Why is it well done that someone posts nonsense that if people don't agree with them they are not rational? Sounds pretty illogical to me.
There are OBJECTIVE reasons why this game is bad
As in reasons that are not just opinion.
The bugs, for instance. Or the factions inbalance. Or the fact that there are too many servers and people are waiting upwards of an hour in queue while others are finding it impossible to find a group.
You may be able to tollerate those things, but you can not argue them.
No there are not. What is objective to you might not be same for others. it is like telling people they are 'dumb' because they like Justin bieber and Michael bay movies. Surprise surprise..some people can actually overlook problems like bugs and faction imbalances and still enjoy the game. Must be irrational folks.
/roll eyes
You don't have a clue what's the difference between subjective and objective. Do you?
And you don't know what is difference of prespective do you? some people are able to look beyond bugs and other issues and enjoy the game..while others would complain just about anything say 'loading screens in GW2'. What is objectivity for you could be just bull crap for me.

Well reread the red text, and your statment was adressed, and you have no point. His point is: People can enjoy the game, people can close their eyes and overlook problems, that they can't argue the inbalance, bugs etc...
Ehh? why we can't argue ? is your word or his is last over matters like these? and no that is not the point he was trying to make. it is you who is twisting his post into something that it isn't.
I don't see how you can argue about faction inbalance and bugs, your argument would be "no there is no bugs and balance is great"?

Looking beyond the bugs does not make them disappear. And no matter how hard you try, perspective does not make the queues on low population servers any shorter.
But hey, I see what you mean. Eating shit and paying for it is ok as long as you can convince yourself that it tastes good, right?
I am pretty sure you eat load of shit everyday..just that you don't know it. Even though you might think it is the best dessert in the world. See..prespective.
Exactly. But I won't go trying to convince everyone it isn't shit that I'm eating when I rip open the candy bar wrapper. There's the difference.

yeah when every thing else fails attack grammar and spellings. original.
However, i am not convincing anyone..just like you they have the right to enjoy (shit) candy bar. Liking something you dislike doesn't make them irrational. How would you feel if people insult you for enjoying something different?

I will pay attention to spellings and you pay bit more attention to reading carefully next time.
We are not talking about you here, are we? Because your sentence "I am not convincing anyone... Just like you they have..." seems to be a bit confusing. I can assure you there are a lot of SWTOR players who blatantly refuse to see the problems in the game, even if you yourself can see them and forgive the game for what it is.
But that's not the question here. The point was that there are bugs in SWTOR and the population on a lot of servers is low. Those are not subject to perspective. Those are facts. The only thing we can argue about is whether or not those two things are bad for the game. Obviously they are not critical for a lot of players, but for quite a few they seem to be. In fact, the population trend of SWTOR has been downwards ever since launch and it shows no signs of stabilizing yet, hinting that more and more people are being disillusioned daily and realizing what a bad game SWTOR actually is.

Read this first page and tell me that is what original discussion was really about? OP posts a video where people are being silly and having fun, another dude comes in and starts poking fun at them because they enjoy SWTOR and somehow they are irrational because of that. The bugs and other techincal issues were brought later on just as a strawman to divert attention from original 'snobbish' attitude.

The guys in the original video are delusional and/or paid off. Hopefully we don't have to argue about that? I thought we are talking about players who at least have played the game for more than a few minutes
I don't see how you can argue about faction inbalance and bugs, your argument would be "no there is no bugs and balance is great"?
The discussion would be more something along the line as, 'does having the number and nature of the bugs that TOR has after its launch plus the faction imbalance make TOR be a bad game' as the original poster to which people replied on was saying. Leading to the follow up argument, does it make the majority of other MMO's that had as many or more bugs right after launch and that suffer faction imbalance, WoW included, bad games too? Or is the argument of bugs esp if they're not gamebreakers or crash/instability causes as well as faction imbalance not really good main criteria to determine whether a game is good or bad?

Well put, and does a fraction imbalance really matter in a PvE centric MMO anyway? On that note, its not even that imbalanced compaired to other MMOs.
Speaking as someone who playes SWTOR and can see its problems (as there are with all MMOs). Nothing has been really game breaking, and bugs have been less affecting than others at release. All software will have bugs, and they always will. If one is looking for perfection, they are never going to be happy with anything.
Well, the video is proof that putting computer nerds on video isn't really a great idea. (the guy in the middle was pretty smooth, but the other two could hardly get a sentence out without stammering)
But as far as what they are saying, I can agree with some of their points. They all seem to love playing single player games, and they clearly acknowledge that it does a great job of providing a single player experience inside an MMO. (which was Bioware's goal).
Doesn't sound like they've done much PVP, and perhaps they are right, depending on what class/side you chose really impacts your overall experience.
For example, regarding the one guys comment about no combat rotations, I'm thinking, what the heck is he smoking? (he was a Jedi Counseler primarily). I on the other hand am a Gunnery Commando (level 32) and I most defintiely follow the same two rotations in almost every fight.
If I'm killing groups of trash mobs (normal) I start out with a mortar volley followed up by a random assortment of clean up shots (mostly Grav) to finish off any last bits of life they may have. (and if a group still live I give em a quick burst of an aoe shot)
if faced with Strong or Elite opponents then I pretty much start off with 4-5 grav shots to softent them up, then a round of full auto, then the finishing shot to cap off the rotation, rinse and repeat. If a bunch of things decide to melee me I drop the aoe knockback mostly for the entertainment value, but not because I really need to.
That's pretty much it. If I'm in a group, (something I've not done enough of) then I do a slight variation, mostly because the tanking types are always leaping 30 feet ahead of me into the fight so I just sort of hang back and burn down whatever makes sense.
Oh well, they were honest and agreed they should get to level cap and do another review, because many of the complaints about this title come from folks who've spent some time there.

Weren't you just trying to lecture people about what the difference between subjective and objective is? Then you go and write tripe like this?
My example perfectly shows how you can be both objective and subjective at the same time. This is something almost all SWTOR players fail. They subjectively like the game and flat out try to deny there is anything wrong with the game. In my example, they would be the people claiming candy bars are good for your health.
The guys in the original video are delusional and/or paid off.
I only watched the first 5 minutes and all the time I thought they were so high on the sarcasm scale, that they wouldn't bother to give us a hint about them not being serious. Especially the reference to "Titanic" .. I thought they meant the ship...

There we go again. The discussion was simply about the video being posted. When people enjoy something they usually just talk about good points..i think that is obvious isn't it? the crux of the discussion came from calling these people 'irrational' simply because they are enjoying the game. The argument of 'bugs' wasn't even brought up in first page till that guy was called out for not understanding soemthign as simple as 'different strokes for different folks'.
You are trying hard to make this discussion about something that it wasn't. It was just about someone annoyed at people enjoying something he doesn't.

The video is a perfect example of throwing objectivity out of the window.
But I'll stop here. It's apparent that we're not going anywhere. Yes, people are entitled to like SWTOR. Just wonder how many "like" it because a) they're new to MMOs and don't know better or b) they have invested time and money into it and cannot confess to themselves that they're not having fun anymore.
There is of course the c) category who genuinely like the game as itself. I guess we'll see how numerous they are after a few months when the next batch of AAA MMOs start releasing.
Well they are in titled to their opinions. But I don’t agree with them on some things tho.
Like when that one dude on the left starts talking about that there aren’t any rotations and every fight feel different, that’s a load of bull! You can lie to your self all you like, but by the end of the day you do the same stuff over and over again. And sure the enemy's look different, but when you break it down, there are only a few types of them: Ranged and melee (and maybe some with some special ability’s or something) But my point is, that your next mob fight aint going to be all that different from your last, and you will probably use the same skill rotation on this one as well.
This is a violent torpedo of truth.
As a Sith Sorc, every fight involves, at most, 6 different skills. And since there really is no cooldown management, it is simply spam those 6 until you are low on force. Now maybe this person doesn't have a lot of MMO experience, and thinks every fight is different.
Yet to anyone who has actually done this before, no, the fights aren't very unique. Nor are they "challenging." There's nothing challenging about firing the same skills over and over again, with the occasional heal.
Ah, ha ha ha ha... I've played tons of MMOs. Some were good and stayed for years. Others were boring and I left. No snobbery... No WoW, either. Don't like the aesthetic. Never have. My snobbery, if you will, is I just expect certain things that you find in any half-baked FREE TO PLAY MMO:
Functional UI. This would be a mediocre UI for a single-player game where you can pause the game. Here, it's deadly.
Significant Class Differencees. Right now tanking is a joke and this 'everybody does everything because nobody does anything well' BS makes any 'group-function role' pretty pointless...
Better quests that do not invole nothing but the most rudimentary FEDEx or Kill-list. How about a puzzle? Other MMOs put puzzle quests in... Even manage to dress-up the FexEx quests so you feel like you actually accomplished more than killing a few Rhakghouls...
Changes to the environment. Many MMOs now change what you see in an area based on what you've done in that area. Galtrev in LOTRO is a perfect example. If you just got there, the Galtrev you see is still controlled by Saruman. When you defeat his forces, you're in a post-Saruman Galtrev which is signifcantly different... HOWEVER, you can meet your friends there as long as they're there. No matter where in the quest chain they are... It's great.
Fuctional crafting. This game is devoid of meaningful crafting. Best to just use slicing and your quest rewards.
Working Economy. Multi-millionaire Jedi... Really? You think hyper-inflation isn't around the corner?
Working PvP. That's an old and beat to death topic.
Avoidiance of Structural Faction Imbalances: They couldn't have gone out of their way to make the Republic any less attractive if they got bonuses... There should be more balance between the factions... But why? The Empire side looks so much cooler...
Meaningful Social Opions. Guild structures and reasons to have a guild. Appearence tabs. PC Marriage.
Instead we got fully voice acted side-quests. Cute ONCE, not so cute on second, third, fourth, fifth time through the area....
Well they are in titled to their opinions. But I don’t agree with them on some things tho.

Agreed, I have a Consular and I have a standard rotation that I use in most fights; to be fair to the video, it seemed pretty clear to me that the guy in the middle understood that - he picked up on the wow-with-a-starwars-skin theme & complained that combat was basically watching your cooldowns.
The other two guys were obviously super-excited and just full of 'omgitsstarwars' and having far too good a time to even notice any faults, but I think most people who are actually playing the game are more like the middle guy - they see things that aren't perfect, that they don't particularly care for, or things that could have been a hell of a lot better; they just don't let them get in the way of enjoying the game.
This thread is funny though - some people seem far too angry that the game wasn't what they wanted that they really can't believe that other people actually, you know, like it.

I had one rotation for my gunslinger.
I had one rotation for my scrapper.
I had two rotations for my guardian.
I had two rotations for my sentinal.
I had one rotation for my sage.
I had one rotation for shadow.
I had one rotation for my vanguard.
I had one rotation for my commando.
Same went for all my mirror-class Imperials on the other side...
The only reason I had two rotations for my Knight classes was they had boss fights that required frequent interrupts. The other classes really didn't...
All the arguments in this thread supporting peoples right of opinion and stating SW:TOR isn't a bad game just because we don't like it keep failing to see the point, that being that it is a bad game in terms of what should be expected of a game pretty much released in 2012.
The UI is basic even for a f2p title, in a P2P MMO it is absolute trash, it allows for no customization while other games released before TOR, for example TERA and Rift have a full customizable UI where anything can be moved and re-sized individually and tweaked in almost every way possible.
Rift and TERA both have much fewer bugs.
They both have much more attention to detail with the environments and textures.
They both seem to have functional PvP and better optimized engines regardless of the higher texture/environmental detail, especially TERA, as I get a much higher fps in TERA than Rift, which I still get a similar FPS as TOR in despite TOR having the worst quality graphics and detail of the three.
TOR comes equiped with the worst customer service I have ever witnessed while EME and Trion have been the best customer service I could expect from a company, let alone two BRAND NEW companies without the ridiculous budget of EA and Bioware.
If you people want to pay to be fed shit so be it, but you have a right as a consumer to receive a finished product and not be milked by a BETA. 159.99 collectors edition? Should have rang the alarm bells right away.
It's human nature to bash a game I think and this website is game bashing central as GW2 and Tera will feel the sting of bashing after a few months out the gate.

Below average, easily amused, and sheep are all things that pop into my mind.

It' snot that it's not what they wanted it's not what they claimed it would be... Innovative!

My family ages 10-40 loves The Old Repbulic
It's human nature to bash a game I think and this website is game bashing central as GW2 and Tera will feel the sting of bashing after a few months out the gate.
Just my point of view
