I am also playing the game and there is no way this game deserves a 9.0. Sorry, but it doesn't.
That isn't to say I hate it or think it deserves an incredibly low score either. All these high scores show me is that these mags and sites are still reviewing mmorpgs way too quickly and still after all the ones they have misjudged still lack any objectivity at all.
1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.
2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.
3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.

Lets be honest...most review them from 4 hours of play, a press release, and a phone call from the secret marketing department.
Giving it a 9/10 they are pretty much saying the game is near perfect. Not even the biggest fanboi could possibley think that. The only conculsion i can make of a score that high is that it was a paid for review.
so i read the review.. it literally screams... i played a smuggler to level 10.
there is no way he played a consular to level 50 and actually believes what he wrote.. i somewhat enjoyed my guardian to level 50.. but i moreso think it was the race to 50 within my guild aspect i enjoyed about leveling him, i didnt find the story very immersive, compelling or even made to make me feel like i was the only one in the world who could stop the emperor...
These reviews HAVE to be bought. If MMORPG.com is willing to fire a reviewer for giving this game the score it deserves... I can't see anyone giving this game a 9 with all the issues it has. Meanwhile, this website gives Ultima Online a 7... At least UO is an MMO. SWTOR... I don't know what it is... a Diablo game with a monthly fee? Judged as a singleplayer game, it deserves a 7 (the quests are padded, the combat is bad, nothing you do impacts the game world). Judged as an MMO it deserves a 6 (almost no multiplayer elements to speak of, broken PvP, little to no things to do at level cap).
I love the Hi Rez screenshots in that online article.
Must be nice to be able to use those when you cant get that level of detail in game. Marketing FTW.
Scores like this is why I dont even bother with scores or supposed Reviews. Actually when DA2 was scored as RPG of the decade I quit even looking at reviews, once I quit laughing at that statement that is...

to be honest.. it sounds like he slapped his name on a bioware rep's explanantion of features and innovation that swtor provides... infact i'm pretty sure i heard all this during E3 last year... this isnt even a review... he's basically written an article based of swtors featureset... added in some "wide spread complaints" as cons and thrown in some high rez pictures that the game isnt even capable of "in game" slapped a 9 on it and collected a pay cheque

can you tell me what inovation swtor have? everything I saw during the game it was a copy of something already done, and most part the others did better then swtor.
so yeah most of reviews are bought or too much byased for anyone to belive, game faqs work a little better because even though its biased too for fanboy and haters, reading the fan boy and hater reviews, can give you aa idea what you would find and then see if worth your time and money.
metatric with some people loves I never really look at it
I think it depends on the level you get in the MMO. If its new MMO and its starwars, its gonna get 9/10 from level 1-15. But once you get past those levels to the 30s, then to end game. You notice. The game is no longer a 9/10 game. Best review is experience.
Can you really trust a review from them? They're likely not going to be playing for the long haul and they probably only spent a week or two on the game and assume that the fun will last for a long time before they stop playing and move on to another game. I'd rather trust the reviews of the real people who actually play the game as I would play it. Not some guy that gets paid to play a game for a few hours.

But.. the game doesn't even slightly resemble MMOs. The entire thing is designed around NPC companions and instancing. Hell, even the Star Wars thing got ruined, it feels nothing like Kotor, it feels like the Original Trilogy with a slight tweak on all the names.

Ridiculous assessment, I'm currently playing the title, no way is it a 9.x.... thinking a solid 7.7 or so atm.

I would guess they're a bunch of Star Wars fanboys.
I'm somewhat enjoying the game myself, but there's far too much wrong with it to warrant a 9. Still, opinions are opinions I guess.
sounds more like paid to saay it..no game out atm deserves that score.
Another over inflated review.

Not even skyrim deserved a 9...

FYI, every magazine should have a website by now. Oh look EGM does have one, and oh look ~ here is EGM's SW:TOR Review
Who pays for magazines anymore? Anyway...I give SW:TOR a 3/10...
I agree with your score, it in now way warrants a 9 and I am a fanboy.
