Yes GW does not do Open Beta or lets just say it anything like the others. I am so glad too of it. Best way to stress test and give people a taste. I do not mind paying for 1-2 major contents a year, they give small content throughout and holiday events as well. There is no doubt all are ready for them. Lets just hope they are close to ready for us. Dev blogs have been nice to read last few weeks.
If players are already consuming all the content in SW:TOR, just imagine how fast they will plow through GW2.
I like that GW2 is more casual, but I do think some fans need to look at things in perspective.
Though they have added some nice features for casual to working players like your friends no longer not being able to play with you ahead of level they back down to your level. I feel this s not our old GW dead a 20 that was the whole reason for new game engine. The public felt they wanted character growth, and they are giving that and more. Time will tell, and yes people will slam it love it etc in the end I feel they are going to give us a good game, and I can see a hugh following in the furture, since I see nothing on the boardsto compete. I am loving this game is coming out of America and will not need to please Asian market, and we get the translated version.

That's true they will try to plow thru it and some will even reach the end right away, accept this time they will need to step back a bit and realize their flaw is their own and not the game. This game is designed to allow for players to do dungeons that matter as far as progression is concerned all the way through end game. There is no gear treadmill in this one, so you can do dungeons for fun to gain experiences or armor/weapon sets that match which really is the only reason to do the dungeons for those players who like to do dungeons only for progressions sake. Forcing the players to want to do the dynamic events which have similar rewards but might not always be in motion once they reach an area as completionists often do while traveling.
The point is, if these players want to rush to the end game let them, they can go back with slower friends into dungeons, they can go back to lower level areas with friends, and rushing to the end because they want the most powerful gear is irrelevent on this game. It's a fantastic design. Cuts out the need to match your gear to everyone else just to do things successfully like heroic dungeons, cuts out the need to reach end game to actually enjoy those things, cuts out the need for friends to be your level to do things with you. Brilliant.
Some caution or realism for those who eagerly think that this means GW2 will release before Summer: when GW had its first open beta weekends (Fall 2004), it wasn't until 8 months later that the game released. I don't expect that the time between first open beta and release to be that long for GW2. However, the announced mass scale beta for March and April is still not the open beta as we have seen them the past years for MMO's.
Considering that after April, based on their findings the real open beta tests will be held some time afterwards, and that due to various reasons usually there's a 2 month at least between open beta of an MMO and release, any release before July seems very unlikely and unrealistic, especially seeing how ANet has taken their time to do things right and not rush stuff.
No AAA MMO has released in July-Aug, so September seems the likeliest release date for GW2.
I expect TSW and TERA to be released first, namely in April/May.

GW2 will be a great game, no doubt, but I still see a million threads in the future of, I m max now what. It s ineviatable with any MMO nowadays.
You get that problem when u design games with raiding-centered gear-grinding endgame...
you allways need more & new to be able to keep playing with some challenge...
Guild Wars 2 has a diferent design...
Dinamic content and sidekick system will keep ALL zones always challeging no matter what level are you.
I think this has less to do with design and more to do with that (a lot of) people will get bored regardless in the end, when they've in their eyes consumed most content for their character.
NcSoft Korea has put in for injuntion to stop 05/12 Launch of Tera. As to when and how GW2 will launch. As they have always said we will launch when the game is ready. Though I can not wait for the game to come. I am really glad for the we will launch when it is ready. They took this on as soon as they found what we wanted for the game could not be had in GW1. I thought dang quiet now wait we will all be beating you down before you are ready and it has been the case. Add to it, games released have just not been what we wanted. I was hoping to play Tera, knowing the old L2 group had brought it online. But I can not see USA courts not stopping BH from coming to live status. We will see, if they can I will go play it until GW2 is here.
Possible, but considering how NCsoft had its head handed to it, when it tangled with Richard Garret (Lord British), its obvious that they do not understand the difference between the US legal system, and the Korean system. In Korea, the deck is stacked in favor of Korean companies. NCsoft is too used to this, and it impacts their cases in other countries.
As for GW2, I suspect we will see full release in the fall (or perhaps Nov/Dec). It would be nice if we see it this summer, but I'm really doubtful about that.

Comparing SWTOR content to GW2 content is like comparing aplles and organges. GW2 is majorly PvP focused wich that alone will be leaps and bounds ahead of SWTOR content wise since many people PVP at end game and is one of top reasons people are quitting SWTOR. PvP is a major elements that ANet takes very seriously which I can't say the same for BW.
Plus I think in GW2 you really have incentive to play a different race. SWTOR are all human reskins while GW2 has actual different race modes just like WoW which is real race choices.
In the end I think people will be content with GW2 as it has a variety of options. Dungeons for those that want a challenge, DE, Exploration, crafting (too early to tell if it'll be a good system or not), some major PvP options. And if all that is not enough that one can simplely take a break and play a different game for a bit n come back. ANet has stated that they intend for their game to be a pickup and drop kind of game while P2P try to keep you playing their game all the time. The burden is a lot less in GW2. PErfect game if you like to play several games. For me it'll be GW2, DDO, and Neverwinter along with possibly MechWarrior Online.
With regards to consuming content, what that plays out as is burn through content that is simply an xp grind to get to the end before they fall behind too far in the gear race. Now the rush gives you access to a few instances a bit sooner, but you gain no advantage over the player base, and so finally rushing through content becomes unattractive. No peer pressure to race, time to explore and enjoy the journey through the world and story.
