This thread's OP should be titled "Most pathetic whine of the week"
I get the impression people like you don't actually read the OP.
This is a technology and process question. Not "OMG, the server's are down!". It's "OMG, why are the servers always down so long? What is up with their infrastructure? Is this abnormal? Has anyone ever seen this before?"
I know the announcement for this downtime was given well in advance but I'm curious, was there any in-game warning just prior to the servers going down? I didn't notice one but then again I wasn't really paying much attention to my chat box either. Only thing I recall was coming out of one of my main mission zones and BAMN, servers down. So again, did anyone notice any sort of in-game notice for the servers going down just prior?
Yep 30, 15, 10, 5 , 4 , 3, 2, 1 were the warnings.
Hmm if those really were the only in-game warnings they should probably work on a different/better system considering the amount of voice acting cut scenes. I don't know about everyone else but I don't really stare at my chat window while going through a cut scene. I assume that countdown was in the chat window cause I don't remember seeing it anywhere else.

this, i was pvping and still saw it
its a drag to be awake and not in game, but we had plenty of warning.
hopefully they are fixing the inability to use tumult on players in pvp (inquisitor move that can kick an incapicitated target for upwards of 6k crit with bolster buff)

I've seen servers go down for 1-2 hour fixes yet they stay down for a whole day, another game went down for some changes and never ever came back up, made headlines all over actually (they "accidently" deleted the game). Another thing I've seen is quite a few games go down for fixes; come back up, go back down, come back up, go back down, then come back up in a pre-patch state.
Yes I've seen plenty of it...

Nah, I think we just discovered another case of bad attention span.
Maybe if you guys visited the ACTUAL bioware forums instead of trolling on this one all the time you wouldve seen LAST WEEK that bioware, outlined all their maintences for the entire week in a stickied thread.
This maitenence wasnt a surprise for anyone who actually follows the game.

I won't argue that my attention is divided at times while playing, I have a wife and kids, but that doesn't discount my last question. Did the in-game downtime 30-second announcement come across is in the chat window or flash on screen? And in either of those situations, given the heavy cut scene centered way the game is presented, would someone in the middle of one of these cut scenes notice the announcement otherwise? I'm not complaining, I knew about the downtime, that doesn't take away from the fact that most AAA MMO's have in game annoucements. And yes I know most only use the chat window for that purpose but those games don't have the cut scenes this one does on a regular basis.

I made the reply you quoted because
1. You missed my answer above.
2. You can't notice a different colour text appearing "regularly" in chat.
I see my question/point is totally lost here so I'll concede, I missed the announcement. Not sure if you have noticed but during cut scenes the chat window falls to the "background" unless you drag your cursor over it effectively making an announcement via that system alone useless if the time in which you announced something was less than the time it took to finish said cut scene.

Not sure but this game might be too hard for you!
Maybe try something relaxing like Darkfall. You used to get various notifications popping over half screen throughout all day, every day. i think you would like that.
Its the end of the early access for everyone and now payment information has to be provided before you can play again. I need to update my account as soon as the site comes back up.

Don't know about today but on 19th there was a clear red warning popping mid screen.
I want to play.....having withdraws.
