The psychology that seems prevalent on this site in relation to Mortal Online is to drive their failures in and make them feel as if they will never succeed.
Yes, I hope they won't succeed, since it would be a really bad example for the rest of the genre, that you can lie to your customers, cheat them, never release what you have promised and yet succeed.
That pretty brutal from people who alledgedly love the genre.
I don't follow your logic. Only because I like MMOs I should support thieves and liars? I don't think so. Maybe it is because of my love for the genre that I don't want this awful company being a part of it?
Nobodies perfect. Yeah Starvault has high hopes and talks of shooting for the stars, and yeah maybe they have underdelivered, but damn if you all aint some haters.
Imagine if parents talked to children like that.
That gotta be one of the most backwards examples I've stumbled upon. What does disliking company that didn't deliver the promised product you paid for have to do with family relations? I guess the inability to see and admit mistakes does raise some hate among followers.
If your spiteful, dont play, dont contribute, but is there really a reason to flame?
See my first responce.
Im sure there have been a few games that started off flawed and turned out successful and fun, likewise theres been a few that did just the opposite. Keeping with that logic, anything is possible, lets see what they do, critique the product with real criticism and see what they can come up with again.
I am being honest here, I sat and reflected on all the games I've been part of.. MO is the worst. Granted, I didn't participate in the fiasko Dark and Light was, thou..
Likewise, you people from Starvault should listen to the community, although probably not this one, as it seems filled with jaded folks who cant seem to let things go.
Duno, I guess it is part of human nature to try get back at something that screwed you over in one way or another. There are good reasons for some people not letting it go.. oh well, beats me.
My two cents as well. The above are just personal opinions about SV.

It is funny how some people resort to hypocritical statements of them "not caring", after engaging in the argument in the very first place. If you didn't care you would not bother to reply at all, covering your inability to support your claims is just poor style. But hey, I guess you don't give a frick about that either!
i was referring to your bring it up dig it up request. that would take a tiny bit of effort.
Well, that ain´t what he was saying either. That he want´s charity, flowers and saint like support. He, just as I, don´t get how someone can keep this momentum of hate towards a GAMING company. It´s not like SV molested a child, killing innocent people, wage wars on poor countries etc. They´ve made a freaking computer game!!! They had a dream, and still have a dream, to make something uinque. And even though they have failed in the passed etc, they still are learning, and they are getting better at what they are doing. Just as people deserve second chances sometimes, so does a small indie company like SV. But for some here it actually like they did molest a child and killed the childs parents. It´s hate towards has grown out of proportion. SOme here for sure needs to take a chill pill big as a hockey puck and just relax alittle.
You're the one seemingly in need of a chill pill; nobody is comparing SV's conduct to warfare, murder, or child molestation. To even make such comparisons is pretty distasteful.
While I agree that some people foster a long-term commitment to MO that could come off as unhealthy (note that this goes for "haters" and "fanboys" alike), you have to remember that MMO gaming is a nerdy hobby that many people take seriously and commit themselves to with a passion. Games get loved and hated beyond proportion to their actual real-life relevance; it comes with the territory and you just have to deal with it.
So I don't see the issue here. This is a GAMING forum, used for the discussion of GAMES and GAMING. If someone's hatred or love for a particular game strikes you as odd, so be it. But you can't expect other people to abide to your personal moral code (in this case: to cut the "small indie team" some slack and accept being lied to) just because you think their "hate" is unreasonable.
Discuss the actual arguments and facts instead of attacking people's alleged personal reasons for "hating" on MO.

If you didn't get it, those were all metaphores for taking it all to freaking personal. Taking a hobby and turn it to hate ain't showing passion if you ask me. It's not being able to put things into perspective, and see it for what it still actually is. A G A M E . . . Ofc it's up to everyone to keep the hate coming. I won't change that. But I will express my view on their, in my eyes unhealthy, addictive, poop throwing on MO. And I hope SV take the fight like good ol Rocky against all the, that moslty only comes in this form, on this site, from the same few people, over and over, like 3000 times, again...

Obviously your support for MO is unhealthy for you. You're taking discussions about MO or SV personal. There's no way one could fanboi A GAME so hard, unless they were somehow sick in the head. It also seems like you're very addicted of defending people who you don't even know, because they're trying to copy UO and apparently Skyrim to make $$$.
How does that saying go? pot meet kettle?
Also, it really seems there's fewer people here who post with rose-colored glasses than those who do not. Maybe Theia needs to recruit some MO fanatics to join this site!
Or maybe you shouldn't perpetuate flame wars and stick with OPs topic, that is the new Mortal Online Expansion "Awakening" and how epically awesome it's going to be.

Let's get on topic: this patch will be just as awesome as the previous ones. It will contain 10-20% of promised things, that are either bugged or not working properly. That's my guess anyway.
I also think MO will lose even more subs during the time this takes to develop. It's no coincidence that it was announced same time as the extra-ordinary funding meet took place.
They're running very low on money so I guess Henrik needs his dad to throw a few more coins into MO. Financial reports show they've not made profit ever.

I don't follow the corporate scene behind Mortal Online I just follow the game. I could care less about what happens in the board rooms. I care about what happens in the developers cubicles.
What's been happening is that Mortal Online has been around for almost 2 years now and has been steadily getting better and better with each and every patch. The Awakening expansion will be no exception. It will greatly increase the "fun factor" of Mortal while adding more content, better AI, better trade tools, and overall better gaming experiance.
Perhaps you were trolled, or perhaps you are trolling either way the fact remains. Mortal Online is getting better and better with each and every patch. There is no denying Mortal Online January 2012 is MUCH better than Mortal Online June 2009.
The developers have fullfill or are fullfilling everything they have promised. Rome wasn't built in a day, and appearently neither was Tindrem.

Yeah, I can see that. Seeing how you actually think they have 20k subs. It all makes sense now.

One would hope a SUBSCRIPTION BASED game would get better all the time. This is a given fact, it's not something unique to MO.

I agree. MO 2011 is better than MO 2009. They've however charged people like a top dog AAA game for the whole time. Yet their actions have seemed very amateurish for the whole time.

I don't know if you wrote that with a straight face or not, so I choose not list everything I disagree there.
Someone the other day in game came up with the best way to describe MO and its cycle of "best ever fix all updates"...
MO is a used car yard, run by people wearing very loud artificial fibre suits, they sell you a dream, you believe the dream, till about 40 yards from the sales yard you realise the radio doesnt work, only 3 and 4 of thr gears engage and where the spare tyre is, there is only a photocopied picture of one.
To bring MO just to the level of features it is supposed to of had, and the ones it has had actually working as described will take a patch from God the head Dev, no less.
Now that does sound negative, however I still play, because the dream is still better than nearly all sandbox games currantly avaible, apart from EvE but thats apples and oranges as its Sci-Fi spread sheet sandbox, but now you can see why when this guy said the car salesmen compare how 'I' found it very true.
(NOT the highlighted 'I"....so cry me a river if 'YOU' take issue)

What are you saying!?!? Is SV actually trying to make money from their game!?!? Are they copying UO AND especially Skyrim that was released AFTER MO!?!? Who were I kidding here. Thx for waking me up. All along I thought they were doing charity work with their game and some part of me, for a moment, also thought they were being inspired by UO and lately maybe, like what they´ve seen in Skyrim.
It also seems like you're very addicted of defending people who you don't even know, because they're trying to copy UO and apparently Skyrim to make $$$.
But boy did I get snapped out of my dream now thx to you. I owe you one...
I think you missed the pont mate. He wasn't criticising SV for trying to make money...
He was criticising MO for trying to make money from "copying" UO and, ehh, Skyrim...
Taking concepts and features from UO and Skyrim and placing them in a modern 3d MMO is probably the best idea for an MMO I can think of.
Never trust a screenshot or a youtube video without a version stamp!

Yeah, but shame on you for doing and so, and then to even try to make some money from it!!!!!! Jeeeeeeeez.
<snip>
My two cents as well. The above are just personal opinions about SV.
That's some very sad and twisted logic there...
So if by some miracle, MO actually survives long enough to "succeed", i.e. to implement all of the originally planned features and produce a really kick-ass game with no major bugs, dupes or exploits, you wouldn't play it because the company is "tainted" by it's history ?
Blind hatred is just the flipside of being a blind fanboi...
If SV makes good eventually, I'll resub in a heartbeat. I don't give a rats ass about how they get there, the only important thing for me is that they actually GET THERE !

Blind hatred? First of all, hatred is too strong word to use, maybe dislike? As for blind.. the disliking of SV is anything but blind, there are plenty of reasons for that. Neither is my logic twisted, but I would say yours is. You don't care which means were used to get you the end product? That's a nice attitude there. You sound like one of those people who wouldn't think twice when buying a certain product if it's a result of oppression, child labour or slavery (that's an analogy of your attitude, not SV). Who cares as long the result is nice, right?
SV is an insult to development from every angle you look at it. If you want to stick your head into the sand and ignore it, up to you, but don't call other peoples logic for twisted when yours is least as questionable.

Knowing where you come from it´s actually quite funny to read this. Since your beloved Darkfall and their fellow developers AV have lied to it´s community so much that they make Henrik look like a saint. That is when they actually do communicate, wich they barely do anymore, or haven´t done in the past year. So your not going to try DF 2.0 then? Gotcha. I can tell you I probably will if they fix the grind and do a wipe. As I´ve said numerous times.
Some of all the lies that has come from Henrik and SV, are due to circumenstances that were out of their control, like the issues with the engine that set them back a year or so in the begining etc. But yeah, there have been occasions that things didn´t come through as they said, or at the time that they said it. But to keep on judging them for those mistakes, is being short sighted in my eyes. You will say that your the once being sane here etc. But I for one am willing to give both people and companies etc a second chance if they show progress to improving themselves that SV has done as of lately. They still has much to prove to bring back old players, and even more new players. But they are making progress, and while some people look forward, others will stay in the passed. But I guess we just have to settle for that some enjoy what SV has done, and are doing, while others hate them for the same reason, and also apperantly will whatever they do. Haters will hate, or what is it they say?

Sorry, but I've stopped reading there. What do you mean where I come from? If you are refering to Darkfall, you are wrong. I am not an active member of the community, I don't follow the game more than reading occasional news on gaming sites and I've played it couple of days at most, so I've got no opinion on whether AV are better or worse than SV.
You should get your facts straight before making any assumptions.

Lol, easy on the hyperbole there, fella ! You almost sound like Henrik
No, of course I won't support a company that uses illegal or abhorrent methods to attain their "success". But to the best of my knowledge SV have not used slave labour or human sacrfice as yet...
What they have done is everything any struggling business would do to keep the doors open. Whether they are "lying" intentionally, or whether they are just totally inept and actually believe that they can deliver as promised, is up to individual judgement.
Being clueless is not a crime. If they eventually get it right, then all past blunders will be forgiven. Perhaps not by you, but thousands of other gamers certainly will.

You know, it all just adds up to an extremely shitty attitude you get treated with as a customer (former, in my case).
It is also shame to see such amateur trial and error approach to design, disregarding every rule and common sense succeeding. It takes them a year to realize what they were told from very start - you need trade tools, believing in manual trading is delusional.
If one chooses to ignore it, well.. whatever floats your boat. I guess I went overboard in my first reply, sorry.

The confusion is strong in this thread.
The issue is not that SV want to make money. The issue is not that they try to make money by copying concepts from UO and TES.
The issue is that they want to make money by charging AAA price for an inferior product that is nothing like UO or TES. Do you see the difference?
But guess what? And this is the really good part. You actually don´t have to pay for it if you don´t like it!!! They aren´t holding a gun to any subscriber telling them to pay or else... Do you see the difference there?

The difference is that SV doesn't need a gun for credit card fraud.
Also, SV isn't a game, it's a company. Your points are as invalid as always.

i was referring to your bring it up dig it up request. that would take a tiny bit of effort.
Discuss the actual arguments and facts instead of attacking people's alleged personal reasons for "hating" on MO.
not yet, but with the new ai update that is a question i would like answering.
there are 2 types of mmo, imitators and innovaters.

Or maybe you shouldn't perpetuate flame wars and stick with OPs topic, that is the new Mortal Online Expansion "Awakening" and how epically awesome it's going to be.
Never trust a screenshot or a youtube video without a version stamp!
Maybe you should also point this out to Norpan who has not said anything that's on topic here? Perhaps I was trolled, seeing as you are the master of that, maybe you can tell me?
Never trust a screenshot or a youtube video without a version stamp!
Even if all this is pulled off and plays nice. We wont be able to enjoy through being trampled by red hackers.
