat 80/100. It hits all the technical marks while taking the next step in the themepark's evolution launching with tons of content and full VO.
My theme song.
If the game wouldn't play at all, for anybody it would be a 0. I know the game functions at least to an extent that anything less then a 30 is just a person that can't give an honest unbiased score.

Yeah exactly. I don't care how much anyone hates the game...it doesn't deserve < 30%. No way.
Are you team Azeroth, team Tyria, or team Jacob?
I gave it a 61 - 70. its a decent game if you like Themeparks, but i can't see it holding my interest more than a month or two.

51-60
Instead of asking for content in future patches people are asking for stuff that should have been in at release.
I give the game an 7 our of 10. 3 out of 5
My biggest beef with the game is its Art Style / Lack of Chracter Creation / Lack of gameplay Innovations.
Here are some random thoughts.
- This game makes me want to go back to skyrim. badly. I was quite tired of that game until playing TOR.
- While it emulates the setting of KOTOR, it lacks the same blueprint on an essential level. It just doesn't have the magic of that game. The 'story' feels like typical mmo character progression, and sidequests seem limited and generally uninteresting so far.
- While it copies much about WoW, either due to instancing or layout, or some sort of design aspect, it doesn't capture any of that feeling of wonder that came with WoW during it's opening months. Zones in WoW were at least open-feeling, mostly unconstrained, and non-instanced. In TOR everything feels isolated and it is plain difficult to get around without taking a specified route everywhere you go. When I got to the capital city, there was no throng of players waiting for me to join them. Just a couple of npcs with inconsequential tasks for me to do.
Overall, I feel kind of melancholy now. I thought if nothing else that TOR would have done the latter of the two expectations I had for it. I get to be a force wielder, something I've always wanted, and failed at in SWG for the short time I tolerated that piece of garbage, but I have little else to keep me interested.
I gave it 81 to 90.
I'm really enjoying myself and can't wait to log in again but there are things that I don't necessarily like.

Voted 71-80. My score would be 73 or so on that scale.
It's solid, it has a complete foundation, it just needs to grow.

On MY scale? 4/10
On scale that review sites use? 7/10.
So l will be generous 6/10 - Dialogues are nice addition to mmorpg, but VO is not I personally need. I can have dialogues without voice overs personally. Good level of polish, but game itself is very linear and limited in what you can do there. Apart of that it is very generic in mechanics + end game is usual "grind isntances, grind istances for epicz gear". + I can smell cross-server LFG tool incoming. Yes I am not objective and biased.
68/100
The class quests are great (unparalleled by any other game really) but I don't pay a subscription for solo storylines, I pay to have fully featured MMO experience. SWTOR does not provide this, it lacks many basic features and provides the same old tired gameplay that drove me away from WoW and Rift.
Unless you are a huge story/star wars buff there is no reason to invest money and time on this over any other current MMO.
