SW:ToR players are overwhelmingly displeased with SW:ToR PvP.

...is the conclusion I came to when I read this thread over on the SW:ToR official forums.

http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=142056

Any thoughts?

Looking at the thread it seems to me quite a few of the posts are possative about it too . So its not exactly overwhelmingly displeased . Just a tad sensationalist and inacurate a forum headline given that fact . I've also encounterd a bit of world pvp while I've been playing and I'm not at the endgame yet . Balance always is an issue in any game .

You also have to remember people go onto threads to have a whine so its more likly you ll get negative comment than negative . Those happy with the game are more likly to simply play it and not spend time in threads talking about it .

Thus far I've found combat and pvp to be similar to all mmo pvp not really any better not really any worse .

    I think it sucks  *shrug*

Then again, I think PvP in all MMORPG's sucks.  I fully enjoy my League of Legends PvP (there is no PvE in this game)...

Leave PvP to the games where it belongs.

Yeah SWTORs pvp is perfectly fine

and the sky is purple. Whatever floats your boat.

And telling people, the pvp doesnt have to be good because its a PVE game....is ridiculous.

It is something the Devs promised would be good. Its terrible. You the SWTOR fan deserve better.

Dont cop out and expect less. If its a part of the game, it needs to be great.

Not exactly... for every two positive comments, there are like 6-7 negative ones; and more on some... To me that is overwhelming, my guild has a few 50s, all who hate end game PvP... They say it is almost non-existant on Illum, and the BGs are getting boring.

I read like 9-10 pages and it appeared that it was:  if the player is lvl 40-50ish then they liked pvp and if they were lower then they didn't like it as much.  I think the reasons are obvious as to why.  Endgame pvp is the focal point of this games pvp and anything less than endgame would probably get slaughtered more times than not.  This pvp system model is definitely the worst imo.  Anarchy Online is what i would call an idea pvp system for a mmorpg, pvp lvl ranges so pvp at all levels is needed, not just endgame.  Lvl range pvp for land.  This makes people want to do more than just endgame pvp.

But w/e, i don't play TOR so i really don't care much, have fun.

I like the pvp huttball is more fun than it needs to be but keep in mind I dont realy care about pvp so if its fun im in and its fun.

Again not an accurate statement . I looked through several pages theres nothing like that many negative comments for possative ones . Also as I said earlier people are more likly to be negative in forums than possative . If your enjoying something you just simply play it and enjoy it .

If the game was as bad as some people would have you believe even though we are in the first month you would see masses rage quitting .

But most of the servers are heavy or very heavy loads at peak times . Perhaps that speaks better than a few negative posts in forums .

If anything player numbers seem to be increasing .

Bioware's central focus was never really about PvP, don't know why folks would need to fucking cry about it.

your fairly narrow minded. for most typical mmo's there are two primary features, swtor is no exception, pve and oh, whats that yea you guessed it if your not "slow"doves, pvp. pvp sucks thats 50% of the game down the drain. if you buy a 5 dollar footlong and get a 6 inch yea ppl are gonna be pissed. your name says it all...slow.

Epic pvp was the huge snow battle on Hoth in Empire Strikes Back.  IT WAS NEVER HUTTBALL...I mean what is wrong with developers these days?

You follow this epic quest line for like 15 levels, and then you realize pvp is just variations on American Football and Tag.  This crap needs to end, players need to start caring and be vocal.  Lord of the Rings Online never gave us the Battle For Helm's Deep, World of Warcraft never once made anyone feel like  a real war was going on, not when quests crossed over by level 20 and you could moonwalk on your elf next to an MC Hammer dancing orc, my Age of Conan Barbarian was in a guild with Aquilonian, Cimmerian, and Stygian players, and we fought against...you guessed it, Aquilonian, Cimmerian, and Stygian players lol.

Lazy, lackluster developers who spent all their time in classes learning code instead of hanging out in a few liberal arts classes studying real history, or reading literature that brought the concept of epic to mind in the works of Homer, and Tacitus.

Nothing epic, no one is even attempting to consider it.  On top of all this, in SW:TOR, while a lot of the game is good, they just kill immersion when you see your exact mirror in front of you in every instanced BG.  Boring, vanilla, yawnfest cut and paste.  This crap has to stop.

It's MMORPG PVP, what do you expect?

If you want good PVP, you play pure PVP games (MOBAs, RTSes, FPSes, Fighting, etc)

If someone goes into SWTOR thinking its going to differ from WoW's PvP, then they were clearly didn't do any research.

SWTOR is going to do exactly what WoW did, sadly. They will offer arena play soon. Mark my words. We will never see SWTOR come up with its own ideas about PvP. Open world PvP ain't happening. Its BGs, Wintergrasp and soon it will be arenas.

No game that isn't built on pvp will ever put that kind of effort. Devs don't believe enough people care about pvp. It's sad, the examples you used would've been cool. Good vs evil, sith vs Rep for control of planets, resources, etc. add in a third-criminal/nuetral faction and I bet a lot more people would get into pvp.

Lack of PvP is why I never bought the game after beta. Too bad they didn't invest more time/money, because they have the perfect IP for faction-based world PvP. Ah well, too bad for me.

Enter a whole new realm of challenge and adventure.

Not overwhelmingly displeased at all, but I think we all know it can be improved.

So do the devs, hence the major changes coming soon.

Still enjoy PvP in this game more than in, say, Rift or WoW (non-rated, rated stuff makes that better so we'll see how TOR handles it).

Wintergrasp?  What?  Nothing in here sounds like Wintergrasp, they have never said they'd make it timer-based open world objectives, just objectives.  If they add in silly timers though you'd be right.  Doubt they will though.

The game doesn't have world PVP, they say it does but I never see any of it and Ilum doesn't count, it is just AV battleground from WoW.
