LOL and here I thought that was hysterical. Then again my guild did do naked charges in AoC sieges...so maybe I'm biased.

Well, there are 3 for WvW. But honestly I really enjoyed AoC when it launched, and it has no factions. I'm not sure what they really bring to the table, but I'm willing to be enlightened :B
undie siege is a bonus for me. i'm looking forward to a few giggles watching a warrior wade into an ocean of enemy players in wvw wearing no pants because they broke, but still wanting to get a few kills before repairing.
awesome +10.
and let's face it with factions - not many mmos use them properly anyway because the majority cry when they're getting griefed.
so.
this is as good a solution as any. maybe better because it may promote a nicer level of comeraderie on each server as opposed to everyone not wanting to talk to each other. i look forward to the wvw only because i feel at the end of battles when you're out in the world, you'll be recognising the people you fought with. in other games, there's so much server jumping you don't even bother paying attention to other players. here, if you notice someone doing something great, chances are you'll see them again wandering around and you can say, "hi! you're that guy!"
this is how legends are made.
it's actually quite clever of anet if you think about it.
I don't like that the game can be solo'd I get that as content moves forward people will want to movie on from old stuff and new players are left on their own. But they should come up with another solution. Like giving veteran players some kind of reward for helping new characters with quests. Conquer Online does this and by doing so, new players can quickly establish themselves in the community by having a veteran friend. And no one has to miss out on content or play alone.
I doubt the newer players will rarely ever feel alone when playing the game. Anet has specifically made the majority of PvE gameplay based around dynamic events and group objective that scale depending on the size of the group. This will be a lure for all players in the area looking for some easy exp.
Anyways you get downscaled to the appropriate level for that particular zone, so veteran players should get some rewards for doing events and helping lowbies with their adventures as well.
@LadyNoh the events are happening constantly all over.. its not like Rift where if one opens up in town and you are alone you are screwed or you want to do a rift and have to find one to open and find ppl to help you with. It is the world, its all over.. if you dont want to do one move on... there is nothing making you go to a certain location such as a quest hub with a rift smack dab in the middle of it with elite mobs owning you and your quest givers >.<
@jinned the game cannot be fully soloed, the dungeons and the high end meta type DEs are in no way soloable. You get rewarded for doing those group events and dungeons.
@NMStudio... just no... go back to WoW although I am a fan of mounts and that request has some merit
@Teala seriously?!?! you wont play a game simply because it has no mount? If you played GW1 you would understand its not needed and although it would be nice... its not a game killer.. too much else going for GW2
for me... hmmm I dont like the naked when broken gear mostly because I like my character looking nice. I also think that gear becoming broken in PVP shouldn't be in... in PVP you die.. you cannot always prevent it especially if you get swamped by a grp and are alone or caught unawares. I also would love to see the Dervish, I dont want to play one but so many ppl love the prof and it is pretty unigue.
But I fear they went away from any rewards from PvP at all since you would be unnable to get a group if you were low ranked, but again low ranked people were mostly terri bad, so why not reward the people that actually spent time and are good.
I know we will get PvP armor, but meh, rather get emotes.
Some things I'm scared of (completely personal problems though)
The class skills use too much of same color and lack others, let me explain:
Necromancer is way too green and dark
Guardian is Blue, blue, blue and blue again
Mesmer is violet
etc.
It's kinda boring IMO but I understand it's an easy indicator to instantly know who you're facing, though it's very monothematic IMO, and one thing is that you know you're facing guardian, but the it's very hard to distinguish the skills he uses (But who knows, I havent played the game yet,so I might change my opinion on it very easily)
The second thing are the boons and conditions...I dunno but I find them somehow very simpified and when you look at the gameplay, most skills and abilities resolve around making the most of those conditions and nothing else..For me it does that most of the skills look very similar and not special (ie. they dont have the "special" feel,it's hard to explain) ... But I hope I'll change my opinion on this once I playe the game as well
I think I actually spent way more time reading and theorycrafting about MMOs than playing them
lack of an "evil" side, no undead, orcs etc. id love to play an orc in GW2 not some naff looking horned dog man that bounces everywhere
I would agree with you if it weren't so that most of the greenskin races I've seen in MMORPG's look as if they were Disney approved. All cutesy and funny.
The LOTR movies showed evil races that actually look evil. But looking like that I wonder if they would become a popular choice though
1) The effects, really over the top and poorly done IMO, especially the fire.
2) No OWPvP or dueling
3) No Guild Wars in Guild Wars
4) No mounts, seriously, I don't care if there is porting like others have said, mounts are awesome, although flying mounts can stay away.
5) Attacks and monsters feel weak and powerless most of the times, you swing around a sword at lightspeed and it hits the monster and it does not flinch.
The image on that page also shows a filter for only showing friends' games.
I don't want to rehash the trait debate here, but it's at the top of my list. I understand their change to what traits are about and I agree with it. Previously they were on the fly modifications, now they're allowing you to skew towards a playstyle. My big concern is that it's 300x more complicated than the skill system, it's possible to have traits which don't help your currently equipped skills, and newbies are going to expect that they should min max (having been conditioned to do it in other games). If ArenaNet is taking our feedback and looking into those issues then I'm happy.
"Gamers will no longer buy the argument that every MMO requires a subscription fee to offset server and bandwidth costs. It's not true you know it, and they know it."-Jeff Strain, co-founder of ArenaNet, 2007
There really isn't much that I can say about this game that I dislike. There are some things that I wish where different but I understand the limitations of an MMO so there is no need for me to state them.
There are some very general design choices that I wish were different. I'll just state those.
1. I wish their was playing housing. I know that their are home districts but I wish there was more UO style housing with a better rule set so houses aren't smeared all over the place.
2. I imagine that if ANet had decided to go with an originial Sci - Fi themed MMO rather than continuing with the fantasy theme than the game would be mind blowing. I am dissapointed at the lack of any attempts to make the "ultimate sci fi mmo" from any developer in the industy. If any developer could have pulled off the SciFi mmo with real time space combat, and extensive planetary gameplay it would have been Anet
3. A toolset for player made content. I don't know why everyone doesnt do this with every MMO. It's fun and it's a really easy way to get content. The player made stuff can be kept seperate from the real game and the very best content can be implemented permanently.
4. I prefered the way skills worked in GW1 over GW2 i think. I would rather have seen them go further towards that "classless" feel that GW1 had. I think that if ANet had really tried for it they could have done a very robust classless system
"Don't mistake a fun game for a good game... Checkers is fun to play but its not exactly the highest point of gaming design... and definatly not worth $60 plus $15 a month"
Mounts are a possibilitiy in the future as mentioned by Colin at one of the shows last year.
Housing/Guild Housing is definitely planned for in the future. I'm fine with the housing happening in our personal story instances as long as we have some say in the outside and inside looks. I'm actually hoping they go in depth on housing and take advantage of the fact that we will all have our own Personal Story Space that includes more than housing. Basically don't limit us to only building a house.
My little thing is the lack of multiple guild chat channels open at once since we can belong to multiple guilds. There again the mechanic isn't quite as simple as one character belonging to multiple guilds, it's more based on an account belonging to multiple guilds with characters choosing who they represent at play time. Hopefully they will have some way to create custom chat channels.
The only complaint I can think of, is the visual chaos that comes from multiple combatants. I know they're working to tone down the particle effects, but, even without those effects, situational awareness seems muddled. Which, war/battle is chaos I understand. I noticed in watching some of the beta videos that I often couldn't tell how many enemies were being engaged, what types they were etc. Sometimes it looked like a cluster of unknown enemies, vs a cluster............ok, it looked like a cluster,

i think it mostly looks like a cluster because in the videos at the moment, no one playing really knows what they're doing. the radical differences between gw2 playstyle and most other mmos i think has had the poor reviewers befuddled and afraid to move. give the game a few weeks and i reckon we'll all be mastering it to the point it's all instinctive. just like we have every other game.
one of the anet guys said about the pvp that he expects the playerbase to vastly outplay them within a short time of the game going live. i think that'll be the case. we'll get the game and in a few weeks the only complaints people will have revolve around "i've specced x in my traits and i'm not as powerful as the guy who specced y. i wantz nerfs nao!"

ROFL I bet it is only a couple of days. Actually I bet that happens in beta:)
the only 2 tiny little small things i dont like from GW2 are that i wont be able to have 20+ skill of my own on screen via hotbars, and the portals connecting all zones (should have been 1 huge open area). But this wont hurt my gameplay experience in any way. Any slight difference is a fresh air to breath in this world of "all mmos have to be the same" we are living in.....
Its not out yet. other than that I dont think anyone knows (other than the beta testers) because we havnt played it.
It's just small things that you don't really like. I.e exaggerated effects when in large groups that's being worked on but from what we saw in press furring wvwvw it's apparent. Just the obvious usually, something's that aren't true can be ignored.
I might get banned for this. - Rizel Star.
I'm not afraid to tell trolls what they [need] to hear, even if that means for me to have an forced absence afterwards.
P2P LOGIC = If it's P2P it means longevity, overall better game, and THE BEST SUPPORT EVER!!!!!(Which has been rinsed and repeated about a thousand times)
Common Sense Logic = P2P logic is no better than F2P Logic.

I read somewhere they are looking into toning those down.. I really hope so. I feel very bad for any epileptics >.<
And no mounts... along with the explanation that mounts aren't needed because you can just teleport everywhere, possibly making it feel like a lobby game.
I guess you mean faction as in horde and alliance rather than faction for some NPC race that you have grind 6 million mobs and daily quests for a year to earn their favour?
In that case there are as many 'factions' as servers (WvW) of course that is bending things a bit as there is no lore or anything surrounding this.
Put another way grinding rep has always been crap. Player factions are kind of unnecassary with WvW.
For me it would have to be personal story cutscenes. Right from the start I always imagined that all the game's cutscenes would be as awesome as the cutscenes following right after character creation. Would love to see more action happening in those cutscenes and a far more active use of camera angles. i have a feeling that GW2's main weakness will be those cutscenes.

Dungeons and other challenging PvE content might turn intoo a kite fest. I really dislike kiting.

Lack of a "Rising attack", not having the ability to counter a knockdown feels oddly limiting, I blame arcades.

Travel / Death systems... to me feels like a single player console rpg..
The classless classes... everyone can do everything, just some do almost everything a little different then the next class that can do everything..
But no monthy sub is pretty cool. xD
