Month 2 and no mass exodus

To be honest I was expecting the trolls to be right because I was'nt paticulary impressed by ToR and have put my sub on hold for a few months before trying it again  .But logging on today I've seen 30 heavy load servers at peak time in the EU and no low ones . The mass exodus hasn't happened in the way many predicted . Well I guess the trolls will now shift the goal posts and say it'll happen in month two or three or six . But facts are facts and Bioware seem to have a solid player base for the moment to build upon .

Is it not a bit early to say for sure either way?

And can we know for sure what "Heavy" means?

In other words, i could say heavy is 10k or 1k, and which would be right? No one knows, so back to the it is too early to say i think:P

most people said the game would decline in months 3-6 not in months 1-3.. much like rift once many people got passed the new MMO smell subscriptions started dropping off at month 3+.. although rift is doing ok just not great..

  • CavodCavod Member Posts: 295

Erm, as much as I hate to side with the tr...um I mean, cynics,  we need to wait a few more months before anything is concrete.

As an aside, it's(community responses) very much like Rift, if you ask me.

We used to have the "It's a WoW-killer" syndrome.  Eventually people started realizing there is no such thing.  This caused a new counter epidemic of "This game will fail!".   All the while games keep moving on, making money, ignoring the naysayers who eventually devolve into the 'protected opinion' argument, refusing to realize that they were wrong all along.  It's similar to the thing that happens to fans who refuse to realize that the game they love isn't that game afterall.

We really need separate forums for every newly launched game. There can be the anti-<MMO> one and there can be the 'what general discussion should be' one. All the lamenting can happen together where each can find solace in like minded can't-move-on-ers leaving the rest of us to actually move forward and discuss meaningful and relevant topics.

I think its a bit premature, my last bit on showed that yesterday at 2pm pac time, all servers were light standard, down significantly from weeks earlier though.

It does not even matter what the population of the server is. Because on any given zone/world you will hardly see 100+ ppl. Why? Because the game creates anoter instance if it sees X number of ppl in a zone.

this too.. really takes away from the MMO feel... yea you get performance issues with tons of people on screen but when I cna walk through nar shaddaa and see only a small handfull of people it's really hurting in making this game feel populated...

  • PainlezzPainlezz Member UncommonPosts: 646

100% wrong... Why?  Age of Conan -> All servers are "Medium" 24/7...  Yeah... Right...

Unless they display actual populate numbers (and you can confirm that information in game) then all you're seeing is a setting they flip on the server to provide players with the opinion that their game isn't dead.

Not saying SWTOR is dead or dying or losing players just that the population number doesn't generally mean shit and can be whatever the developers want it to be.

    I knew it:

Not the success of the game, lots to prove yet. But the lost of contact of this forums with SWTOR community.

The day of patch 1.1 after see the forums war about that debacle and the bad patch, etc.. I login into the game only to found; nothing.

Everyone was playing as always not general comments about it. No people crying, just people playing... I was really surprised but then I realized how far from the truth this forums are.

Right now, saturday 6:30 pm in Europe, only 1 server is on Very Heavy , about 30 on Heavy and about 40 on Standard.

The first week of release (during prime time) it was more like 20 servers on Full (with queues) and all the rest on either Very Heavy or Heavy.

How can you not see a huge difference?

Your perception is just that!  When I log in, which is fairly consistant each night, most if not all the servers are standard or light.   Unfortunately, there are way too many factors to say whether or not there has been a decline in subscriptions and EA/BW is not going to share that with us at the moment.

Although EA stock took a dip recently due to an overreaching on their sales forecast of SWTOR.

    During launch they

    A)Adjusted server loads

    B)Added more servers

However, if I may answer for him, it's not about seeing a huge difference and more about the 'huge difference' you are seeing not mattering to most of us because it was to be expected, just like with every MMO.  Nix that, every new game released.

Yeah that's if they don't ban those playing now for some other god aweful new exploit they found or simply ignore it while everyone racks up points by camping. The fact is that the REAL numbers haven't been released since their most recent problematic crapstorm we'll see.

  • kaliniskalinis Member Posts: 1,428

i disagree with those saying most are light, or standard, i log in usually at 11 pm est or around 3 pm , i hardly log in at peak times and i see heavy , very heavy and standard

when i logged in at 11 am est time yesterday there was one server light there were a bunch of standard and a bunch of heavy and very heavy so i dont know what u are talking about most being light or standard.

more then half the servers when i log in are at heavy or better usually.

I feel like 2-3k Is the high setting for the game. The most populated areas are Warzones, Ilum, Ships, and Fleets. If you go to those youll see there is only 1 instance of the zones, but multiples of the warzones, youll find maybe 500-1000 people in those areas.

thats adding both sides pubs and imps.

The game populaiton per server is low because they got 100 fricken servers. I think that is stupid in the first place. As said it takes away from the mmo feel. As does instancing zones because there are to many people.

They made it so ilum has a pop cap now. Which is stupid. Ruining peoples experiences because others people computers suck.

I love how someone decide to put the "1 Month Card" away and pull out the "2 Month Card." Tucked away if all else fails.

Currently there is no fresh multiplayer game for people to enjoy thats why. When gw 2 releases swtor will burn to the ground just like every other mmo.Except if it ends to be another instance crap.

  • Mari2kMari2k Member UncommonPosts: 367

you should also think of the possebility that they just changed the requirements for status "high" to not cause mass panic.
