This chart explains it pretty well. Maybe people can be clear about it now.

You might need to add an extra category than just vanity items.

So coins will have zero impact on either supplies, upgrades or W v W v W in general? You're quite sure about that?

Except no one can say for sure right now that it will only be vanity items (and account based stuff like character slots ect). Anet left themselves enough wiggle room in the wording that the cash shop could still include everything making this chart wrong and pointless.

I haven't heard this. I thought items purchased with Karma could ONLY be purchased with Karma. Has ANet or the press confirmed this?

This, the ability of fans to blind themselves to reality never fails to amaze. No one knows what will be in the shop and how it will work, yet people are happy to make sweeping statements that everything is perfect and if you don't agree you are a "hater"

Excellent chart. There are a few connections missing as others have pointed out but it's a great start!

based on what is already known, this flow chart is dead on accurate.

Everyone who thinks you can buy karma items with gold are going by this one statement in a preview blog.

Well, have no fear because the most rewarding NPCs will, as an alternative, also sell their services for some gold if you haven’t developed your personality or earned enough karma.

    http://www.arena.net/blog/personality-in-guild-wars-2

Which was posted in Aug of 2010

Sorry to say, but if you watch any of the beta videos or read Anet's discussions on updtaes, that was all changed. The only vendors that sell karma items for gold are low level npc's.

This video is of all high end content, and even the prices were not set yet, but gold was NOT an option to purchase Karma items of any value.

So if we can get Gems by playing then why can't we sell gems back at pawnshop prices? I see the gold farmers still exploiting this system. They will undercut the Anet Gem price.

Can't you trade supplies you gather in WvWvW on the marketplace?

And you're missing the line from marketplace to upgrades...

Most important.... Upgrades have an easy attainable max level. Which is very importabt for the game system not to unballance the game.  Winning battles is not about gear at all, but all about playerskills.

For the rest of it your drawing is very clear.

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

  • Good chart I guess.

Anet should make a chart like this to clear things up a bit

  • HricaHrica Member UncommonPosts: 1,129

That chart does make it crystal clear.

I don't believe that chart is complete. A few arrows are missing, that market place sells items that let people get items that enhance gameplay in pvp and pve.

It's a good start, but it's incomplete.  I think I can hear a thousand photoshop clicks as I'm typing this.

  • TruthXHurtsTruthXHurts Member UncommonPosts: 1,555

It needs a gold farmer box.

    Pretty much.

    "Convenience" stuff for one.

(Which happens to be an awfully wide category governing toilet paper as well as 300 ft yachts).

As others have said, its missing the arrow from the marketplace to upgrades. You can buy equivalent gear using gold as using Karma and Glory. But obviously those two will have unique appearances.

That works the other way around too. People shouting P2W without any real evidence and calling everyone that disagrees fanboys.

Note that hes talking about developing your "personality" in dialog choices, which can affect how NPCs react to you:

"...a norn mercenary who likes your style and decides to follow you exclusively for a while..."

"...you might talk a farmer into parting with some strength-granting pies, or you may even meet a local dignitary who offers to double your experience gain or boost your speed for a short time."

"...farmer who is willing to give you a jar of bees to throw at your enemies."

Its not like its any epic gear vendors they talk about, but that jar of bees you can throw on someone sure sounds imba. Dont worry though, it will surely get nerfed. So apparantly you could just buy that jar of bees instead of bothering with pesky dialog.

Note that the article is from august 2 years ago as well, just saying considering their infamous scrap-and-remake process.
