Endgame content, lack of pvp, LACK OF TRACKING SYSTEM FOR PVP KILLS, PVP CODEX PERIOD, IS THE MAIN REASON.
Im having a harder and harder time loging in. Theres just so little to do. Yeah yeah the story is good. But that only gets you so far.
You're expecting a one-month old MMO to have as many *user-demanded* features as a seven-year-old one.
Imagine, for a moment, that you had reached the top level on Vanilla WoW in one month just when it launched. What would you be saying about what that game was like back then ?
There was *one* raid, doable once weekly. No hard modes. No daily quests. PvP was catastrophically unbalanced.
No matter how carefully-designed, it takes time to for games to mature. The Devs need time to learn what the community is demanding, then decide if that's in the game's best interest.

Story in ANY game is only good for 1 go around. 1 playthrough. Thats it.
MMO's shouldnt be focused on individual stories. It should be focused on creating a mythology/general overarcing story. The player character then creates their own personal story by being a part of that world.
SWTOR's focus on all this individual storylines and V/O's which take up huge amounts of resources and time will bury this game.
If I would have liked the stories, I'd disagree with you in some part. But I didn't like them that much. Plus, I found I couldn't create my own story. Their 'three-choice' system with 'light and dark' rewards made it impossible for me to write my own story.
I'm looking at Archeage right now... http://www.archeage.com/en It looks interesting... I mean beyond it's a very pretty game... Far better looking than SWTOR. It looks, if they can do it, like I will have more freedom in that game than virtually any other MMO ever written.
I think people need to come to the realization that SW:TOR has a beginning (lvl 1) and an end (lvl 50). The game does not seem to be designed to keep playing at level 50 but rather the two choices you have is either reroll or quit.
More over the game is not a PvP centered game and will always get a backseat to PvE.
I don't think either of those are opinions but rather facts and if people accept those facts they would be less dissapointed. That does not mean I agree with those two aspects of the game (I don't) but it is what it is.
The first part I can not agree with. As a Themepark game, it has more "end game" options at release than almost every game to come out since WoW, heck, even including WoW. Rerolling and quitting are of course option, but by no means the only two options as you stated.
lol. Get out of your basement and try a few other MMOs then...
And for God's sake, stop dragging WoW 2004 into it. WoW aand EQ2 were the FIRST third-generation MMOs. They not only polished the genre, they created the modern features in the MMO genre. Before them, games were far, far more primitive and lacked virtually everything we take for granted in today's MMOs...
Features, I might add, were in non-WoW games released years ago... LOTRO was a better product on release, back in early 2007, than SWTOR is today...
In the initial release you had three major raids in the Great Barrow, you had three raids in Gareth Argwen (the red maid raids), you had raids in the North Downs, you had raids in Helgorad... You could easily start raiding at level 20 and raid your way all the way to the end game.
PLUS these raids scaled. You could run them all at Level 45 if that floated your boat...
And the best part, you have to have a stratagy with a LOTRO raid. There is no 'I've got uber gear, let's go kick the butt of this RAID on hardmode...' Tier II raidiing is HARD. It requires 12 people working as a team, each executing their roles perfectly... And Tier II 'Challenge Mode." Wow, it really is a challenge. You need 12-people, who perfectly execute a 30-minute-to-one-hour boss fight AND have maxxed characters AND maxxed gear.
So don't act like 'poor SWTOR' and 'BioWare' is doing its best. Turbine did a heck of a lot better with far less money and resources. Especially after the bath they took on DDO. If they had $250 million, they might have made the greatest MMO release in history... Instead of this third-rate piece of fully-vioced junk...

Players are upset that Bioware just hyped their product so much for it to be this lackluster. Some people have had interest in SWTOR for years. So of course they have some invested emotion into their opinion when discussing dislikes.

The only point made here is that you can perform repetitive tasks and the other 2 people can not. That is what MMO's are becoming anyways. I believe it is correct when they said and MMO is for the characters to create the story and not for the story to be force fed to the players.

At no point did I say that SWTOR has been in development for a month.
It has been *live* for a month.
Developers cannot put in the features that the playerbase wants until they hear from the playerbase.
They have been hearing from the soon-to-be playerbase for years. They had official forums up from summer 2008 and they had thousands of beta testers. That they ignored what players asked for and went their own way is a completely different thing.
SWTOR however has a lot going for it. it's the small things in general that make it fun
Ya the small things like sitting in chairs, swimming, day/night cycles...
OH WAIT
^^^^^ Any modern MMO where I can't sit in a damn chair.... *sigh* Sad to think how we've actually devolved over the years in terms of genre progression. Games that made their way out to public consuption nearly 10 years ago, were more feature rich and complete than what we're seeing as 'new and shiny' today. It's kind of a shame. But as I've said before in countless other posts. WE ARE TO BLAME. We buy this shyte. So they keep making it.
Hey TSW Players http://www.unfair.co/ for Mission guides, Lore Locations and stuff....
BTW, I will say this. I just resubbed to RIFT, and that game has undergone a boat load of changes, just outstanding ones.
Starting to play that while weeping and talking to myself. Sobbing uncontrollably.....Rocking back and forth moaning , SWTOR OH SWTOR....
I feel the same way about TOR and did the same thing: tried Rift and I'm having a blast. Being an ex WoW player of ~6 years, Rift feels right at home and doesn't seem to be missing any of the features that I've come to expect and like in an MMO. I hope TOR finds it place and perhaps in due time it will be the game that I think a lot of people right now feel it's not, but I'm still shocked at how an MMO in the state that TOR is in could have been released in such a competitive market and with so much development time & investment. Alas, I digress, but I feel like comparing it to manufacturing a brand new car without the most basic of features, like a radio for example.
I'm currently playing SWTOR, and I'll be the first to admit the game is not without its faults.
But you're honestly complaining about not being able to sit in every chair you come across? This is really your gripe with the game out of all the other things that could be improved with the game? If that isn't haters hating for the sake of hate I dont know what is.
Im a hardcore SWTOR/BIO 'fanboi', mk? Have an official forum account created on Oct 08, etc blah blah blah.

Throughout development, communication from BW said how important PvP was and that they have a team directly devoted to PvP, even boasting "You haven't seen PvP until you have seen this".
PvP was advertised as one of the major selling points and was shown off at many conferences.
They have several sets of PvP gear and allow you to level up through PvP only.
I'll say it again. YOU had overblown expectations because you did not do the intelligent thing and actaully do some real research. The information was out there, you did not seek it out, so the problem is your fault and blaming anyone else for not having the knowledge you easily could have is just plain weak.
Of course the people at BioWare felt they had a good PvP game and talked about it. Would you really expect them to intentionally design a game they felt was bad and then tell people they did so? So they designed what they felt would be a fun PvP game and you disagree now. The onus was on YOU to do the research and find out if the PvP game was what you wanted. You did not do so even with months of beta leaks, a month of the NDA being lifted, AND the Beta Weekends.
We really are doomed if developers listen to people like this guy. I foresee never playing a decent mmo ever again because if it's bad it will always be my fault.
He wasn't saying it was the players fault for the game being bad. He was saying it was the players fault for becoming emotionally compromised by it (sad/angry). Very important distinction.

Where did BW ever say PvP would be crap?
Isnt' there a difference between a pvp game and one that has pvp? Last I looked they never said there was a focus on pvp. YEs, they did say they had a team for it but of course they would. How can you implement something without a team for it.
If you can find a quote where they indicate that the thrust of the game is a pvp game I'll happily recant. But I never saw anything from them where they indicate that SWToR was a pvp game.

Iv'e never hyped a game. I can easily list all the things I like and dislike about any game. But I challenge you to find any post where I hype a game to high heaven. The thing is, I don't feel the need to list the things I hate in order to then make a point about the things I like. Unless someone is asking for pros and cons.
And that's exactly my point, the developers talked of battlegrounds and some sort of pvp planet and that pvp was important to them. But that does not make the game a pvp game. It means that they want to, in the scope of their game, make a decent pvp system. Doesn't mean that system is going to appeal to anyone.

exactly.
It was clear form the start that SWToR was a theme park game and would have a theme park pvp system. Now, that's not a judgement on that type of system just a statement of fact.
Theme Park pvp systems are not going to of interest to a lot of hardcore pvp fans. What i think is that pvp players see info on pvp and they fill on the blanks with their own wants/desires and then they get dissapointed.

Look at sports athletes or just the fans. Imagine how many Patriots fans cried for days after my Giants smacked em around again in the Superbowl.. Anger has no attachment.. It is nothing but raw emotion
PM before you report at least or you could just block.
Moral of the story Developers and fonboys shouldent hype games to high heaven? Might be something you should think about... And I have seen lots of videos were they talk about their BGs.. and theampark elements.. wasent hard for me to understand the game wasent for me. The PvP that these people are whining about is not what I personal call PVP. But for me personaly its funny that BIOWARE even missed their target audiance with this one...
Dont know how many threads Iv read on the offical forums about " OMG NO LFG button" OMG IMBALANCE of CLASSES" OMG BUTTON DELAY" "OMG NO CROSS SERVER PVP" OMG OMG OMG.. all crying for fetures I personaly THINK HAVE LITTLE TO NOTHING TO DO WITH A REAL MMO GAME.....
Its funny just how spoiled and unskilled all you theampark players are.. for someone whatching from the outside. True Hardcore player who loves games were you get deleveld, Lose all your shit when you die, you personaly sound like a bunch of crybababies..
From the wrods of BAS RUTTEN.. what are you a baby playing baby games...

You are most correct in this.. and my post was genarly directed at the people who say they are PVPers and then go and BUY a theampark game...and cry about it...
If it walks like a duck, sounds like a duck, smells like a duck, it's probably a duck.
