Is any one else finding that questing with thier companion makes the game too easy ?

I think this next patch tomorrow fixes the companions from switching their abilities on and off (like Corso's harpoon, god that thing pissed me off).

I thought that aswell but then I went to tatooine. I literally didnt care about my health bar ever when I was questing in Nar Shadaa on heroic quests. Then started doing tatooine ( I am 2 levels above elites ) and when I looked at my bar mid fight it was hovering around 15-20% with Mako ( I try and keep her up to date equipment wise ), we usually play Sith Sorcerer/ BH duo on all the quests and we really had to change our strategy so we didnt start wiping right left and center.

I ended up actually using Gault a lot more and it isnt just about healing I find Mako doesnt heal a lot and does 0 to no damage during the fight so having the sniper helps kill strong/elites quicker when you have a champion or two you are trying to control.

Thinking about it, I'm amazed at how well the game is tuned to the single player portion.

If you stick with the story and side quests, avoid all space and all group content. You are perfectly balanced with the single player story.

Bonus series: I usually leave the planet, start the next planet and get a level or two then head back to finish the bonus series. Feels like less XP gained and mixes things up by revisiting the old zone.

Solo questing is supposed to be easy.  If you're playing with yourself the game is not supposed to difficult.  If you want to make it harder, play a healer spec class with a tank companion.

You'll do very little damage and your companion will be retarded.  Makes for a very difficult gaming experience!  (at least using the robot tank on trooper)

I will agree with you on the "Hard" modes being too easy.  It took us a few tries to figure out the bugs (I guess they call them mechanics) of each boss, but after that point they were a steamroll easy-mode.  I think the only times we ever had trouble on any bosses in any hard modes were the ones with RNG (random number generator) abilities that could kill party members in 1 shot.  Eventually you figure out how to counter the server lag and RNG and even those fights become easy mode.

I would REALLY love if they designed encounters to be difficult based on running you out of resources or requiring the group to do something as a team.

    :SPOILER:

D7 (I think) has one of the most fun hard mode fights in the game.  You fight a central computer boss with lots of things going on all the time and the entire group has to be moving around killing off turrets, robots, and killing power cores.  I wouldn't call it a "hard" fight considering we've 1-shot it every attempt.  But it was extremely fun.  It "felt" hard as a healer because you have to keep moving and everyone is taking damage so you're tossing out heals left and right making sure everyone has as much health as possible (but rarely able to top them off).

Need more fights like that, rather than the above stated... "You didn't move fast enough so you instantly died".  I prefer the "You didn't kill that turret so the party took more damage, and another turret spawned, and another, and eventually you can't keep people alive or kill fast enough so you lose".   Much more fun than "you make 1 mistake and fight is done.

I thought that too. I wonder if we are getting to Tat a little early, I arrived on Tat about 24/25 and the Nar Shaddaa bonus series doesn't start until 28?

No, they want you to come back to Nar Shaddaa,  you'll also get bonus series later on that will have you leaving the planet, then coming back to them later as well.

I think had they placed the two sides in each others paths earlier on in the game I would have seen some use for the companions while leveling but given that doesn't happen they seem to make the game a cake walk if you use then .

On a side note why didn't they introduce random space battles while travelling from one planet to another in a similar sort of way you get in Dragon Age ? It is StarWars for god sake a franchise where a huge amount of the action takes place in space .

I'm enjoying this game for what it is but so much that could have been done and should have been done seems to have been overlooked and it appears to be another mmo which offers easy mode game play while questing .

You are not "forced" to take your companion with you to quest. You CAN dismiss them at any time.

Secondly, what level are you playing at? At low levels, mobs are somewhat easy. Once you pass level 20 and then 30 they get more difficult. I solo when my friends are not on with a different character. I am level 39 at the moment. I an fighting mobs that are 3 to 4 levels below me (35 to 36) and they are a challenge even with my companion.

I did say I dismiss the companion and send him on missions . So no you are not forced at all to play with him . I'm level 22 at the moment .

You are not forced to use equipment either, you can run around naked, but that is beside the point. The point is that the game gives you a certain number of tools and if you use those and the game is too easy then there is something wrong.

What I do to remedy this situation is simply to skip some of the side quest so I am a couple of levels under the quests that I am doing. That way the game is still somewhat challenging even with a companion. And you can also do heroic quests solo if you like to get even some more challenge.

Depends on how far into the game you are.  The first 15-20 levels or so are pretty easy, but by around 30th level and after, if you don't get the hang of interrupts and whatnot, you're gonna get wiped fairly often unless you're over-level.

Random space battles didn't happen because there's a pretty good percentage of RPG players that absolutely want NOTHING to do with twitch.  If you start gating all content by having these random encounters, you'll have a lotta unhappy, UNsubscribers.  Now, I like the space game, but I wouldn't blame those folks for not wanting that... I don't like being forced into groups or PvP, either, and any game that forces me into that stuff to continue the standard content carries a pretty big risk of losing my sub.

TBH I don't find it any more easy than levelling in every other themepark MMO. There really isn't much difference. The challenging MMOs are of the past
