I don't feel sorry for Anet at all.  They're doing something they knew a lot of people wouldn't like and the reason they're doing it is to make more money off their product.  That's fine that they want to make more money, but they won't be getting as much of it from me (not directly, anyway) because I like their product less with a cash-diamonds-gold system than I would if they didn't have it.  I also now feel less 'brand loyalty' than before, for whatever that is really worth these days.

They're going back on the spirit of their policies even if they are weaseling the wording to not go back on the letter of it.  Most of the people defending the diamonds to gold situation know this but are so looking forward to this MMO that instead of simply acknowledging the sad fact and moving on, they're attacking other posters who say openly that this could have a negative impact on player enjoyment and that it violates the spirit of what Anet claims to stand for.

    Other gaming communities have a different outlook about GW2 and Anet, seems its this community on its usual;

Oh, now that the games in Beta, it sucks, SCREW U ANET!!

We will find any fault in your game and flame you til doomsday for it.

Most of us are pretty sick of seeing that attitude of only focusing on a games small faults and never on its strengths.

THE EVEN OFFICIALLY STATED THAT IT'S ABSOLUTELY OUT OF QUESTION any kind of P2W model, they're even planning beta event just to test what transactions are people okay with!!

And what they receive as feedback from players??

One flame thread after another about how GW2 is going to be a P2W crap, how they lied to us all the time and how greedy they are

Poor Arenanet...honestly if I were developing passionately this game for few years and receive such feedbach, I'd probably lose all the passion immediately....

God forbid your potenticial customers discuss and express their feelings about the direction of the product A-net wish to sell them.  This issue is and should be discussed as much as it currently is.  Also A-net are not babies who need to be coddled.

Omg, now you get all those ppl who confuse the two, ugh.

the outrage is because people think this somehow makes it p2w. this is simply not the case. without god tier items (GW2 will not have a gear grind if you recall) there is no pressing urge to get the next best thing. in fact, i would say there isn't going to be "the bestest weapon" since it all depends on your play style.

There will be exp potions correct? And a higher level will have an advantage over a lower level, right?

In other words a player can buy himself to higher level faster than someone who does not buy exp potions, effectively paying to win. Unless someone is going to claim that levels does not matter in this game.

I guess some people don't understand how this game is being set up.  If you are level 80 (whether through "buying" your levels or playing for them) and you go into a level 20 area, you will be kicked down to level 20 strength!  So, leveling only really serves to allow you into the tougher zones, nothing more.  And with PvP, your level doesn't matter because everyone is the same level in PvP.

So where is the advantage over other players?  If you get to level 80 faster than I do in PvE, so what?  I don't mind taking my time in the PvE and if I meet you in PvP, our respective levels don't matter.  And, you can't grief me in PvE, so where's the problem?

Frankly, if you "buy" your way to level 80 and I play my way to it, I'll probably laugh at you for missing so much of the game you bought!

You want me to pay to play a game I already paid for???

    Be afraid.....The dragons are HERE!

    1.  You'll be kicked down to level 20 strength, true, but you'll still have all your skills, so you'll probably kill faster than a real level 20.

    2.  Unless drops vendor for the same amount at level 80 as the do at level 1, the higher level your character, the faster you can get gold.

    3.  WvWvW bolsters low levels to 80 but does not give them all their skills, again giving a real level 80 the advantage.
