i did but just caceed my sub to this game 2 days ago...played it for a week and everythign got boring fast. All the quests were copy and paste, pvp was a joke and well it just felt like we seen all this b 4 in the past mmos that have been released within the last 5 years...was very dissapointed.
There needs to be a forth option: "I only listen to Voiceovers in Basic"
I listen to all the voice over with the exception of droids and aliens that don't speak in basic, for those I "might" read the text (I find the droids texts rather ammusing) but after I do I don't wait for the dialoge to finish and will skip to the next part of the dialoge.
Because flying a Minmatar ship is like going down a flight of stairs on an office chair while firing an Uzi.

I got sucked into the whole "this game reminds me of WoW when it came out" sentiment and instantly subbed so I'm gonna play it out and see whats up at the level cap because I'm cheap like that. But unless they fix some gamebreaking issues (IMO: ability lag, can't pick the WZ you queue, AH in general, another planet to level on for the 10-18ish range, more interesting races, some incentive for being a Neutral character (kotor had this), blah blah blah this has all been said countless times)
If voice acting wasn't this good i would skip it but since V.O is brilliant i listen to all of them. On second round of play with my IA i would skip side story V.O and pay 100% attention to my class story V.O.

Is it just me or is the idea of all the aliens and droids not speaking basic kind of ridicolous?
first off the alien languages are not pleasent to listen to...at all.. (maybe for die hard fans?)
Droids evidently needed there own language that everyone has to learn to understand, even though they could of just added a voice synth to every robot instead of just some.
Every single character and race seems to have a clear understanding and of eachothers languages but arent capabale of speaking it? and dont give me the excuse of vocal cords not capable of making basic sounds cause ive either seen some of the same race speak basic, or they make so much other varieties of language you sure could speak a language you clearly understand.

i guess only thing i can think of is Babelfish
Astromechs don't speak, they beep, this is just how it is in Star Wars, other droids all speak basic.
Alien languages just add a little flavor to the game, maybe 5% of NPCs talk in an alien language, not enough to be an issue for most.
I listen to it all, and is the only game I have given a crap about the story since FFXI. I know alot of haters will say that alot of it is masked go kill 10 rats shit. Well guess what I actually know why I m killing them and find it cool on alot of them why I am.
i personaly listened the first time through (most quests anyways), but the second or third time through i find myself spamming that space bar with a lot of the dialoge.....like 90% of it. not good for replayability value.
The real question is does it MATTER if you listen, and the answer is no, it does not. The quests are the same as in any other game except frankly, less imaginative. They clearly thought that having them voice acted somehow made up for the lack of diversity. The voice acting is a gimmick, and nothing more.

I've always been irked by the signage in the game being in 100% galactic basic. I get why they did it... but for me it really contributes to the bland feeling of zones. Already I think zones suffer from a lack of quantity of unique graphics... but then to not be able to read anything, or really discern one sign from another - it just doesn't work for me.... as a non-Star Wars fanboy.
I listen to the class story and a smattering of other stuff... but most of it I'm just hitting the spacebar and pressing 3 or 2.
Just curious. I don't listen to any of them. At most I'll glance at the subtitles to get the gist of what's going on.
Always do! But I'll admit some of the sidequest ones just annoy me. "Yes, yes, what is your problem? Whatever it is, I'll do it. Need the XP!"
Still, playing with friends makes even the pointless dialogue more interesting. Sometimes different classes will say things you wouldn't expect and it ends up being surprisingly funny.

100% attendance on class story vo
75% attendance on flashpoint & side quest vo
Only space-out when I am in a rush for whatever reason.
edit: or when npc's speak much slower than I can read (or speak alien mumbo jumbo slower than I can read)

Same.
At least I try, but being on voip whenever playing requires me to use and read subtitles often.

Dialogues are bit bland and shallow + only 3 paraphrased dialogue options does not make this better
Of course this is my very subjective personal opinion.
Loved old crpg's dialogues in BG2 , Fallout 2 and Planescape : Torment ,etc
New cinematic like - have voice and animation, but at cost of dialogue complexity, options and "depth" imo ,which is not really that great

First time through the quest, I listen to the voice overs, second time I skip them.
Skipping them won't get you to 50 much faster, maybe by a day or two.

Listened to every single VO on my way to 50.
Leveling an alt, i'm only listening to the class quests, since the rest are all the same again.

If you're not listening at all, it probably just feels like another exp/quest grinder - HINT - you're doing it wrong.
I listen to them all. If I have to not understand something, I'll read the text afterwards.
I listen to them all.

I definitely listen to the class story and most of the side quests on my main. On alts, I tend to spacebar through the side quests.

I listen to EVERYTHING the first time. After that.. the spacebar is mood-dependant. But I HATE some of the aliens...
