Am I understanding this right that the marketplace are the npc vendors that sell weapons and armour etc? And player trade is the auction hall system , right?

If so, I miss rare loot and crafted items. These could be directly traded with gems too.

EDIT : Oh and apart from vanity items, ppl expect characterslots and storage expansion to be bought with gems too.

I haven't heard this. I thought items purchased with Karma could ONLY be purchased with Karma. Has ANet or the press confirmed this?

"But what if you don’t want to read flowery language and pick from a lot of dialog? What if you just want to simply kill everything and hand in some heads for a reward? No problem! We understand that not everyone wants to hone their interpersonal skills with NPC banter, but we recognize they don’t want to miss out on all the benefits either. Well, have no fear because the most rewarding NPCs will, as an alternative, also sell their services for some gold if you haven’t developed your personality or earned enough karma. And if you truly don’t want to be bothered reading at all, we make clear the shortest path through a conversation so you can get back to the fighting."

    Note it says" most rewarding"

Note that hes talking about developing your "personality" in dialog choices, which can affect how NPCs react to you:

"...a norn mercenary who likes your style and decides to follow you exclusively for a while..."

"...you might talk a farmer into parting with some strength-granting pies, or you may even meet a local dignitary who offers to double your experience gain or boost your speed for a short time."

"...farmer who is willing to give you a jar of bees to throw at your enemies."

Its not like its any epic gear vendors they talk about, but that jar of bees you can throw on someone sure sounds imba. Dont worry though, it will surely get nerfed. So apparantly you could just buy that jar of bees instead of bothering with pesky dialog.

Note that the article is from august 2 years ago as well, just saying considering their infamous scrap-and-remake process.

I really hope they keep Karma vendors seperate and that the currency self remains nontradable. But wiki still shows this :

"Almost everything which is attainable by using karma is also purchasable using coin."

    http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Karma

This is all still very vague though, so I guess we will have to see.

Should be a "gold" box right below playing the game that leads to PvP, PvE, and WvW.

Yeah, guess theres a valuable lesson here. image

Wikis are edited by random people, so they can be faulty.

In this case for the "Almost everything... "-part they have the blog post as the source, and the blog isnt talking about what people seem to think. So the wiki is practically misleading.

EDIT: LMFAO! A perfect example of how useless wiki can be as a source: someone edited the page and just removed the source to the "Almost everything.." -bit.

So now theres no source to it at all, which practically makes the info useless. It might as well say that flying pigs will be possible to buy in the cash shop and that they will be able to shoot lazers out of their behind, with source: "cuz I say so" image

It works both ways of course. GW2 wiki is closely guarded by the GW2guru folks too. So if ppl heard otherwise since then, it would've been changed just as easy.  But this is also why I wrote that its still very vague and we will have to see. 'Anything' can also mean anything :p Like gear with similar stats, but not that specific look. So we will have to see.

Btw,  karma is just one of the rewards from taking part in events. It seems to be almost unavoidable :p

The chart is over-simplified and missing things.

They forgot influence, which can be earned through guild play.
They forgot that influence can purchase "boosts" for additional supply in WvW.
    Gold can purchase influence.
Gold can purchase various things in WvW.
Gems will likely be able to purchase experience, influence, glory, and possibly Karma "boosts". (i.e. convenience items)
The player trading and marketplace are the same box, aren't they?
"Upgrades" box is mis-named. Should be called "cosmetics"...because gear bought with Karma and Glory will be no better than any other gear.
They also left crafting off completely.

You can't get gems by playing directly.  You get them by buying them from other players using gold.  They purchase gems from the shop and sell them because they want in-game gold.  You buy them with gold because you want something from the shop.

This is also how gold sellers will be stymied.  If you want gold and you're willing to buy it, why take a risk with a gold seller when you can just buy gems from ArenaNet and sell them yourself for gold?  It's orders of magnitude safer to do it that way rather than give up your credit card and personal details to some shady foreign website.  I'm sure some people will still do it that way, but they are stupid.  Can't really put it any simpler than that.

As for the gold sellers that still try to make a go of it in-game, I'm hoping to see, "Dhuum has banished another agent of chaos from the face of Tyria", in world chat now and then.  Maybe I'll even get to see it happen once.  Never did while playing GW1 unfortunately.
