I just can't stand being pigeonholed into one class.  It's boring to me.  I like the variety that being able to broadly respec or switch roles provides.

I really disliked the questing in Rift, but the soul system kept me playing just because I loved being able to tweak my class and change the way it played.

I'm not sure how many people agree with me on this, but I just wanted to put it out there.

    Agreed.

I like distinct classes after playing many MMO's that offer sandbox skill or dual spec class system I realised this was not for me and I really hope they do not do it because we have GW2 and the FFXIV-2 to fill that hole.

This doom and gloom thread was brought to you by Chin Up™ the new ultra high caffeine soft drink for gamers who just need that boost of happiness after a long forum session.

I'm with you on this one, I personally do not want to see dual spec added in SWTOR. I like knowing people are playing a 'character' and not a set of statistics. For years we have been running around filling 'roles' instead of playing our characters.  It was a bad tool to impliment back when it was as it practically killed the RPG aspect of the MMORPG genre. And every game it is put into, just like the LFD tool, it does the same there as well.

I'm sorry, but in real life I can't walk up to a Dentist and say 'hey I need a brain surgeon for the next 3 hours, you up for it?'. And when he comes back and says no I say 'why not man? your a medical profession who already works in the head, its only like 2 inches away from the teeth, why can't you?'.

People should be figuring out thier characters back story, giving them morales, playing them based on thier convictions, in a role they feel comfortable playing and living in. They should be playing thier 'character' and be proud of 'who' they are.

You technically could ask a dentist to give you a shot, or draw blood for you.

True, but can't you technically ask him to do that and STILL be just a dentist?
