Diablo 3: Blizzard to remove PvP from launch

  • PvP was pretty dumb in the previous Diablo games. And given Diablo 3s Pay 2 Win formula of PvP I can honestly say I'm not even the slightest bit bothered that it's getting cut.

No pvp is fine with me. I seldom PvP anyway. If that means i can get this a day early, i am 100% for it.

Following the usual $ = € logic, Diablo 3 costs 60 € in Europe. At that price, I'm simply not buying it. I'll probably get Torchlight 2 and Guild Wars 2 for the same price combined.

it's going to be included in a future patch...and i dont get the gripe on the auction system..i knew people who farmed gear in d2 and sold it to people via sketchy transfers lol...

lolz on D3.....TL2 will have char customizing and modding, pvp, pve.......for about 20 bucks.

    Think about that.

Torchlight 2 is pretty much a welfare version of Diablo 3. The game simply won't have the lasting power without a dedicated server environment without cheating through mods, ect. I am sure TL2 will be a good game by it's own right, but it won't have the lasting power D3 will have.

maybe you are right......alltough you should never under estimate the modding community.....they make some awesome stuff sometimes :)

I have no doubt that the D3 story will be very nice and the replay value will be very high just as D2 was.

But a game that asks 1/3 of the price that blizz does with about the same features i am willing to try ....but thats mho.

    FYI

Right now I can buy D3 on Amazon.co.uk for 38 euro's (£32), I pre-ordered back in Janauary for 35 euro's (£29).  The same price I have paid for PC games for the last 5 or more years, but I think we're lucky in the UK as we normaly pay less compared to mainland europe.

I don't know why ppl get hung up on the price, the prices blizzard posts are the RRP shop around and you'll always find it cheaper.  And pre-ordering before the release date announcment will save you even more.

Blizzard want £45 for me to buy the digital version ... ha I love you blizzard but not that much :p

    This LoL comparison is crap...

Cash shop items such as XP boosts are always "edge" items...

If 2 players start at the exact same time and put the exact same time and effort into each character the one who opens his wallet will have a clear advantage. This is a clear case of purchasing an advantage. Eventually everyone will even out but how is that ANY different from someone purchasing an uber item on the broker that someone else already found and don't need and you taking the time to farm and find the item... In the end you both have it, they just payed to get it and you farmed it... Same as "boosts"

In D3 the RMAH is a completely player created market place, how is this P2W? The items either need to me found, or crafted by a player first just like in D1, D2 etc. The fact that Blizzard just wants a cut of what was essentially a Black Market RMAH a la eBay or the 100's if not 1000's of websites offering goods. I recall Windfoce bow's selling for hundreds of dollars.

In fact I hope all future games follow this trend and puts the power of the marketplace in the players hands rather than it being exclusive to the gold farmers etc. As a player you now have the control of undercutting the farmers to a point where you make money and they are no longer profitable. Even games with subscriptions will now have the potential to be F2P because you are paying your monthly fee with real cash that you made from a few in game sales.

The flaw in this system as I see it is that you must immediately cash out what you sell, or it gets put into a Blizzard slush fund where you can use the now LOCKED real cash to pay for Blizzard subs, cash shop items like mounts for WOW etc. I can see this turning into a legal issue later on where if enough people suddenly decide they want their locked money Blizzard will either have to concede or perhaps risk a class action lawsuit even thoug this will be clearly spelled out in their TOS.

Just stop this over reacting sky is falling crap... Acting like a bunch of bitches over a friggin video game... This generation is clearly spoiled...

Gaming is Dirt Cheap compared to this...

This is the reason why we keep getting broken, half-a$$ games.

You get what you pay for and when you see Blizzard pulling this crap, you know gamers are a bunch of junkie suckers.

We deserve everything we get...and don't.

    FALSE!

The reason you keep getting broke ass games is because the publishers putting out the games don't give a shit about you... The people who are designing and developing these games are no longer passionate gamers.

The industry has completely shit the bed and is one big fat corporation who only cares about profit... (capt. obvious)

If you want to make a difference and put money back into real developers making the games we know and love take a look at. IT appears that the real developers are taking the path to revive old school games that most of us grew up with using crowd funding to minimise risk and by the looks of it the players are certainly speaking with their wallets

Also for the record... games costing $59.99 is not unrealistic... Ultima 5 for the Commodore 64 back in 1988, I know because I purchased it at Babbages on Main St. Flushing in Queens NY back in the day... By that logic games today really should cost more like $180 roughly 3x the price.

The reason the price is so much cheaper is due to the quality of the product and the development costs. There are plenty of games out there that offer the same features as higher priced ones, it does not mean they are better. Hell, from what I have seen it is quite the opposite. I won't say TL 2 won't be a good game for that price, because it will. I will say that it won't even compare to D3 though. I have not seen a good mod for anything since.....well since the only option for additonal content for games was mods basically.

Wonder how much of the game they were balancing around it, because it's clear they gave less of a shit about the rest of WoW's balance when arenas came along.

They need to seriously create a roadmap of things they can accomplish.

Considering WoW was mainly balanced around PvE first and PvP second.. i doubt D3 was balanced around PvP.

So then D3 will be just as messed up balance wise then when they put in PVP LATER.

    Nice.

    Pass.

D3 will in no way be balanced for PvP, so says blizzard, the PvP in D3 is just a little extra something being added. It's a team vs team area system 3v3 or 4v4, it will have a ranked ladder system but blizzard have no desire to make it an esport.
