It bugs me when they have absolutly no connection to the game/item advertised, just a half naked woman plasterd on next to the game title.
I mean if it fit the game, or made sense, or the woman was displayed in a decent manner, or just showed some 'pretty girl' in the game doing game-things... thats fine.
And not a homosexual here, but why is it always women being displayed this way, at this time we are pretty close to a even split of 50/50 of male/female gamers, so why is all the ad's being aimed at sexually deficient males? Are we, as a male population, so damaged that the image of an playboy model is enough to get us to play said game?
I would like to think otherwise, I personaly 'like' decent visuals to look at in a game, but the game has to have much more meat to it to get me to play.
Well if we all know that such games are crap then what's the big deal? Pictures of girls, intended to promote a crappy game does not bother me the least, I just don't sign up for the game. What does bother me is the desire of busibodies to tell others what is acceptable or not. Crap and bad taste is not forbidden, nor should it be.
I used to give MMORPG a pass in my adblocker, but changed my mind after being bombarded with really annoying adds like these.

Agree with OP really, theres no need for it. I actually avoid games that advertise with half naked women because a good game shouldnt need that to be successful. If they are in the context of the game in a video, I don't mind too much. But slapping maxim style models over an advert meh na just looks like something cheap and nasty and will take all your money. Classy girls FTW!
He isn't stating any action except forbidding his children to visit the site which is his right, he could also decide not to visit it himself which would also be his right and the right thing to do in case he wants to display displeasure. Saying that the site needs to change its policy because the ads does not suit his personal values is not the right thing to do.

Pretend to be stupid? The nipples here are for very different reasons, than a mothers nipples for a baby and you know it.
It's obviously not softcore, like OP said, but i think he was just annoyed by all these ugly adds.

I see a woman that has nothing to do with the game standing there in what looks like a tight-fitting, possibly wet, one-piece bathing suit.
The only thing offensive about it is that it's such a gratuitous use of the whole "sex sells" thing which I personally find to be more an insult to my intelligence ("zomg a woman in a bathing suit! Must play!") than anything else. It's an extremely cheesy ad. It's definitely not pornography.
I seriously think you're making way too big a deal about this. If your child "barely pays attention" to women in skimpy bikinis at the beach where they are up and moving around and they can just sit there and stare at them, I don't see how that picture is going to somehow render them absolutely transfixed.
I think your issue is more a projection of your own hang-ups than it is any true issue about how it might affect your child/children.
As has been said there is far worse to be seen on TV, on the net or heck even at your local shopping mall (I've been amazed at some of what I've seen there) than what's in that picture. Short of putting a blind fold on your child so they can't see anything, I doubt you're going to be able to "protect" them from it.
Plus, the more you make it a "no-no" to see such things, the more curious children tend to become to see it.
Of course, it's no one's business but the OP's to decide how they raise their child. It's not my goal here to say otherwise. All I'm saying is.. I think the OP's making a bigger deal out of it than it is.
Are the ads ridiculous and, frankly, sophomoric? Absolutely. Are they offensive? Absolutely not.
But that's just my opinion.

Nudity may be natural but there is a concept called sexualisation. The ads are provocative. I dont care but the OP has a right to complain.

IF it were about the women in teh ads being used to sell the game yes, but when it goes to where he/she/it is blaming the site or ad for them having to teach their childern about somethign early no. The site has a right to place what ever ad they wish, while the people visting have a right to avoid it, and the op has a right to avoid the issue they are having by just blocking the ad or site all together. It is this fact that we are programmed to find anything sexual or revealing as a taboo that is mroe to complain a bout, as if you did not have it hidden it would not be as alluring as it is being a forbidden/hidden fruit of sorts. Maybe the op as well as many of those that do not want this around should take a clue from the amish, and seperate their lives from the mainstream to be able to control what is seen and done in their lives over telling others what is right or wrong.
I agree, if your not happy with internet ads, become amish.

I'm no fan of marketing, but i'll take deceptive or insulting advertising any day over bible-banging censorship. Sheltering children is the parent's business and theirs alone, nobody else should have to suffer when all that needs to be done is to remove the child from a place that they shouldn't even be allowed anywhere near to begin with.
Censorship always starts off with good intentions, but as is evidenced by observing what has happened to television, radio, movies, etc., it never ends up that way.

Oh no nipples! Whatever will kids do if they happen to glance upon one? This acceptance of violence in the west and taboo at the slightest inoffensive body part being barely in view, and is as natural as breathing and eating really makes me question the sanity of people like you. The human body and nudity is natural, acting like its a big deal taboo, and will somehow damage your kids for life is not normal behaviour, but a brainwashed one. Human kids have been around nudity of adults for thousands of years when our ancestors lived as tribes, and still in tribes today. There are cultures within Europe where nudity is a normal thing and their kids are not damaged by it. Shame of nudity is a point of view taught by cults.
Softcore porn? I don't see any porn in that add, not softcore, nothing. If you have issues with that image, I'd suggest you seek help. Labelling it as porn is not doing you any favors.
