I just noticed a recent surge of GW2 hate over the forums, and I guess I just don't understand where this is all coming from.
You don't have to understand it, you just have to listen to all opinions, filter out the ones that don't hold truth for you, and let people get on with saying what they feel the need to say.
Don't sweat it.
Trying to understand and double guess the motivations of people you know, let alone anonymous strangers on a forum, is the path to going a bit nuts
The worst thing you can fall in to though is calling everyone who is critical of the game a 'hater'... thats such a juvenile spew of a word that just attempt to dismiss and demean others without considering who they are or where they are coming from. People can like a game and still be critical of elements of it
Peace Love Flowers... BAM!!!! twin 9's the the brain pan...
yeah, sorry to talk about reasonable non extreme non drama whoring reactions to others posts... not sure what I was thinking.
I need to get with the program and completly polarise every other poster into 'fanboi' and 'hater' and make dramatic posts about shooting people in the head.

MW3 is a game, and its multiplayer that snags millions of "brogamers" are still real players in both an industry sense and from a gaming cultural perspective.
I dunno, mate.

Well if those who played the game are right about how fighting as a team has a way to develope on its own to the point where people tend to go where they see others already fighting. That shouldnt be an issue.
I see guilds being set up based on their function now that you can be part of more than one guild. You will probably see social guilds, pvp guilds, and ad hoc military guilds (to respond only to dynamic events). So the potential is only limited by the people who play, not the game itself.

Cool, I've followed zero info on the guilds system for GW2, did not know about the above^.
Just take the debacle over the Euro Crisis and the inevitable Greek default for a RL eg of how to set up a "%^*€£" system that allows eg the Greeks to borrow billions and not show it on their national budget, the Germans to power ahead due to single-currency & the Italiens to go back to eating horse-meat etc, and a whole load of technocrats -> national governments -> democratic voters to mess up the social, judicial and economic systems in various countries without a single fiscal governing system and allowing some countries in when they were not fit for purpose! The devil is in the details...

Hate? What hate? All I see is love, love for the game, love for arenanet and love for the community. If anyone talks like they hate the game, they only do that because they are too afraid to say they love it. *Runs off into the rainbow sunset*
@OP, I havent noticed anything out of the ordinary on these boards. Dont look too much into it, especially if it's hate posts since they basically almost every time are waste of forum space and waste of time to read. There's a fat line between a critic and a hater, and haters outnumber critics by far, just ignore them if you can and take only the critics seriously. I know its hard sometimes, well, often, but one can try :P

I think you just lived up to your name lol
; ) if the story is no good, tell a tangental one!
Ah probably because GW2 fanbois like to crap on everyone else's game you think that will not come back on GW2?
Its hardly a contest when agaisnt SWTOR fanboy.
I can't beat 4 generations of nerds that have proven they can eat any kind of garbadge fed to them since pre-quels
GW2 fanbois are on every game's case. It is not a contest but GW2'ers are some of the most vocal.
criticise and comment on games and not people please?
Throwing insults around about large groups of other users is just a way to start a fight.
what do you expect? while they burn in anguish over what people said about their game(mainly SWTOR) they are more horrified by two things. 1. the "bashers" were right all along and 2. they themselves want GW2. the only logical thing to do is pick a fight, make the gw2 fans feel what they felt. of course this won't work except on exceptionally sensitive people as the gw2 fans however mean they were, do like a better game so the sting is not there. most of the things that the "bashers" say are made up in the first place, then you have rampant speculation spun in a bad way, with the little negative at this point being stuff that is not like it is in WoW. even when all the flaws of this game are laid bare, it will be better than the WoW-alike that most of these guys are coming from.
let them pick their fight, it's the only outlet they have. just look at distopia and praetalus. i'm very surprised pony didn't turn into this, but he must have a healthy life outside of the forums.
It's because of people like me. I thought TOR was gona be the next MMO I spent years playing and now fed up. 2 mill box sales and only 1.7 mill subs. That leaves about 300'000 people looking for a new MMO home. The hype on the TOR forums about GW2 seems to be a constant reply of GW2 solved that problem every time people give feedback on how to fix TOR. So now they are dismayed and come to check out what GW2 is about and then find themselves saying WHAT NO RAIDS?!?! WHAT NO TEIR GEAR?!?! MT NO WAY!!!
I will be trying GW2 and from all I have read over the past 3-4 days makes me really wana try it but I have to say I already HATE the crafting system. I hate click intensive crafting and for me thats HUGE as I MMO for 3 reasons.
1. play with friends
2. awesome pvp
3. crafting
As the saying goes, two out of three aint bad! But I did express my hate for GW2 crafting and will keep doing so in hopes I find fans that feel the same way and to hope to make AN take another look at their system. I think AN can do a much better job with crafting then they have presented us.
I dont plan on playing Guild Wars because I didnt enjoy the first one. Nor do I believe it will revolutionize MMOs. If you consider pointing out that all of these "innovations" arent new to the genre, then whatever, im a hater
Ah probably because GW2 fanbois like to crap on everyone else's game you think that will not come back on GW2?
Let me see if I get this straight. You talk shit to fans of GW2 because some of them talked trash about YOUR favorite game? LOL! Hilarious...in a 12 year old child kind of way.

I tend to be critical of any game I'm interested in, just the way I am. Don't confuse it with hate though, I'm still looking forward to GW2.
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.

As already stated, there is a difference between someone blatantly hating and someone being critical.
I have seen a few examples were someone simply being critical about some feature in the game gets called out as a hater by the GW2 fanboys.
The most popular callout would be he/she is a "troll". Troll this, troll that, that term has really lost it's meaning.

This is what I'm wondering. Is the OP thinking any criticism is hate?

In short?
ToR is out and has settled, or so it seems into it's market. Now the "HATERS" have moved on.
Many people are growing weary of hating on TOR and are looking to hate on The Next Big Thing (tm). This happens to be Guild Wars 2.
Don't hate the game, hate the people. That's why hate on GW2.
Let me see if I get this straight. You talk shit to fans of GW2 because some of them talked trash about YOUR favorite game? LOL! Hilarious...in a 12 year old child kind of way.

Sounds like regular fanboy mentality to me.
