np! hopefully well get to see some reviews from you on future MMOs!

Yes I agree!  You have the right voice and inflections when you speak.  You're clear and to the point.   Tell the good and the bad.   Like I said, this is the single best video review I have seen for this game to date.  :)

oh forgot to mention best quote in the review

"no other game I can think of  was designed with such an obvious attitude of HEY WE DON'T GIVE A CRAP"

which is exactly how I feel on so many aspects of this game and especially on the enviornment/npc part where the quote comes from.

I really liked your review OP.  I remember when I first tried SWTOR in one of the weekend betas, I commented on the forums that it felt like a combination between an SPRPG and an MMORPG, but it is overall inferior to its competitors in either of these categories.  And this was basically one of your closing comments, so I couldn't agree more :).

Are you team Azeroth, team Tyria, or team Jacob?

Ok, but the reviewer included not only opinions but quite a few observations that were backed up with in game evidence.  Granted you like the game, no one is saying you shouldn't but can you back up your F grade with what was wrong about it or was it just because he graded the game worse than you though it deserves?

I added an annotation to the video to correct my oversite of the quest button in regards to the interface, with a special thanks to NBlitz and Sovrath. Thanks again!

I enjoy reading/hearing opinions that differ from mine (So long as they present the civily and with actually evidence like the OP). What annoys me is the circlejerk over the opinion that comes afterwards and that somehow he is honest while everyone who liked this game is being paid off.

A good review.  They guy has a nice voice that is easy to understand too.

I wish I could say I like the game more than I do.  Certainly there are some things I do like about it, like the story and voice overs.  But the lack of customization options for character creation and the lack of an appearance tab are big minuses.  The fact that they advertise the gameplay  with hi rez graphics when it's not even in the game is dishonest.  The orange moddable social clothing is all light armor.

This reviewer hit it right on the head when he said EA/Bioware are lazy.  200+ million dollars and we have this unambitious steaming pile of shit.  And I'm not talking about choosing a class based system with linear progression, I'm talking flat out laziness.  They did nothing to impress.  No hi rez graphics.  Music that is....ok sometimes but ambient sounds missing. Three war zones you can't even pick which ones you want to fight in.  Big worlds so graphically intense I suppose that you have to carve them up into zones and instances and can only have a few people on screen at a time, lol.  An mmo with no guild bank, and the guild tab works sometimes, sometimes not.

Since the last patch, the screen blink blink blink blink blink.  Ability lag and abilities not even firing off is worse than ever.  The game now stutters occasionally where it did not before.  Seems like they patch stuff just like SOE and every time they do they break more stuff.

I was hoping to like this game because my old swg guild had reunitied for this game.  But it sucks.  Maybe it will be better in a month or two but these lazy jerkoffs could not hold a candle to real dev teams.  I've seen small indi companies with more ambition, hard work and less money come up with more compelling gameplay.

In short, if it's not too late to cancel I'm going back to Skyrim.  If I want to play an mmo there are free ones now, some of which are better than this game...not that it's about the money.  I firmly believe if you create crap you should not prosper, and that's what they did here.

In referance to the A-tab I think the lazy thing to do would have been to add an apperance Tab.

It seems you don't understand orange mods all to much.

I like the A-Tab it makes me feel unique in all the mmos i play. Also i know you feel its lazy cause i watched your very well thought out review. However i dont see them pulling a ff14 and fixing the issues all your guys will look the same and be clone wars tell the end of this games lifespan.

    Orange mods avoid this.

You can take any plain old gear that you like the looks of and remove the mods from raid gear and play them onto the gear that you like the look of.

Its an A-tab that you have to put some effort into.

This is the video that should be put on the Main Page of this website.

Its an honest and intelligent look at SW:TOR.

But no, we get ridiculous "Pokket" videos on this page's main section.

What makes it any more honest or intelligent then any other SWTOR review?

The only review I ever listen to is my own.

Also what about the plethera of other positive website/personal reviews of this game where they not honest too?

Im not trying to discredit this guys work and I respect that he layed things out the way he did but to say that he is the only honest one is rediculus (Spelling).

Not every opinion, by defintion, is 'true'.

I know thats hard to believe in this age where we we are told that we are special little snowflakes and every opinion is equal, no matter how poorly educated it is or what it's source or agenda is, but there you go.

You kinda dodge my second question.

My personal experiance is that its one of the best MMOs ever create and with a few months of polish coudl easly be one of the best if not the best, assuming GW2,TERA and TSW fall short, and that the negatives of lack of endgame content and endgame polish are ones that come with time. Thus its unfair to grade an MMO this early in its life.

I would hope to see an "honest" follow up in a few months when/if the bugs are fixed.

I don't care about innovation I care about fun.

As soon as they charge money for access it is fair to judge it.

My answer before actually does addres your second question. I obviously recognise the source as valid (independant in this case), it's agenda (to clearly inform), and consider it educated (based on real extended play and not just <10 hours plus an EA press release).

Should be obvious, shouldn't it? Look at the posters in this thread praising him and regarding this the best ever TOR review held, and recall their general stance of the game.

honest review = a review that echoes their own viewpoint and they agree with

dishonest review or shilling = a review that disagrees with their own opinion and doesn't reflect their viewpoint of the game

To a number of people, their viewpoint and taste is superior to others', and if you disagree with it then you're either shilling or a blind fanboi or lying or something. Because to them there is no way you can like and enjoy a game they don't unless you're an idiot or fool, or don't see issues and features as a problem or negatively as they fall over those.

As to the OP, well done review. I disagree with your opinion or impression of several ingame aspects, but then again, if that's how you see and feel about them, then that's how it is to you, and it doesn't negate the fact that you put quite an effort into making the review, well done.

What makes it more honest then this: http://pc.ign.com/articles/121/1214622p1.html?

Bonus points if you caught "But it’s important to keep in mind that The Old Republic doesn’t stray too far from standard MMO mechanics. If the target-attack style of combat and the repetitive quests of other MMOs has thrown you off in the past, then extra consideration needs to be taken."

There is no agenda behind professional reviews and thats where you seem to get confused and assume that any Joe with an overall negative opinion of the game is the prophet of truth while anyone that writes for a company is some lying demon so to speak.

I don't think you should be able to pick and chose what reviews are honest or not, because all of the so called honest reviews according you seem to be supicouly (Spelling) negative. While all the positive ones are agenda filled bags of lies.

With all of this I have half a mind to write my own review and see if you think its honest.
