The reported WoW sales loss is mostly from Asia (where TOR doesn't exist) . Blizzard is pissing their own pants because they don't know what they're doing wrong.
Has nothing to do with SWoWTOR
lol be quiet. You know damn well no mmorpg out on the market right now comes close to TOR storyline voice acting and even the most hardcore WoW fans wants it. There is no rule that says there has to be one successful mmo on the market.
When you hear Blizzard say "we have lost more subs then we have currently" that tells me people are starting to stop playing mmorpgs all together. New blood is not a bad thing. Rift holds Blizzards and Biowares ass to the fire.
Hey Blizzard if Trion can do that APP for free why can't you? Sound familiar with the transfers? Ever since Rift came out Blizzard and WoW has been in a down trend be it because of the F2p movement, new hyped games or Rift it is happening. Blizzard dug their own grave by choosing cash shops over content,
They HAD THE BALLS to blame the players for going through the content too fast and then Ghostcrawler calls players Trolls for asking for content faster then once every 6 months IN A PAY TO PLAY MMO.

RIFT may not have been my personal cup of tea, but Trion is pretty much my favorite MMO developer. These kinds of things are one of the major reasons why.
and
Trion: hardest working team in the mmorpg space. This is how you justify a monthly subscription, by adding real value.
"Never argue with a fool; onlookers may not be able to tell the difference."
Those threads are still alive, but the "FU BLIZZ your game does not come close to TOR" threads are magically not there.
True enough
Still, my point is that people will quit RIFT/WoW/whatever their MMO for the newest best thing. Yes, some will stick with their new choice. But if BW can not provide features available in games like RIFT at the pace that Trion gave them, then there is very little reason for people to stick around. Unless they are SW fans of course which is understandable.
I always go to the Warcraft forums for advice before trying a new game. I am 100% confident they are unbiased.
Want me to link the SWTOR sucks posts from SW official forums?
Anyway, the point I was making is that Blizzard has no need to be afraid. Even before the release of SWTOR, it's been pretty clear from their attitude that Blizz thinks the core of their playerbase is NOT the target audience of SWTOR.

Not sure why this argument is still continuing.
Biggest release of 2011 in the MMO space is TOR no question, but you can't measure an MMO in a week or two or three, MMOs are about longevity ( or supposed to be ).
I have told people That I know since NDA drop that TOR didn't har as many features as rift, and that technically rift was far superior in terms of functionality and features.
I still like TOR better. Rift was mind numbingly boring to me. I loved all the features and convenience stuff, but the game just bored the crap out of me. The leveling was quick, like TOR, but it felt excruciating to me. I hated every second of it.
PvP was sooooo unbalanced. Fracking pyro mages around launch were stupid op. Every nerd they made just create another super op class.
I found everything about Rift stale, even though it was the technically superior game. Also I can't stand the fantasy, elves crap anymore. Star wars is not that far of a detatchmeent from fantasy, but I enjoy the setting much more.
To be honest, if I had to write a professional unbiased review of the two, I would probably go with Rift as the better game overall. Trion is a great developer as well.
However, I couldn't stand it for more than a couple of months, whereas I have been playing TOR for much longer, counting beta.
SWTOR AND BIORWARE DEFENSE FORCE UNITE!!!!!! This bout to get real son.
You have posted this in damn near every thread I've seen lately
Do you have anything useful to ad to the conversation or are you just going to continue to troll and personally attack people for liking the game?
You know how many people have jumped all over me lately around here just for enjoying the game and pointing out my views? So what if I don't agree with your view of the game?
I like this game. I love it. You can't change that. Give up

Yet their stock was downgraded, costing the company untold amounts of cash, with the release of SWTOR given as the main reason. Blizzard IS, and should be, afraid. They've lost over a million subs over the last year, and with each new release they'll lose another chunch... with this release in particular, they'll lose even more, as I think THIS will become the first MMORPG people play, instead of WoW, which is what has been keeping their numbers up for the past several years.
I disagree. Rift is jsut to shallow, small, and way more linear the ToR. I too hate the themepark model, as I much prefer the sandpark style (no thats not a typo I like elements of themeparks but with the more open endedness of a sandbox). Rifts main feature they doeesnt even get the use that their devs mentioned. There is absolutely zero reasons to quest with no sense of a living world. TOR has that sense and I love its quest system so for me its hands down the better game.
Playing: GW2 Waiting on: TESO Next Flop: Planetside 2 Best MMO of all time: Asheron's Call - The first company to recreate AC will be the next greatest MMO.
If you disagree that's perfectly fine, but please explain why you think it is that TOR deserves to be GOTY and what sets it to that level. Perhaps I missed something.
Neither game will get Game of the year, unless you are talking about MMORPG of the year.

I don't really want to change you or no one else but I do like to bring issues, keep looking at my history and have some popcorn and koolaid.
It's weird because I actually think a few steps ahead, it's like I figured one would eventually get tired of it but the sheer though of giving a flip just didn't come to my mind. Though like you said in yellow, my response is that I don't have a dog.
I'll start a Rift Defense Force, W.O.W Defense Force, Guild Wars 2 Defense Force, if you want me too
Also someone claimed I was threatened of the game though not really actually because I actually hope they fix the gamebreakin issue and come some months once I see it and if it adds a little more an fix the PVP, I'll most likely sub too it.
So in purple, I personnally attack people, very odd, I guess this is were I'm reprted or w/e.
Dub, what makes us the same is we are officially apart of some defense, you defend against like every negative post, now prove me wrong and I like to be proven wrong I honestly do, unless I know he/she is lying an trying to prove me wrong, but what is your opinion on this GOTY situation, you seem to be focused on naysayers and others comments more so then the thread, now I'd be hypocritical to say I'm not because I really did just post what your quoted and there are many others like you and I.
You and a few others give in to easily, like just like when I went to be on the Rift defense force just to let people who were trying to belittle Rift's combat and made it seem that SWTOR's combat was near perfect which it isn't. Which is crazy because SWTOR fans should stay humble and then let loose once the combat issue and a few add ons occur.
A lot of you guys are acting same way as a lot of Rift Fans, WoW fans, Aion fans, and so forth have in the past. "Yea but this has a better release than what WoW had and it's much more polished."
And only so far Cthuhul(I hope I spelled your name right) is admitting that he thinks SWTOR shouldn't have been judged like that so early(I'm summarizing it.)
Also the fact that your loving the game Dub, that's great, good for you, I really don't want you to change and or anything you do you and I do me

I found Rift to be highly....unlikeable. I had to force myself to play the game during beta and even after I purchased it. It didn't "grab me" and had that "been there, done that" feeling. SWTOR feels refreshing to me. I feel completely immersed and connected to my character. I can see my self playing it for quite a while. Really enjoying the grouping/social aspects of the game as well. Something I felt was also lacking in Rift.
There are issues with SWTOR. I wish the character creator was more robust, that the UI was more customizable, and a few other minor issues, but nothing game breaking.
I haven't felt this excited about an MMO since I played LOTRO. Love the storylines and the companions adds a very welcome touch. Great game so far and excited to see whats added in the future.
If you want to see where I stand on this issue, I posted it right before I quoted you.
Rift was far more technically competent than TOR. More features, worked better, etc.
I just didn't have fun with rift.
Like I said, if I were to give a totally unbiased choice, I would say Rift wins hands down. There were a lot of things Rift had that this one doesn't that just worked a lot better. Trion is an awesome company. They don't get all philosophical about features like Bioware (macros, mods, class flexibility, UI functionality, lfg tool, cross server pvp, etc) they seem to have been giving their player base exactly what they want in most cases.
Bioware hasnt had time to demonstrate if they will do this or not. They may prove to be better than Trion or worse. We dont know yet, another point in Rifts favor.
When my own personal bias comes into play, however, it's TOR by a mile. I have so much more fun in this game than I did in Rift. It keeps me entertained. Rift just felt stale to me. I had little connection to the game world or my character.
I can't overstate the value of the entertainment I get from TOR. I may be the less robust game, from a technical view, but for my dollar it's the better one.
If I was a journalist, I'd definitely vote rift as GOTY. Since I'm not, TOR is MY GOTY.
Only managed to reach level 14 in Rift before I was bored out of my skull. In SWTOR I've gotten to 34 on my Juggernaut and 31 on my Mercenary and am still not bored. It just seems a lot more fun to play.
anyone knows if my friends pc can handle starwars old republic. he has a pentium 4 hyper threading single core. with 2 gigs of ram and a gtx 550 ti 1 gig. lets say he turned off all running programs and ran only starwars. anyone know if he can run it at full settings?

Now long as Bioware is on their A game and fix what's needed to be fix and subs increase, then I'm sure SWTOR will get the respect it deserves IMO, I mean I'm sure there will be haters but it's either go up or stay flat.
Like honstly if they do though I won't even have issues with people praising the game and saying it beats other MMOs in such and such unless it's justified, I don't care about people saying it's more engaging mainly due to the story, because I agree in that regards.
